    I usually just buy the whole hub assembly in order to avoid pressing out the one way bearing. But good to know it's an easy job.

    Hello Mr. Herbert .Enjoy all your video's . I have a question for you . I have a TREX 450 . When I give it trottle only the top or large gear turns . I can turn the bottom gear by hand and the top gear doesn't move .Doe's this mean my one way bearing is failing . Thank you so much . Bobby Miller

    • @NightFlyyer
      @NightFlyyer  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well the top gear is connected to the Motor Pinion gear and spins with the motor. If you can turn the bottom gear only 1 way, then all is good. But if it turns both ways, the bearing is bad. Hope that helps. Thanks so kindly for watching. Happy flying.

    Awesome fix, FYI you should have applied a little bit of high temp bearing grease in the bearing prior to reassembly. I also clean and re grease mine every 4 or 5 months of flying depending on how hard you push them. Thanks for the Vid.

    • @NightFlyyer

    Hi,
    Is that the heli that you used something like 13 years ago, pond fishing? Or maybe it's just the similarity of the foam pontoons that I am recognizing.....
    Anywho, nice work......So glad that you are still making your vids, Dave. I cannot believe how quickly these past 13,14 years have slipped by. You were one of my 1st subs back in the wild west days of youtube.

    • @NightFlyyer
      @NightFlyyer  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. I think that heli fishing video was done with a Blade 400. I put Pontoons on all my helis, as it makes it easier to see and puts it up a bit higher in the grass. That one was destroyed in the fire on 911, 2016 with all my models, cars, and home. Thanks kindly for being a long time subscriber. Stay well.

    I wonder if you could give me some guidance, I'm learning to fly rc helicopters and I bought a vintage hirobo falcon as a project while I learn. (I'm a mechanical engineering apprentice and live for this stuff.)
    My question is this: what is the best way to replace blades? I'd replace them with new fibreglass ones but all seem to have only one hole for fixing to allow them to pivot. I considered drilling a second hole but I don't want to waste £40 by wrecking them. It has a pair of serviceable blades, though they look a bit tatty. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    • @NightFlyyer
      @NightFlyyer  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Congratulations on taking the time to learn helis. I have many instructional videos on the subject and it helps to have a good simulator. I use Aerofly Ultimate, as it feels the most like my real model helis. Many helis only use one hole these days and they swing and wobble when not in line. Real helis use the locked blades when in flight, so there is no problems. You can use 1 hole, so try that first. Make sure the blades are not too long, as they can hit the tail rotor and make sure they are not too loose, as jockeying the throttle can cause them to get out of line and hit the tail boom. I know this all from over 50 years of flying them and had all kinds failures that is part of my learning curve. See my video on wobbling helicopters. Here is a link and good luck. th-cam.com/video/KLLfnJajixU/w-d-xo.html

      @@NightFlyyer thanks very much, I will definately look at getting a decent sim as I hadn't really thought about that. For now the original blades are probably ok, but just in case I'm glad there is the possibility of replacing them if needed.

    Such useful/helpful info, Dave! Thank you!
    Got a problem with my Trex 450SE: keeps browning-out in flight, SEVERAL times in one flight! Had to land immediately, and had to stop flying it. ESC seems the most likely, but I've had two different ones in it and it still browns out. WHAT the heck could be causing a power loss mid-flight? Don't think its the Rx cuz I got a new one from Spektrum and they said nothing was wrong with the one I sent back. Could a bad motor cause a short/power loss in the Rx? Servos? Gyro? I bought it used from a guy (many years ago) and it's ALWAYS suffered from brown-outs. He says it never did it when he was flying it. Now, he was flying a Futaba Rx and I installed a Spektrum Rx. Could THAT have something to do with it??? It's a beautiful machine, my pride and joy, and I can't fly it cuz I have NO IDEA how to fix it. I bought a new motor for it but I don't see how the motor could cause a power loss in the Rx??? I don't have any spare servos, gyros or Rx's so I can't do any troubleshooting, really. Have YOU ever experienced brown-outs?

    • @NightFlyyer
      @NightFlyyer  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi. Well I have had only a couple brown outs and loss of binds, but it was due to the BEC, in the ESC, I found. You might try to put a 4 cell NiMh battery in it to run the RX and Servos and skip the BEC. The battery is a constant voltage and you might be able to determine it that way. I don't recommend using different brands of TX's and receivers, as Protocols may look the same, but..... Good luck and happy flying.
