oh bugger! I somehow lost my comment, midway!! Here's attempt #2. I can write with ease as i'm doing it fr my laptop. There's no way I could EVER type this from a phone. 🤫 I know from your past comments, you warmly invite your subscribers to share thoughts & ask questions, so I feel comfortable doing so. wow. This little chateau is a treat! The deep pink tufted-velvet, curved bed head & footboard was stunningly beautiful & French. I have seen similar antique ones priced at $4500 US dollars. I'd take that bed and the pink bedcovering and the large oval framed floral and be happy! I'd also want the velvet chairs from the red room & maybe do them in a pretty lavender-blue if the red clashed. All the velvets on the other beds & chairs colors were equally beautiful. However, the one wallpaper leaving me dumbstruck was the one w/ the peacock/floral motif. (insert bug-eye emoji) in the red room. Could you (or anyone else) tell if the pieces falling down were paper or fabric? I'd take that pink velvet bed & bed cover, have it all professionally deep cleaned & then I'd do my walls in the peacock floral!! Happy camper! That blue and white wallpaper with small repeated pastoral scenes was a quintessentially French design called Toile de Jouy, sounded out twall de jwee. It comes in amazing different motifs, different colors. The scenes usually convey a theme depicting subjects: the 4 seasons, french country/pastoral life, hunting, etc. Do a google search of Toile de Jouy & click (google) "images" and you will see the infinite variety. It's still a well-loved design motif and manufactured today in wall papers & fabrics for home decor, clothing & accessories. The framed lady you asked about looks to be a type of needlepoint called petit-point (sounds like petty point) embroidery. It was a tradition for young French girls to learn this skill and continue with it into later years. They would needlepoint portraits, chair covers, framed pieces for the wall, table-top fireplace screens to protect the face, even floor rugs. It was sad the way the owner's dream restoration is being lost to the elements. Jeremy, There is something I want to send you which will be of immeasurable value to your work. I have to tell you Jeremy; I started watching abandoned videos about a month ago (5 or 6 different explorers). YOU are by far the best! Your filming & narration is excellent. You don't rush thru it, you tell a great story, and you are respectful of the homes and their families. I also like that you get excited about wallpaper - LOL
I'm not sure why but I am crying like a baby watching this. The wheelchair and the bathroom made me so sad knowing the king of his castle died all alone. All that work just left to the elements. The red bedroom was beautiful and I would love to find reproduction wallpaper. Beautiful rug as well. You are great at story telling and bringing the story and home to life. Thank you my friend.

The 1800's farmhouse with the racecar out front got me. Seeing all the stunning furniture, letters rom 1922, the mortgage docs etc. I saw it last night & cant stop thinking of it
What a beautiful, old home! I watch videos of old, abandoned houses all the time, but this one just made me feel some sort of way. I guess a little bit sad for the old fellow that owned it. It's a shame that his children have allowed their parents dream home to go to ruins, but it sure is beautiful. Great video!!!
To be so self absorbed and greedy are the children that they can't just say, "You take the home,' instead of leaving it to decay. Now no one will benefit from the mansion or continue to keep the home up in their parents' memories.
They didn't become that way in a vacuum. No idea what the problem is but parents have something to do with who their adult children become. Something as simple as too much focus on the house and not enough on the kids seems like it could prompt people to fight over the thing that was more valuable than they were. It's gorgeous, and clearly it came at a price.
@@Zarathustran 💯 agree with you. My parents have caused so much pain trying to raise me and sisters but at the same time wanted to keep their best friend (cocaine). We were brought up into a very unhealthy lifestyle it still hurts to remember trying to be a kid and growing up at the same time. Some parents hold very deep secret till they die that only the surviving kids can testify about it or choose to remain quiet. My best bet they choose to stay quiet cause remembering bring so much pain. But to each their own.
I cried on the inside, right away. I almost turned it off. That poor old man, father, widower, totally disabled. Yes, it did though, have a good vibe to it. I'm glad that you can give us a bit of a story to your tours.
What a gorgeous home. I remember two local sisters who refused to compromise on the price of their parents home. One wanted out, the other thought it was worth more than it was. It was starting to fall into decay and we were willing to buy it and fix it. We made an offer, the realtor said she would not take the offer to the daughters as it was insulting so she thought. We found something else much better right away, cheaper with more and prettier land. It had better bones. We rehabbed that home and retired to it. The home the daughters could not agree upon still sits more than 15 years later. No one bought it and its just rotting away. Its worth little or nothing now. Mother Nature is claiming it now sadly. It would be so costly to do anything with it today. So sad two siblings cant get it together.
Everything about this house is exquisite, from the architecture to the furnishings and the wallpaper. The vibe is definitely welcoming and that speaks volumes of the love that lived there. Great explore Jeremy
I don’t know how many children the owner had but if they could have all pitched in, they could have saved this lovely home and perhaps lived in it as one large family. There certainly would have been enough bedrooms and living spaces to accommodate many people. I used to watch shows like yours and stopped for awhile as no-one was that good at this until I stumbled on your videos. You are better at exploration than most who do this. Thank you for renewing my interest in these sadly nearly forgotten places. I am now subscribed and am playing catch up with your videos.
I just found your channel a few days ago. I really enjoy seeing the old houses and castles. You have a nice, gentle way of revealing what is in the house. And you show great respect to the property and the previous people who lived there.
The way you spoke about the gentleman that lived there was very touching. People are so selfish , to let something so beautiful go to ruin is a shame. Thank you for sharing.
Gotta say, youve brought tears to my eyes . How sensitive you are to recognize this disabled mans end of life struggles. Sadly, I feel that he may of been alone during his last years in his home. I too have lost my mobility - at least as I once had it . This reminds me of how it can all go. And how sad it is that this mans children have allowed this beautiful home he built for them to go into ruin. These lovely antique pieces of furniture! Such a beautiful museum of time gone by .. a true work of art .. all French style with a touch of Japanese flair . 😢
19:40 those fabric pictures are called tapestries. 20:20 that is a phone table and was called a "gossip bench." What a beautiful home that is! The owner/builder had much to be proud of. As you walked us through, I was picking out kinds of antiques that I'd love to have.
What an infinite sadness to see this house so degraded by time, by thieves and vandals. Maybe the children didn't deserve it since they waged a legal battle to divide the inheritance. Nn have thought of the sacrifices and feelings that bound him to this home, sorry but at this point nature took its course. Greetings from Italy 👏💙

Young Girl Reading is famous painting by Fragonard. The picture over bed is needlepoint. My Grandmother did needle point and Fragonard was one of her favorite artists.
Well done Jeremey I appreciate it warm compassion for the elderly! This ole man was very crippled maybe a paraplegic gentleman! You can tell he was not able to finish his dream, many rooms are construction sites! Lots of rooms for his ungrateful children!

I love how much of your heart goes into your videos. The way you describe each room I often just close my eyes and watch with my ears then I will start it over and watch with my eyes and it is so mind blowing. Oh Jeremy , I’m truly sorry about your father, I know loss and nothing can ever take that pain away, when you lease expect it, your father will come to you, in your dreams or during a difficult situation…. I lost my 16 year old son, he was my one and only son, and he died on Easter Sunday 4/21/19 , I feel your pain, and I’m glad you made the decision to live your best life on behalf of your father, I’m 100% sure he’s looking down and he’s very proud of the man you have become… you are his legacy, when you look in the mirror, it’s your father looking back at you, smile and be proud 😊❤️♥️

@@SuperDman51 That's another sad and similar story to this one. Unfortunately, it's so common for these places to be abandoned because of death and family not tending to the estate after that person is gone
The picture above the bed is a needlepoint, I have made a few and they are very cathartic to make and when you are done you get the feeling that you really made something beautiful.
Red was never my favorite color, and I thought wall paper was ick, but I am addicted to the red room. It was beautiful. And all the wallpaper in all of the homes you have shown, is magical!. The richness and uniqueness is special! Thanks.
It was not lost on me that he was basically confined to the first floor in his last years as his chair and special tub was there. His family raised there and their children once ran and played within those walls only now be left completely empty and alone 😥 Such beautiful, curated rooms. hi guys! I;m a little later for the party. 😁 Now, THIS is a home of exquisite taste. The place reflected owner's affiliation with the Orient, in the embroidered silks and special wallpapers. How disappointing it must have been for man to lose his wife, have all his children living elsewhere after he was left alone and then to know the kids didn't want the home he treasured.
I appreciate your sensitivity and attention to who and how one lived their life in the end of time . So very sad a family of 4 cannot figure things out very sad for the old man he can’t really rest in peace: ((

Who knows that one of his children didn’t take care of him in his old age. That scenario is very common. One child does all the work and the others just live their lives and wait for their inheritance. Maybe that child wants to keep the house in the family name and the others want to sell. Who knows.

I have never thought of it like that but when you pointed out the black mold I saw what you meant and at the one of the casement windows the wallpaper had rolled back like it was the edge of a curtain. This is a lovely estate. If the family is so desperate to sell, then they should have had an estate sale, selling furniture plus all of the decor. That money could have divided amongst the family members in addition to the property. Instead, the children let everything go into decay and that was all for greed as who could gain in receiving the most assets. Thank you for sharing this precious video.
This was such an elegant home and I like how you learned the history and acted respectfully. It looked like the majority of items inside were removed and I have a feeling that family did come for some of them. Strange how sinks and such were dismantled and rooms were in various stages of repair so I wonder if Marcel actually finished the renovations? So many questions, and did I see bowls of food upstairs in the attic? A shame the estate hasn't been settled after almost a decade. It was a beautiful tour, thank you.

There is such an awesome sensitivity to your story telling on these homes you go into. I truly enjoy your videos. And that women in the picture was a needlepoint picture. My grandmother had several in her home.
This place is fantastic! I have seen it before, but very much enjoyed the way you presented it. I do like your explorer style. When you went into the red room I believe both of us were saying oh my gosh at the same time or something like that! I am curious why the popes hat was in there. It is so sad to think that those kids are just frittering away their history by arguing. By the time they finally decide what they want to do, it’s not even gonna be worth it. I don’t know how many children the owner had but if they could have all pitched in, they could have saved this lovely home and perhaps lived in it as one large family. There certainly would have been enough bedrooms and living spaces to accommodate many people. I used to watch shows like yours and stopped for awhile as no-one was that good at this until I stumbled on your videos. You are better at exploration than most who do this. Thank you for renewing my interest in these sadly nearly forgotten places. I am now subscribed and am playing catch up with your videos.
And now the kids really have nothing to argue over; the home except for a few items is worthless.
I just found your channel a few days ago. I really enjoy seeing the old houses and castles. You have a nice, gentle way of revealing what is in the house. And you show great respect to the property and the previous people who lived there.

Gotta say, youve brought tears to my eyes . How sensitive you are to recognize this disabled mans end of life struggles. Sadly, I feel that he may of been alone during his last years in his home. I too have lost my mobility - at least as I once had it . This reminds me of how it can all go. And how sad it is that this mans children have allowed this beautiful home he built for them to go into ruin. These lovely antique pieces of furniture! Such a beautiful museum of time gone by .. a true work of art .. all French style with a touch of Japanese flair . 😢

What a beautiful home that is! The owner/builder had much to be proud of. As you walked us through, I was picking out kinds of antiques that I'd love to have.

What an infinite sadness to see this house so degraded by time, by thieves and vandals. Maybe the children didn't deserve it since they waged a legal battle to divide the inheritance. Nn have thought of the sacrifices and feelings that bound him to this home, sorry but at this point nature took its course. Greetings from Italy 👏💙

Young Girl Reading is famous painting by Fragonard. The picture over bed is needlepoint. My Grandmother did needle point and Fragonard was one of her favorite artists.
Well done Jeremey I appreciate it warm compassion for the elderly! This ole man was very crippled maybe a paraplegic gentleman! You can tell he was not able to finish his dream, many rooms are construction sites! Lots of rooms for his ungrateful children!

I love how much of your heart goes into your videos. The way you describe each room I often just close my eyes and watch with my ears then I will start it over and watch with my eyes and it is so mind blowing. Oh Jeremy , I’m truly sorry about your father, I know loss and nothing can ever take that pain away, when you lease expect it, your father will come to you, in your dreams or during a difficult situation…. I lost my 16 year old son, he was my one and only son, and he died on Easter Sunday 4/21/19 , I feel your pain, and I’m glad you made the decision to live your best life on behalf of your father, I’m 100% sure he’s looking down and he’s very proud of the man you have become… you are his legacy, when you look in the mirror, it’s your father looking back at you, smile and be proud 😊❤️♥️

It was not lost on me that he was basically confined to the first floor in his last years as his chair and special tub was there. His family raised there and their children once ran and played within those walls only now be left completely empty and alone 😥 Such beautiful, curated rooms. Now, THIS is a home of exquisite taste. The place reflected owner's affiliation with the Orient, in the embroidered silks and special wallpapers.
How disappointing it must have been for man to lose his wife, have all his children living elsewhere after he was left alone and then to know the kids didn't want the home he treasured.
I appreciate your sensitivity and attention to who and how one lived their life in the end of time .

He obviously provided well for his family in his younger years.....and those children couldn't get along well enough to work together to care for him in his old age??

Who knows that one of his children didn’t take care of him in his old age. That scenario is very common. One child does all the work and the others just live their lives and wait for their inheritance.
Maybe that child wants to keep the house in the family name and the others want to sell. Who knows.

Jeremy I like your way of describing thing. "Nature reclaiming" instead of rotting away or "how beautiful the decay". I have never thought of it like that but when you pointed out the black mold I saw what you meant and at the one of the casement windows the wallpaper had rolled back like it was the edge of a curtain. This is a lovely estate. If the family is so desperate to sell, then they should have had an estate sale, selling furniture plus all of the decor. That money could have divided amongst the family members in addition to the property. Instead, the children let everything go into decay and that was all for greed as who could gain in receiving the most assets. Thank you for sharing this precious video.
This was such an elegant home and I like how you learned the history and acted respectfully. It looked like the majority of items inside were removed and I have a feeling that family did come for some of them. Strange how sinks and such were dismantled and rooms were in various stages of repair so I wonder if Marcel actually finished the renovations? So many questions, and did I see bowls of food upstairs in the attic? A shame the estate hasn't been settled after almost a decade. It was a beautiful tour, thank you.

It's such a shame that a once much loved home has been left to rack & ruin whilst the greedy siblings fight over the estate🙄, I think their parents would be devastated. There is such an awesome sensitivity to your story telling on these homes you go into. I truly enjoy your videos. And that women in the picture was a needlepoint picture. My grandmother had several in her home.
This place is fantastic! I have seen it before, but very much enjoyed the way you presented it. I do like your explorer style. When you went into the red room I believe both of us were saying oh my gosh at the same time or something like that! I am curious why the popes hat was in there. It is so sad to think that those kids are just frittering away their history by arguing. By the time they finally decide what they want to do, it’s not even gonna be worth it.
