The wood in the dining room, which is where the staircase is located, was very beautiful. I believe I would have spent the majority of my time in that room! 😂
lol, come on, it still is if you pick and choose the areas. The outside is really nice, the 3rd floor is amazing, and the dining room is the best part of the house to me. The modernizing the bathroom in the master bedroom was the worst thing they did in a renovation.
Check out the video produced by the GA state parks. This house was a museum. I toured it in the late 1970s and early 1980s. I do not remember wallpaper, but it was sad to see in this video the flat screen TV and revamped bathroom. th-cam.com/video/SpA1eA9BLB0/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared Another tidbit I remember is the original kitchen was separate from the house, as a safety feature and was like that in many homes of that period. On the third floor in the front room at a particular time of year, the moon shines through the gingerbread work on the front roof eave, casting an eery image on the floor. Check out the GA State Park video. Lots of history from a curator of the house when it was a museum.
A shame the commentary didn't really match what was showing, for instance whilst talking about the beautiful bedroom, you get to see what looked like a utility area closet sort of space, which is disconcerting. Also, it was very difficult to visualise this house as there are no overall room views, just close ups of sections of rooms. I had to give up watching it, but from what I saw, it was very plain and homogenized. No beautiful graceful features that I saw; it seemed a very masculine house with no inner soul whatsoever. But as I said, I had to give up watching it. Maybe it improved as it played on. Very dissapointing. This video would not inspire me to visit this house.
@@luceysonlibertyIt certainly is not a question of extravagance vs understatement, it is a question of SOUL. This once fantastic mansion has lost its soul.
I loved all the wood in the interior, the staircase was lovely, the rooms were large yet comfortable.

Beautiful classy house. God bless our founding fathers and European brothers and sisters 🙏🎄❄️
Thank you for sharing this video. Merry Christmas 🎄🙏❄️
Merry Christmas to you and yours also!!
Beautiful Victorian home!❤
There are quite a few there in Thomasville GA. This is just one that is open to the public for tours.
Oh it's beautiful..Windows to the floor..the woodwork..the wrought iron...Oh I love it !
Yes I can imagine what it was like to live in a home like that. It's on AirBnB also so people can spend a night or two there. 😊
Beautiful!! Those windows ❤️. I would love to see any historical photos of the original house… inside and out!
The man who built the house was really scared of being burned alive so the windows are from the floor up so they could be opened for escape.
@@luceysonliberty I wonder why. Do you suppose he lived through a fire when he was a child?
Yes he did. They tell you about that during the tour.
It's a nice house
Thank you.
Used to be a nice house

It is still a museum. I think the flat screen tv is because it is listed on Airbnb now. I HATE the bathroom! It really feels out of place!!
Is there a secret passage anywhere in the house?
There isn't a secret passage but there is a cellar that is kind of hidden away.
They should have left the bathroom the way it was!
You are right. That was a very disappointing thing to see. It really felt that it didn't belong in that house.
No wallpaper? The white walls aren’t original
Ya know, that's a good point. There was no mention about the walls during the tour. If I'm ever inside it again I will try to ask about that.

Thanks for the comments. I'm still early on in making videos so I'm still trying to improve and will take your comments and use them to help improve.
Outside nice. Inside ridiculously over renovated.
It’s definitely a unique take on home design! Some people love the extravagance, while others prefer a more understated look.
@@luceysonlibertyIt certainly is not a question of extravagance vs understatement, it is a question of SOUL. This once fantastic mansion has lost its soul.
It has, and I believe it is because of the different owners it went through. I believe all the real soul was with the family that built it.
@ Certainly not. Quite the contrary. The soul of a place only comes with the passing of time and the accumulation of memories.
I apologize. I read your previous statement to mean a different thing. I understand now what you were saying which now I can agree.
