- US secretary of state Antony Blinken is warning that an all out Israeli attack on the city of Rafah in southern Gaza would provoke "anarchy" without eliminating Hamas.
It is his latest attempt at preventing Israel from carrying out a ground assault.
An Israeli bombardment in the eastern parts of Rafah has already displaced tens of thousands of Palestinians.
Speaking to CBS News Mr Blinken said, "As we look at Rafah, they may go in and have some initial success, but potentially at a very high cost."

There's a difference between wanting Palestine to be a state and claiming that it already is one. UN membership has to reflect reality -- the UN can't just vote states into existence. When they tried that before (1947), the result was war. The US position on this is correct -- there should be a Palestinian state, but a deal with Israel has to be negotiated first to make it real.

Oh please go learn some history in 2005 Israel gave Gaza to Palestine in a peace deal, if Israel wanted Gaza they would have just kept it, and if they wanted land they would have also kept The sinai peninsula instead of giving it back to Egypt in the 80s and the Sinai peninsula is three times the size of Israel and rich in oil and gas.
On the other hand the West Bank(Samaria & Judea) is a totally different kettle of fish, it's has the strongest historical and cultural significance to the Jews.

The difference is I don't believe Israel has any plans of fully leaving, Palestine and Isreal were never meant to be separated by a clear line on a map, they were always integrated, an Israelite next door to a Palestinian, that's how it should be for peace. I am a decorated US Army 95B Military Police Vet. and isrl is not being held to the same standard that I and my Brothers and Sisters in arms are. Yes, the current situation is looking a lot like the 1973 Battle of Suez, with Blinken = Kissinger, Biden = Nixon, Bibi = Golda, Hamas Rafah battalions = Egyptian 3rd Army. Once again an Israeli counterattack has placed an enemy at their mercy, and once again US is trying to hold them back in the interest of a broader geopolitical vision. Just seen a video about a family who lost their dad they said he turned around while he was cooking them dinner and waved to them and then he got blown up (murdered).
