Don't know why - tears come to my eyes when I listen to "December Blues", "True love will find you in the end", and "Some things last a long time". Jim is a great American Poet, but Daniel is much more pathetic, in this sense he is much closer to Kurt.
Heather Stogsdill was a fashion model and Celtic music singer at the time, still in her teens. She had an awesome, icy voice; quite haunting. She didn't always dress this way, but a lot. I saw her once with her hair straight - straight black slacks and a red short sleeve blouse. One couldn't look away.

I went to austin Texas the year after he died and visited a memorial it was heart wrenching and warming for me because i felt some type of connection. At water loo records they had a ton of merch and albums by him i splurged and got 2 double lps yip jump / hi how are you and 1990 / artistic vice still looking for retired boxer and songs of pain

Did Daniel direct these videos himself? The minimalist style and shot selection is just marvellous - it takes a lot of talent to draw the eye with so little "going on". Even when Daniel and Heather are literally just standing still it's riveting to watch, the most subtle of facial expressions are fascinating all by themselves.
Yes, Daniel was very much in control of every aspect of the videos. Before the shoots he would cruise around with the Rats smoking pot and scouting locations. I showed up just to shoot and edit and put them on the air. At the time I was unaware of his Super 8 film experience, but it made sense.

The Flaming Lips introduced me to Daniel Johnston. He is a great artist! He deserves a statue!
I think a sculpture garden of his cartoon characters would be ideal. Perhaps at his home in Walker TX. which is probably going to be a museum.
