Damn, to see that was shattering. Performing in front of a bunch of fuckin snobs who see him as a curiosity shit or something like that, was an evident fact he needed psychological help, and they literally were mocking and laughing at him in his face. This concert pretty much depicts the lowest point of DJ as his mental disease progress so bad. So sad to watch actually, though I am glad he recovered some health after that bad episode of his life.
@@WHOAM1894 have You ever seen "The Devil and Daniel Johnston"? Well if you see that then you will know it aint an assumption. Is a fact. In there you can see how basically the People who was with Daniel at that time expressed how bad an uncomfortable that show was. Many people if not most just seen him perform there as a freak to be mocked on, and many were not even aware od who Daniel was... I think it is also evident in this video. It was a sad episode that ppl close to Daniel seen, it is not just a mere interpretation of that moment.
They had to, he wasn’t able to complete the studio sessions. Fun fact, the album was originally supposed to be 1989. Daniel just couldn’t hold it together. Sad, but amazing kramer was able to put it together.
At least one person in the crowd would know they were witnessing something historically significant. I like Daniel's take on Springsteen's 'Cadillac Ranch'.
Yep. People couldn’t deal with Danny’s pure at heart no nonsense genuine personality that he was. He knew it freaked people out but it was their problem not his. His family called it him being stubborn but purity was the most important thing to Dan. He could be trying little bugger but it amused us.
Daniel Johnston is by far a better song writer and musician than Syd Barret. Nevertheles Syd Barret is considered a kind of genius. I think Daniel is a kind of genius and he still write songs
He was feeling that manic high that night, probably his most genius cohesive performance recorded

What gives you the right to assume these people are laughing at him and not with him? They seem sympathetic to DJ.

@@simonwinter6995An almost unfinished record. Still, my very favorite album he made, alongside "Hi, How Are You?".

Wow! This is a lot deeper than the people there realize ❤🎻

Blessed to be able to watch this
Respect to the man who makes people recognize their lives
“Got me a coffin
Shiny and black
I’m going to that funeral and I’m never coming back”
So morbid and cathartic 😂
He’s keeping those kids honest
I know right
This performance is so amazing!!! I wish I I could have been there!
Iron Butterfly at the end, lol.
Struck a cord somewhere in my heart.
Bugs me that someone split it on Careless Soul. This was Danny’s legendary wear all white and look for 777 everywhere.
Is it me or do the metal heads look a tad bemused during his live show?
im almost positive i saw kim and steve of sonic youth in the audience here, really cool
yep, that's them
Thurston Moore is the tall guy standing up front as well.
I mean he was in New York with them at the time.
Fuck Kim. She bagged on Daniel in naurdwar interview calling him a freak
Where's Kim?
Never been to Pier Platters...but thanks for posting this clip of DJ...
RIP Daniel
