I understand why Askeladd acknowledged Bjorn as his friend. But the moment I saw Bjorn join the fight below instead of distancing himself (like Askeladd does) from the rest of vikings is the moment I understand why Askeladd considered Bjorn could never be the right friend for him.
Thorfinn is obviously missing Askeladd. The way he imagines him putting his hand on his shoulder when Thorfinn reaches into subconscious for resolve and support. And how he sees Askeladd on those Roman pillars in Valhalla... That early morning long time ago when Askeladd told him about Britania and Roman Empire - just before shit got real with Askeladd's decision to capture Canute. That talk meant a lot to Thorfinn - Askeladd teaching him history at sunrise. Being all alone against the cruelty and tragedy of this world, Thorfinn is longing for someone beside him to lean on, to draw strength from. And he turns to Askeladd for that.🖤
OMG I REWATCHED THE FIRST PART SO MANY TIMES!! I'M SO HAPPY TO HAVE ANOTHER ONE TO OBSESS OVER 😭 I LOVE VINLAND SAGA SO MUCH! THORFINN'S AND ASKELADD'S DYNAMIC IS ONE OF MY FAVORITES
lol i love how this is basically every time askeladd appears in season 2.
There is also a little scene, where Thorfinn sees Askeladd in the forest for a couple of seconds in 2x08
what about the ending?
@@SirToaster9330 well, i say "basically". sure, he appears for a brief second at the end too.
That's sad
