  • I forgot to mention, as the head gets smaller it will have less capacity to dissipate heat. Therefore, it's very important that you dip the tip in water more frequently, assuming you keep the pressure against the grinding wheel consistent. Yellowing is the first indication that you're overheating the metal. Blackish-blue is bad. Never get to yellow and you'll be fine.

This is a quick and fast way to make these pick. That's a good tip about applying pressure with a wet finger. Cheers

I've seen Albert label and nigbee make these still slightly outside my comfort zone but I feel a push coming on😁I think I need a bigger bench grinder Is what I think lol. Thanks for sharing mate and have a great week 🙏👍🤜🤛

The key is having the right handle. Use the skills that you have to make your own signature handles. I know a grub screw is critical no matter what handle you make. I recommend 1.3mm and 1.4mm by 100mm ejector pins. They are readily available on AliExpress.

@@laurenarndt464 good stuff , thanks for the info mate. I still struggle with DD locks, bit I'm awfully tempted now to have a few goes at a dimple pick . Appreciated🙏🤜🤛

@@Nicks-PicksI haven't played with DD's in awhile. I have one of the most expensive DD padlocks coming in the mail soon. I think it will be an exuse to break out my jig I made several years ago. It's like having training wheels on your pick, keeping your pick concentric within the keyway.

@@laurenarndt464 sounds cool, would like to see that. I agree some DDs, I keep going back to them but I still struggle to feel anything. It'll come one day I'm sure, just not yet lol half the battle is patience so I can wait until it "clicks" (pun intended)🤣

@@Nicks-Picks I discovered that if you orient the padlock in your vise and have the side bar lays closest to the table, you can add a little finger pressure to the pick as you rotate a disc. This technique will definitely give you clicks. I think I show this jig in one of my earliest videos. I need to check.
