    I got my pick this week. I am over the moon! So excited
    Sadly, there is a colossal failure I've noticed. Quick spoiler, at the end of the day I still absolutely love this tool and would have bought more of it wasn't a limit one per customer.
    The failure I ran into is the tensioning prongs are too short for some locks with an anti drill collar. They chew up the edges of the first disk because they dont sit propper center on the first disk.
    It is possible I am doing something wrong and an open to any advice from other users. Any lock without that anti drill collar obviously does not have any issue.
    The trickiest part of picking is keeping tention torque perfectly aligned so the tip spins true. Lastly the tip may be tight in the key way. that's not really a problem. Just an observation.
    I plan to modify my tool to address the short prongs. Probably a terrible idea but I plan to buy a second one when they come back in stock and the tool now, with its short prongs, is useless on locks with fat anti drill collars.
    The good news. This tool is absolutely incredible! Being able to adjust the tool during set up makes picking easier is a huge plus. The lines on the handle takes some of the guess work out with some practice. I have a few personal tricks I want to try with some outside accessories in hopes to make picking easier.
    Thank you LpL and BB for this great tool, oh ya, and sparrows for manufacturing.

    @Bosnianbill - I have a general question, relevant to this video but mainly relevant for newish lock pickers everywhere. Without having to search the Internet every time, how does one know what type of lock we're faced with if confronted with an unknown lock? Pin tumbler, dimple, disc detainer, etc etc - with so many makes and model numbers out there, do we have to just learn them, or is there a way to tell? This happened to me when we lost the key to the padlock on an old garden shed, and I said "Oh, no problem, I'll just pick it". It took an hour of stuffing around, using every pick in the bag, and I still had no idea what type of lock it was. Then my wife came out and said "Is this the key?" It was on an old key ring of spare keys and it worked...!! So how do we know? How can we tell? Are there any clues to look for? By the way, the garden shed padlock was an unnamed brand that was some weird pin tumbler/dimple hybrid I think - the key had bitting on the top edge but also dimples on both sides.

    • @bosnianbill
      @bosnianbill  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Pete, as you gain a little experience and familiarity with locks you will find it easy to determine what kind of lock you are facing. Pin tumblers and disc detainers are quite different in appearance, as are dimple locks. Soon, with a short glance, you will know what kind of lock it is and that will determine which pick to use.

    Hi Bill,
    got mine through this week, but both tips were spinning before I even got it into a lock :( just from very light finger pressure.
    On close inspection I i could only see a hairs-width of weld between the tip and the rod at 2-points, and it just seemed to be mostly friction-fit.... I'll silver-solder them back on, but assuming I just got bad couple from a friday-evening batch....
    It is otherwise a beautifully made (and designed) piece of kit!!, and I certainly wouldn't want to put anyone off it!!

      Or they were until they bought one! :D
      Janes Fair: They listed the price as 1,000,000 CAD to keep people from forcing them into their cart. They will put the price back at their "usual" price once they are back in stock.

    I noticed at the Lock Picking Lawyer's channel this notable pick is known as The Pick that Bosnian Bill and I Made. I’ve been thinking, when these picks become more numerous what if they decide to split up and choose sides? It could be disastrous! Can you imagine thousands of these picks fighting to see which one gets to pick the next lock? What if they decided they wanted independence?
    Or, heaven forbid they just don’t like each other? Other picks could start joining one side or the other it could mean all out war!
    No wonder that company wants a million dollars!

    1 tip I can mention too, hopefully it can help someone struggling, is make sure u don't stick the disc pick too far into the lock. U might end up tensioning the first disc and then ull never be able to pick it

    Great video on showing the pick in action and explaining it's features👌
    I would of liked the tip been made from a single piece for more strength and durability.
    I wonder if Sparrows are going to sell extra tips as there are various keyways.
    Now get to work on a non front disk tensioning version lol.

      They designed this one to fit 99% of locks

    • @KeylessEntry
      @KeylessEntry 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Janes Fair But 99% of DD locks don't tension from the front, only 99% of the cheap low security locks.
      I have quite a few locks that tension from the rear disk or a random mid disk like the Abus 88/50 plus and countless others. I had to heavily modify a cheap Chinese DD pick, the one with the blue handle, to pick them.
      The Sparrows DD pick will only pick front disc tensioning DD locks.

    • @jamesfair9751
      @jamesfair9751 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Keyless Entry I know and you can tension from other disc with this tool it’s not just for front tension

    • @KeylessEntry
      @KeylessEntry 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Janes Fair This tool's design is based on front tensioning and agree it can be used to tension from other discs but it's quite difficult especially with locks that have multiple false gates. That's why I have 2 very different DD picks. I would like to see BB or LPL open an Abloy Protec2 core with this tool without having a lot of trouble. All I'm saying in my original comment is it would be great to see a quality non front tensioning pick from Sparrows.

      Janes Fair How exactly would you go about tensioning and picking an Abus 88/50, maybe I've been doing it wrong this whole time.

    One other thing to understand with dd locks is that the first disc can sometimes need to be turned counterclockwise while tensioning from a zero cut disc to achieve an open.
