However, there were no casualties at the al-Tanf garrison as Russia had warned the US about the attack in advance. Moscow said the attack was aimed at targeting local fighters allied with the US who are opposed to Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad. The important difference is that the Russans are there at the invitatation of the Syrian government, but the Americans are merely exercising their right to send troops into any country of their choice at any time they please, without the formality of asking permission.

They invited Saddam Hussein Loyalists to funding Islamic State, then they invited them to take Mossul, then they invited them to go to Syria to take Aleppo, then the Islamic State funded the Islamic Caliphate and want to take Bagdad and Damaskus. And in the End the United States invited themself to Syria.

The Kurds did. The unofficial country of Kurdistan in the NE region of syria and Iraq. It is recognized by Iraq. The Kurds invited the US almost a decade ago since Assad was gaining on the Kurds. The US has been helping Kurds since then. I understand many people in this comment section haven't done their research. Also these airstrikes are nothing new. A few years ago Russian Wagner forces attacked US soldiers at checkpoint which resulted in multiple Russian casualties and no American casualties. The US would kater track the battalion back to its base. The US then called Russia and asked if they were its troops(the US knew they were already tho). Russia would respond with no. The US would then airstrike the base resulting in casualties ranging from 200 to 500. Russia would them call back saying they were its troops and to stop firing.

Excellent factual journalism giving context to the extent and location of US action --- legal or not.
Russia is showing here that ISIL has not gone away [expect growing strength in Afghanistan which America ran away from], that the middle east is still very unstable, that Turkey, which is crucial to Black Sea and the 'Stan's' development in 'Caspian Asia' has borders with Syria and the main middle east countries.
Given that America's key interest is in the Indo-Pacific region and especially China Russia is reminding the US that conflicts present and future are related.
And as with occasional 'soft' missile strikes on Odesa, Lviv and Kharkiv Russia is showing its powers of reach.
The Ukraine conflict is exciting the media and generating superficial 'loyalties' but its overall importance will be minimal when Ukraine and its neighbors develop as an important Eurasian economic region supplying markets east and west.
The USA as constituted at present and western Europe are declining in importance and need to know their place.
