I was so lucky to be in the room during this session. One thing that struck me is not only how talented, but how incredibly likeable they are. Such a fun group
I'm glad they come across as a fun group in person too. From their annual Halloween videos to their funky twitter posts, they seem like they truly enjoy each other's company. It's a little surprising given how long they've been together, that they aren't sick of each other like so many other touring bands.
Oh, it's funny you say that, because I've only just discovered them and have sat up all night listening and watching their performances - and having watched this, that's exactly what I was going to say! So likeable, with a great sense of humour and something to say AS WELL AS the music. And the music stands on its own anyway, the personalities are an unexpected and delightful bonus.
So true. It's rare to hear such a crisp rock sound out of an upright bass, and she's seriously laying it down and singing complicated backups at the same time. Unreal.
No surprise about the wonderful songs, but kudos also to the Interviewer. Very well researched allowing for intelligent questions and he smoothly transistions from topic to the next.
Just spent half of Christmas Day and most of boxing day bingeing on this wonderful new talent I’ve discovered while on my new Christmas headphones… just wow. Cheers from Melbourne Australia… !
They're fans of the Beatles makes so much sense. Great music, both bands. I've heard people say, where has all the great music gone? Well, here, for one.
Just saw the band again in London on Thursday. They were spectacularly good. The blend of voices, the playing, the versatility added up to an amazing whole. They ought to be seen as one of the best bands in the world right now.
This is not my kind of music, but I can't help but appreciate the talent here every time this band crosses my path. I don't understand the few people who give this thumbs down - fantastic interview, and if your brain can't handle this then just move on down the road and leave the little buttons alone! Glad to see them growing and getting well-deserved airplay.
It's February 2023 and I only heard LSD yesterday and don't even know how it just appeared. Wish they were playing in my neighborhood today. There's a Lake Street in my town but no Dive to see.
Great interview as well as the tunes. It's so refreshing to hear an interview where the host has actually researched and listened and has a freaking clue.
Always a wonderful display of professionalism, showmanship, and skill. Amazing group. I saw them live in Orlando and I was blown away. Just stumbled upon them on a random TH-cam .... just a phenomenal group.
Couldn’t agree more. I just came on here to say the exact same thing. Plus she’s the best singer in the world since Amy Winehouse. What a joy it is to have these geniuses on the pitch to entertain us. If you haven’t already check out Blake Mills and Gillian Welch.
Great band no doubt and I'm a fan. However, Jon Hart sets a high standard that others should meet. Most won’t, so be thankful for Jon’s wonderful interviews. A true treasure.
Great interview of one of the best bands in any genre, and their sound transcends any label! Working with Dave Cobb obviously opened up some doors for them to expand creatively and I’m happy for it! Can’t wait to see them the next time I’m we’re able!
This is a really good interview, band was relaxed and I learned some new stuff. Jon did a nice job of touching on early years, NEC and making of Side Pony. Songs were great. Thanks Jon! and of course Rachael, Bridget, Mike and McDimples.
Having now watched as many LSD videos on TH-cam as I can find, this one and the Bose Better Sound session stand out to my ears as having the best sound quality. Most noticeable with Bridget's bass and all of the harmonies - hearing both in their full glory is jaw dropping how good they are. I also noticed for the first time that it basically takes the entire rest of the band going all out with their instruments and vocals to provide an equal counterweight to the power of Rachael's voice, which is insane. Kudos to the audio team and can't wait to see LSD for the first time in September!
Fantastic....They really orchestrate so fluidly - I'm sure it's not without effort, but I really liked the point about how they use harmonies - like it's another instrument basically - I never considered that.
I wonder if she gives lessons? Bridget, in my humble opinion and somewhat limited experience, is the best musician to play a bass since Jaco Pastorius or Rob Wasserman slapped those lower frequencies around. (May they RIP). She adds melodically and dynamically to everything they play....OH the whole damn band's like that - but what a treat to listen to her and I like the fact that her playing is not buried either in live performance or in a studio mix. I be a fan.
Their vocals are beyond amazing, in all the live stuff I've listened to I have never heard one hiccup. One other thing, McDuck is so dry, love his take on things !
Such a small thing, but I love when the singer of a band stands with the band and not out in front. Shows that they're part of the group and don't hold themselves above the band.
Joh Hart, come be on our local radio in PA! You're a great interviewer and asked some great, well researched questions to the band. It was so casual and relaxed - somehow perfectly suited to Lake Street's vibe.
I am a fan of the "bare" sound that had when they first started. It is very exposed and thus it shows you just how good they are. Check out their Live @Pickathon 2013 recordings on youtube Amazing stuff.
It cracks me up that the description is of LSD being a "Brooklyn, NY band", when they met and formed at school on Boston, MA. They just happened to be living in Brooklyn when this video was recorded.😄
I wish he could ask if the first line of Side Pony is "got a ferret of hair on my shoulder" or " I got a Parrot of hair on my shoulder". People need to know, or not, LOve it all anyway.
I like the way he spit the kazoo out at the end of the solo. What a talented group of artists. I'm just being turned on to them and I hope there's a considerable amount of music to hear from them.
Nothing but love for Lake Street Dive. Absolutely fantastic!!! Particularly noting that you have one of the worlds greatest Bassists!!
I was so lucky to be in the room during this session. One thing that struck me is not only how talented, but how incredibly likeable they are. Such a fun group

I wish.

Insane interview, camera work, audio mixing, and performance. Sometimes everything comes together at once. Absolute magic!!
I never imagined writing this in a TH-cam comment, but that was the best kazoo playing I've ever heard.
😂🤣 Thanks for listening!
That voice gets me every time. Craziest smooth, rich tone in the biz.
Thank you so much fro sharing... suuuch a GREAT band! Just love em'!
Not just the best interview of this band, but one of the best interviews of any band ever. Excellent job by the host.
what a bassist
Badass Bridgie
Yep. Everyone in the group is pretty amazing, but she stands out.
So true. It's rare to hear such a crisp rock sound out of an upright bass, and she's seriously laying it down and singing complicated backups at the same time. Unreal.
I think I've listened to a lot of music....I mean a lot.....This is soooooooo fucking good, I can't get them out of my head!!!!!
I was first introduced to these guys in late December 2018 to the song.."You Go Down Smooth
I have decided Lake Street Dive is one of my favorite bands they are amazing !!
Pleasant on the ears. Love to hear them cover a Gerry Rafferty song like Right Down The Line!
No surprise about the wonderful songs, but kudos also to the Interviewer. Very well researched allowing for intelligent questions and he smoothly transistions from topic to the next.
Outstanding interview... great research by Jon Hart. Such delight. And great music.
Just spent half of Christmas Day and most of boxing day bingeing on this wonderful new talent I’ve discovered while on my new Christmas headphones… just wow.
Cheers from Melbourne Australia… !
Fabulous, absolutely FABULOUS!!! Beautiful harmonies gang.... You are all so very talented... I bow to you all...
The great camera work just added to the amazing vibe of this show
John was my professor for broadcasting in his 1st year here. And mine. Kudos for what you have built John
They're fans of the Beatles makes so much sense. Great music, both bands. I've heard people say, where has all the great music gone? Well, here, for one.
I saw them just recently in StLouis. Amazing. I have listened to them every day since.
Just saw the band again in London on Thursday. They were spectacularly good. The blend of voices, the playing, the versatility added up to an amazing whole. They ought to be seen as one of the best bands in the world right now.
Loved them so much.

Best kazoo I ever knew
It's February 2023 and I only heard LSD yesterday and don't even know how it just appeared. Wish they were playing in my neighborhood today. There's a Lake Street in my town but no Dive to see.
I heard them once and I am already buying tickets to a concert in less than a month I am stoked.
These guys are just fantastic!
MHMMM!
Another great musical performance, accompanied with, yet again, a thoughtful interview by Jon...thank you 90.9
Thank YOU for watching and supporting us. Can't do it without you!
Great interview as well as the tunes. It's so refreshing to hear an interview where the host has actually researched and listened and has a freaking clue.
Well thank you! Jon is relentless in his research because the artists deserve it! PS. great name. Jacobus deRottmann. Stuff of legend.
Yes - that was refreshing - lots of music interviews are terrible.
Always a wonderful display of professionalism, showmanship, and skill. Amazing group. I saw them live in Orlando and I was blown away. Just stumbled upon them on a random TH-cam .... just a phenomenal group.
The best band out there right now hands down
Steve Sharkey Bobby!
Couldn’t agree more. I just came on here to say the exact same thing. Plus she’s the best singer in the world since Amy Winehouse. What a joy it is to have these geniuses on the pitch to entertain us. If you haven’t already check out Blake Mills and Gillian Welch.
Agreed! Saw them last night in Dallas. They blew us away!!
Such a wonderful breath of fresh air!
Absolutely talented group of musicians! I count them amoung my favorite bands and artists of all time!
Great band no doubt and I'm a fan. However, Jon Hart sets a high standard that others should meet. Most won’t, so be thankful for Jon’s wonderful interviews. A true treasure.

Fabulous group. Just discovered them today!
I am always coming to the party late but I was quick to get the CDs and enjoy the videos quite a lot I like the people and I like their dynamic.
Just fashionably late Cliff. All the cool kids do that.
God love this videography! Such great quality!
Thanks for the compliment! We are blushing.
Bass lines are perfection
This is a really fantastic interview. Very well researched!
The performance is solid too ;)
This is a really good interview, band was relaxed and I learned some new stuff. Jon did a nice job of touching on early years, NEC and making of Side Pony. Songs were great. Thanks Jon! and of course Rachael, Bridget, Mike and McDimples.

Holy Bridget's bass!!!

Love. This. Band.
So good!
Such a small thing, but I love when the singer of a band stands with the band and not out in front. Shows that they're part of the group and don't hold themselves above the band.
True. But then again It is nota called frontman for nothing

You can't have him. ; ) We won't let him go, but you can stream The Bridge online: bridge909.org Thanks for watching!
Best kazoo solo I've heard in years
Omg same
Beautiful Band , they have there own sound. Love LSD music, the interpretation of Lola is tasteful.

Great music great people
Fantastic!
bravissimi !! li sto seguendo..certo che in Italia sono sconosciuti, peccato !
They are tremendous! Fascinating interview. Great mix too. Some of their TH-cam videos “undersell” them (if that’s possible.)
Thanks! They were a ton of fun to have in. Glad you like the interview and mix. Lake Street Dive did the heavy lifting!
Ace interview, subscribed! Love LSD to death, what a fun band.
Thanks for the subscribe and for watching! Jon does his best to deliver the best interview he can. Really, the artist deserve it. Thanks again!
It cracks me up that the description is of LSD being a "Brooklyn, NY band", when they met and formed at school on Boston, MA. They just happened to be living in Brooklyn when this video was recorded.😄
I'm a new fan!!👍
I had to go back an watch Thank the Good Lord to see the Kazoo solo, I didn't even notice it the first time. Funny that he made such a note of it.
My 1st time 5.2022. I'm sad that I could have had them in my life for the last 5 years.
great vibe
McDuck doing a Kazoo solo? Hells yeah!
such a cool band!
Class. Professional.
In french : qu’elle voix et quelle présence ! I w!sh i were thé guitarist !
Lola has literally NEVER sounded better!
Maybe it's the studio? JK it's definitely Lola. But the studio probably doesn't hurt..
Epic band is epic. The only thing that could tip this group into 'perfection' territory is more songs featuring the kazoo.
The world could use some more kazoo. #KazooIsTheNewCowbell
The Avengers of music!
Rachel Price is a Goddess ! I LOVE you, Rachel.
Les More - Her name is spelled Rachael.
Yes !
Lake Street dive is hot in their own way!
Jon is so likable.
Nice bass!
please make a seperate video of all the songs done here
This little TV studio in Kansas City must be considered Patrimonio cultural de la Humanidad por la UNESCO. Saludos desde Uruguay.
(-; COOL (-; ❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥
I wish he could ask if the first line of Side Pony is "got a ferret of hair on my shoulder" or
" I got a Parrot of hair on my shoulder". People need to know, or not, LOve it all anyway.
I'm so in love... pls help
Who did the steadicam work? Great job!
Thanks! We're blushing! All done in house.
it took a super long time for music to start
\
Starting at 19:21 I cannot tell if that's just Bridget's face or if she is judging harshly what Rachel is saying? 🧐
Just now watching this….May be the best look into LSD ever. 😎
triple thumbs up
Music starts at 7:24
Thanks
I like the way he spit the kazoo out at the end of the solo. What a talented group of artists. I'm just being turned on to them and I hope there's a considerable amount of music to hear from them.
Kazoo, really? Awesome - these guys are great, they just have too much fun with their music - the way it should be.
Getting better with age and experience...aren't they.
yup snow gone Maine thanks
The audience wants to see dates.
Dang, which YT algorithm led me here? Thanks to it anyway!
The best one. We will let it know your appreciative!
