I appreciate people naming their kids names they like even if they are common.
I first heard my daughters name (Willow) 20 years ago and everyone thought it was a way out there hippy name. I've loved it ever since. 6 years ago when i had her it was getting popular but I just couldn't give it up. She suits the name so well and I get a lot of compliments on it. So I'm happy with my choice even if it's gotten super popular
I just named my baby Florence. I was hesitant as it’s so popular in the U.K. (we’re moving back next year) but it’s in the 700’s in the US where I currently live and I love the aesthetic of it written in cursive 💕

I just named my baby girl her middle name Florence and I absolutely love it, but her name is inspired from our trip to Italy

I actually had a customer at work (I’m a bartender) come up to me and tell me that it’s come out, because I had previously went on a whole info-dump about names and how interesting they are 😂 and he tried to tell me that the number 1 boy name in the uk was Mohammed (I said no it’s been Oliver for years!) and the other day he came to the bar and went “Noah has dethroned Oliver!” everyone else was like wtf are you guys talking about?!

We chose the name Ottilie for our daughter back in 2015. She’s named after my great grandma and we just loved it from the beginning. We pronounce it “AH-tih-lee”. We live in the US btw 🙂

I haven’t heard Elvira pronounced El-Vera, but in the States, at least my great grandmother was Elvira, and we’ve always said it VI as in Violet, El-VI-ra! But could be just us!
Olivine and Lydia are beauties! Idk how many young mothers have seen Sally Field in the movie Sybil but that’s all I think of when I hear that name. And be careful with Lumi because they’ve come out with a hygiene product pronounced the same but spelled Lume and it’s deodorant “for pits & private parts” I think is even their slogan. 😮

We have a Olivianna and we get so many compliments, got the Olivia and Olive vibes but I love longer names than you can shorten so this was perfect for us 💕

Your name lists are always so beautiful and well thought out! Ottilia (or Ottilie, with the e like an é) is just coming through in our group in Sweden and I am obsessed! My husband has vetoed it but how beautiful!? So many nicknames, too. It's gorgeous.

In Spain Beatrice is still a super popular name and the nickname is Bea but with Spanish pronunciation is 'Bay-a' which is super nice!

I have a little Sybil! Little sister to Danielle, I tried to talk my husband into Heidi, Lydia, or Esther but he wouldn't go for it. I actually never really had it on my radar until we were talking one day and it just felt right, funny how that works.

My name is Lilia! The traditional spelling is actually Lilia - meaning lily flower 🥰 It has Russian, Latin, Italian & Hawaiian origins.

So many of these were already on my list. Beatrix/Beatrice, Felicity, Agnes (Aggie, Nessie), Liesl, Lydia, Delphine, Lilia (Lili), Pearl, etc. I like Maeve but I can’t use it as it’s already used by a family friend. Also an alternative to Pearl is the French version Magali. Ottillie (Ottie Otter, Tillie) is pretty but it doesn’t fit with my limitations for baby names (family letters & sounds)

Me and my friends were stalking the ONS website at 9:30 on Wednesday! I love Beatrice/Beatrix, Mabel, Sybil, Lyra, Daphne*, Maeva, and Mavis (as an alternative to Maeve).
And of course, Margot is in my top three absolute FAVOURITE girls names. Hopefully it will drop by the time I have kids (not planning to any time soon).
*me and my friends are all fighting over this one! Especially two - A has it as her favourite, while E’s favourite is Phoebe but her brother is having a baby girl called Phoebe, so she loves Daphne as an alternative…we’re already getting possessive and we’re only 13!

I prefer Beatrix over Beatrice, it's actually been my top pick for a girls name for a while now. Sybil reminds me of Faulty Towers🤣, though I can see it is a pretty name, Sibylla is quite lovely too. I love Elvira!
I had my Margo 5 years ago! We opted to leave the 't' off as people were pronouncing it. NOBODY I knew had a Margo but now I see Margot/Margo/Margaux all over the place!

I had an Aunt Ida Mae who was *always* Ida Mae, never shortened. It sounded really old to me when I was a child, but I kind of like it now.

I had my Margot six months ago (she was a toss up between that and Beatrix haha) - not in the UK and it's very uncommon here, to the point that people reading her name often pronounce the t on the end 🙃🙄

My Margot is 2.5 years old. We live in France but when we travel back to the UK she has had the "t" pronounced there a few times including at passport control!!

I love love the name Sybil. I have come to love Lydia so much, I go to church and so there's a lot of older and littler Lydia's around. Dakota has been one of my favourite names for a longgg time, such a cool, adventure type name. Avery too, love this one. Margot!! such a cute name, I love this one, and I love that it's rising! I really don’t like Elvira, at all, but I love Lydia, Claudia & Liesl. I couldn’t get any of those past my husband. Oh well, I wound up with a Lillian (Lily) and Abigail (Abbey), and I’m content. Dakota, Phoenix, Montana, Virginia & Georgia are also far too common in the US. I have a cousin named Virginia, but I would’ve used Georgia.

I really like the name Lyra but my Step-MIL is Laura and afraid it sounds too similar. Could be a tribute name but it's his step mother, not his bio mother which is still alive and very much part of the family. Feels strange to go in that direction. I also LOVE Lydia but his sister's name is Olivia nn Liv and those also sound the same. Why do my favs have to be so close to family members names 😭
