*BIRTH ANNOUNCEMENT* Tobias Henry Aldridge Born 28/12/22 💙 Been following you for years SJ and have now named my third and final baby 💙💙💙 Thank you for all your inspiration 😊 Lovely to have you back. Hope you're all doing well xxx
Oh my goodness, this list was amazing! Would love to hear a Part 2, also inspired by Dark Academia and maybe even some cottagecore, fairy fantasy fusion🥰
Loved this video SJ! Such a trendy aesthetic at the moment and my inner book nerd loved the meaning behind them! It’s made me think I’d LOVE to see a Shakespeare themed baby name Monday😍
Love this list!😍 my husband and I are really hoping 2023 is the year we get pregnant with our miracle IVF baby🤞🏼 would love to see a list of baby names for miracle/IVF babies ☺️
Uncertain if this correlates, but one name I recently came across (typically used for those who identify as female, but could be used for anyone) is the name Nephele (pronounced nef•uh•lee or nef•eh•lee). She was the Greek goddess of clouds and therefore the name means cloudy. To me, it caters not only to the physical climate associated with dark academia, but to the poetic and literary aura as well. Always a pleasure to see a new video up 😌
This list is darkly cool! I love so many of names here! Casimir, Sybil, Skylar, Rue, Victor. Names like this just have that unique dark aura that spellbinds you and draws you in. So many of the names that we love from dark fiction are coming out and I love it!
Rue is also a nature or botanical name. It's an herb used for cooking and medicine so it can be a nature name. Rue also means "street" in French. Ruey is an uncommon French surname meaning small stream. So, if the "regret" meaning has you a bit hesitant to use the name, you can think of these meanings or use it as a nickname for Ruth, Ruby, Rudy, etc.
I’m so glad you’re back, and hope you enjoyed your break! I adore Rue, it’s one of my favourites because of the Hunger Game’s character (they seem to all fit the Dark Academia theme…) . It can also be short for Ruth meaning “friend”, and it means “street” in French. I also adore Sybil, Elsinore, Winter, Bronte, Nyx, Ebony, and Solstice. This list is so gorgeous!
Gave birth to my baby girl Luna Nightingale -surname) would love hear what you think! I've always loved the name Luna, and because her surname is long I wanted something short and sweet as a first name ❤️🌙
Happy New Year! So glad to see you back doing Baby Name Monday. You have been missed. This list was fantastic. I know a few Winter/Wynter's all girls. I had a Wynter as a student (preschool) a couple years ago with an August birthday. Her mom's favorite season is winter, and with the way our summers have been, I am sure she was wishing it was winter when her child was born. It is such a beautiful name. I also really enjoy the name Casimir. It's on my list as a middle spot if I ever have a boy (I have set initials to honor a family member). My husband would add these names to the list: Shelley, Poe, Astrid, and Skadi/Skathi (we like the spelling with the d best).
BIRTH ANNOUNCEMENT 😊 On 12th December We had our first little girl after 4 boys and named her Evadne . We had originally decided , with the BNE communities help, to name her Evadne Seraphine Dove . My husband now thinks it sounds " too soft " or " too light" for her (in spite of the strong meaning of Seraphine) because she is a spirited fiesty one , hahaha . He is suggesting we go with Evadne Larkin Rune , which was the other name combo we were considering . Any thoughts/ suggestions ? Thanks so much , love your videos and have watched every one at least once . Wishing I had 5 more girls to give all the amazing names I've found through you.
Seraphine Dove is stunning! Sounds like a beautiful, strong women like Odette from Swan Princess💕 Larkin Rune is very cool! She sounds like a Katniss Everdeen! I think they’re both beautiful, and spirited! You can’t go wrong with either! What about mixing both, and coming up with something new like Calliope Lake😅
I’ve always loved how Cato and Sybil sounds in English as well as their meanings. Especially Sybil is a favourite of mine, but it doesn’t really work in Norway. Morgana is so pretty though and also Brontë, so I’ll put both on my list. Also, I do recommend The Secret History. It’s such an interesting book!
Long time listener. Can’t wait to have a baby one day. I got a positive pregnancy test for 48 hours after our first month TTC. But it turned into a chemical pregnancy (pretty sure) 😢 but I’m surprisingly doing well! I got my period today a few days late and it’s painful BUT what I’m happy about is I think I could get pregnant again. So we’ll keep trying ❤❤❤❤ send all your baby dust this way xoxo - Lauren
Especially because it was obvious that he felt she could do "better" in terms of looks and youth, and he admired her hard work, sacrifice and choice to leave her family of origin to follow her who she believed in.
Amazing list!!! 👏 I love love love dark academia names! Love Casimir, Rue, Boaz, Blaise, Soren, Sybil, Elsinore, Winter, Solstice, Morgana, Bronte, Nyx! So beautiful!! ❤🔥
I am so very glad that you are back posting names. I hope you and your family are well and had a lovely holiday season. I have long loved Boaz. It is one of my favorite underused Biblical names for a little boy. I like Kardama but much more for a little girl. I' would use Kara as the short form for Kardama. I know a very pretty and sweet little two year old girl called Skylar. Sybil , I have loved since I was watching Downtown Abbey. I think it has a genteel Edwardian cottage core feel to it I really like Devin . Here in America it is attractive but far from a fresh option. Bran is rakishly handsome as does Victor, which deserves greater use. Elsinore is just so very dreamy and deserves greater use. Yes, I would use Winter for a little girl if I could. But, I have a beautiful niece called Autumn, so I don't feel like that we can have cousins called Autumn and Winter. I would add Guinevere, Deirdre and Wednesday to this list. In fact I think Deirdre Winter would be quite a lovely name for a little girl. Very nicely done as usual. Thank you. Great to have you back.
Yey you're back 🥰 HNY!! ❤️ the theme. Faves are Boaz, Bran, Roux (spelt this way), Blaise, Pascal, Soren, Skylar, Solstice & Nixie. Are you still planning a best 2022 books video? 😊😊😊
Would love to see a video with some alternatives to fastest growing names and most popular names! I know you have done some but definitely my favourite 🙊
i think this is my sign to use the name Casimir in a future book i’m planning to write because ever since i heard it the first time i’ve never stopped thinking about it!
I would add 'Scholastica' to this list! It feels too clunky for me, but my husband loves it. She was the twin sister of Saint Benedict, who's one of my favourite saints.
We've currently got an Evangeline and a Johannes with a second girl on the way. Any suggestions for girls' names to go with these? My husband had rejected everything I've mentioned and offered back nothing at all!
I'm having identical twin boys in June. Four names to choose. What do you all think of Alistair and Declan? I have a daughter named Georgiana-- we generally call her Georgie.
Georgiana gives me victorian english vibes. So to me Alistair fits great but Declan doesn't fit to my mind. Maybe you can look to the austen and brontè works if you want to. BUT....the most important thing is that you and your partner like the name. I'd like Alistair and Brandon for example.
@@MsKatastrophenBarbie Thank you for your thoughts! I so appreciate it! Declan is our favorite boy name at the moment. After commenting this I kept rethinking Alister. SJ, your Australian accent is hilarious🤣. Casimir is a fav for me, it's meaning is interesting, I have read that it means both destroyer of peace AND bringer of peace, which is intriguing! I think Tadhg fits the dark academia theme, it means poet or philosopher.
Here is an absolute forgotten beauty for a girl, this was an old family name. She was a mother of two boys that grew up to be heroes! Sidonia. I love this unusual powerful yet elegant name for a girl. Please help bring this one back!
Morgana makes me think of Morgiana (the g has more of a j sound so it is like Mor-jee-ana) that we've had on our list for a while. No real meaning as far as I know, but I'm a little worried about if she'd end up with the nickname Morg (again with like a j ending so like Morj).
I adore the name Sybil! It’s probably my favorite name for a little girl. Unfortunately, my partner’s last name is Wright, and I’m not sure I could have a Sybil Wright 🤦♀️
I love Casimir and I would have gone with it, but for its meaning. Two contradictory meanings, actually, bringer of peace and destroyer of peace. I just can't name my my son this.

Boaz is mentioned twice. One for the pillar during the reign of solomon and the other as ruths husband. 1 Kings 7:21 (ESV) He set up the pillars at the vestibule of the temple. He set up the pillar on the south and called its name Jachin, and he set up the pillar on the north and called its name Boaz

Some ‘Light’ Academia names:
Girls: Odette, Sage, Palmer, Blair/Blaire, Felicity, Margot
Boys: Sutton, Spencer, Henry, Olivier, Darcy, Graham
We have a son named Spencer and just had our second son Darcy! So funny to see them both pop up on a list!
Oh my goodness, this list was amazing! Would love to hear a Part 2, also inspired by Dark Academia and maybe even some cottagecore, fairy fantasy fusion🥰
Oh lush idea!!! I’ll research that xxx
My little one's name Bram got an honourable mention ❤️ The Brontë sisters had a brother called Branwell which seems very fitting for this list!
Oh lush!! Such a gorgeous name ❤
My sister's name is Luthien, which is from Tolkien - it means Nightingale. I have always loved it! I feel it fits this list... Super rare too!

Mirabel/Mirabelle sounds like miracle and means wondrous beauty 😃
Mireya means miracle. I always liked that name, but my hubby didn't.

My friend had a baby in September and named him Soren, and while it is pretty unusual here in the States, I think it is adorable!

Oh!! I just read it up but sounds like you’d know better ❤️❤️❤️ thanks for adding xxxxx
Boaz is mentioned twice. One for the pillar during the reign of solomon and the other as ruths husband.
1 Kings 7:21 (ESV)
He set up the pillars at the vestibule of the temple. He set up the pillar on the south and called its name Jachin, and he set up the pillar on the north and called its name Boaz
That’s my name
Am I the only one that hears Morgana and thinks of the Goddess of death...
