From the official website page:
"E7 can transform your guitar into a typical electronic synthesizer, without the need for special pickups or instrument modifications. It is named as E7, for its seven different MOOER custom synthesizer tones. Each tone with an individual arpeggiator, high/low frequency cut, attack, speed function, allow users to shape the tone in their mind easily, explore the horizon of tone with the E7."
And I might add that it's very good fun!
Today's tools:
Today's tools:
Guitar: 2016 Charvel USA Select San Dimas Style 1
Amp: Axe-FX III

This is the story of my evening so far:
1. Unbox E7. A task in itself.
2. Have merry fun with first 5 modes
3. tweak mode 6 to sound like an old Commodore 64.
4. Play "Stairway to Heaven" as on old Commodore 64
5. Laugh my ass off. Do it again, and again. and again.
6. Pandemonium ensues in the form of an angry wife demanding I stop making that unholy racket
7. Stop making unholy racket but decide it was totally worth it and vow to do so at next opportunity.
Thank you, E7, for briefly making me 19 again.
Y'all are my heroes 🤣🤣
🤣
Having just placed the order for an E7, this made my day. Thanks! 😀👍✌🤙
Annoy the wife much much more !😆😆😆😆
07:05 "what does that note sound like?"
To me, the intro of Michael Jackson's Beat It!
Probably never use that pedal but when I see another fellow Charvel player I watch.
Mooer micro pedals keep getting better and better! This one is so cool!
Ther best part of this tutorial video is that Guitar. What a beautifoul Charvel mate.
This is the best review on the internet for this intricate pedal, practical sounds that might come in handy Comrade Bratt showed ok, thanks to him.
The issue I have with these pedals (like the SY-1 etc) are the fuzz voices. It’s easy to get loads of rich overdrive sounds from a decent FX unit (e.g. Zoom) but cleaner sweeter synth sounds are impossible and this is where I think synth pedals should go for. Excellent demo vid by the way :-)
Synth VCOs create wave forms such as saw, square, and triangle. These pedals use saw or square waves ( the fuzz sounds you mentioned), but usually do not do the triangle (which makes the "sweeter" synth sounds) because the triangle is very close to the natural sound of a clean guitar (which is a sine wave, and similar sounding to the triangle). The reason saws and square waves are used is because their harmonics make the other synth effects like resonant filters stand out more. Filters just sound kind of like a wah pedal on a clean guitar signal, rather than like the classic synth sounds. If you want the sweeter sounds I would recommend you try using the clean guitar signal (sine wave) through the synth pedal effects like the filters, LFO and envelope, however this will sound less "synthy" and just sound like you are running the guitar clean into a wah, vibrato, and slow attack effects.
Believe it or not this thing tracks better and tighter then my boss synth bass pedal at half the cost.
I had the Behringer Bass Synthesizer back in the day, and it was fucking amazing! I used it all the time. I've been looking for one and they sometimes pop on Reverb, but for like 200$, which is a fucking joke.
Not sure about the pedal, but I love the shirt!
Burgs pumping the demos out!!! Keep up the awesome and downright real reviews!
Holy shit I just found out about this pedal! Perfect for my guitars and my synths
I would love if mooer put out an app to edit the synth sounds or a firmware update to clean up the grittiness of the sounds in this pedal. Love it but why put a usb jack in a pedal if you cannot use it?
Why usb port then?
thats actually a really clever preset system
Wow that's more lofi than I though it would be. Like a pog into a synthwah.
Sounds like the music from a Tim & Eric sketch
"Beat It" synth intro?
That is what I think.......
1 and 7 are decent. Arpeggiator is a nice feature. 2-6 miss the mark for me, though.
I love the Charvel!
That E note tone on 7th preset sounds like intro of Michael Jackson's "Beat It"
You managed to find some interesting sounds from across many eras and genres. I liked how it kept offering cute sounds. Although I can imagine myself getting stuck down a pipe with infinite reverb and no way out! Fun Device video.
7:09 -> I think I nailed the sound : Beat It first intro notes by Michael Jackson...? :o
Is this the Grateful Dead in a box?
Sounds good looks fun no tap tempo arpegiator a lot of bending down to get near sync but still for the price I am getting one
This is a funky effect 🥰 sci fi circus..now thats a cool band name right there 😄
Really good demo! You got some really useable sounds out of this! I'm looking for a mini synth pedal this size and thing I might try out the E7 after hearing your demo. Thanks!
Looks like something you don't like but can't stop eating it :D
A neat little lo-fi video game pedal.
Play a bass through it. 😏
That sound in the intro is cool a/f!
Putting some extra fun in the funk!!
That's what I need for my guitar when I'm playing some cumbia sonidera haha
This is a great pedal but you need to use a volume pedal delay effects ect
Great demo. Congrats....
I'm interested in getting this for an alternative lead sound in my rig. Mainly to sound a bit different to everyone else in my local music scene. I liked mode 1 & 7 best. They sound like I could get them close to an effect I have set up in my DAW with a pitch-shifting plugin for synth-like lead tones.
Great playing in the intro
I used to buy all synth pedals i could. Then sold them all and bought a real synth. Best decision ever
What did you get? Roland gr55?... too much fiddling and too much ghosting
@@kenmasters007 All the rolands, akai, ehx, Moog, boss, ibanez, korg... with the exception of the boutique line of pedals, you name it I had it.
@@jumpingman8160 That's kind of what I have been looking into. Guitar is my thing, period. But I love Synths now and beats and all that shit. I used to hate bands that had keyboards, but now I love a lot of it. I mean look at Bucketheads album w/Claypooland Bootsy Collins. That was great stuff.I'm building my first studio and have been looking at Midi-controllers,and ones with Synth capabilities and now I'm looking at 66 key powerhouses. It's Hellishly expensive and with all I do with Guitar and this studio I don't do things half way. I don't think I can afford both. I guess you just have to build your Synth one piece at a time just like everything else unless you're rich. What is the most capable Midi-controller Synth under 1000 USD and 500 USD you would recommend ?
@@teriakamoto most keyboard synths have midi and usb. So you can use them as midi keyboards for your pc vsts if you want to. Luckily for us, we are living in the age of affordable synths. You can get a lot of them under 1k brand new. I own a Novation Ultranova and a Behringer Deepmind 12. Behringer has released some amazing stuff for peanuts. Model D, Neutron, Pro 1, even the Crave (a moog 32 clone) are awesome. ASM has just released an affordable synth with poly after touch called Hydrasynth. A beast.
@@jumpingman8160 I really appreciate your feedback. Thank You ! Have you posted any of your Synth material ? Peace-
Great review
Useful for a specific music/song but definitely a go to pedal when into rock, blues, etc. in general...I use it for ambient church playing with reverb and also, the guitar signal split to send clean signal to a different amp. Works well with that setup...otherwise, it's trash! :)
Good demonstration'
Ready for some space jazz or neon techno funk or New wave Black Synth metal
This dude plays grocery shopping/elevator music. Lol 😂
Too funny.
Shirt is cool tho haha
damn, now I wish the Synth9 I already have had a built-in arpeggiator. I don't really like the sounds on this one nearly as much, but I guess I can just find some other way to arp my stuff.
I think Earthquakes makes an arpeggiator pedal. If you put it after the synth 9 it would sound pretty sweet
Bananana Electronics Tararira? Electro Harmonix pitch fork with a Korg SQ1?
@@samecoff2788 i grabbed an eqd arpanoid and quite like it in a chain!
Does it give a way longer sustain ?
I can't believe you didn't channel your inner John Lord and break into Lazy by Deep Purple. Yeah, that #7 sounded like Beat it and you said "Jacko" ! right when I thought of it. Laughed my ass off. A couple kind of usable tones I guess w/some delay ,reverb, vibrato ? Something to mess around with for Giggles. You're faces said it all Brett. Good Demo. Yep. I Like Mooer but for Synth I'll go Roland and Boss.Boss has a pretty usable pedal out for about 2 bills U.S. and then my new favorite Earthquaker Devices, Carolina, etc. Some great stuff out there for sure but it get's pricey and Mooer and NUX are proving to be out to make some (or attempt to) affordable alternatives. Fun stuff.
The seventh version reminded me of a song - Immunize (feat. Liam H) - from "Pendulum"
Especially at the end of the video. )))
That last note was definitely the intro to Beat It by MJ, hahahaa
Sound wise, the Dirty Robot wins out for me with this variety of pedal, but the presets feature on this E7 looks pretty convenient. Great demo.
I was just watching videos of the Dirty Robot and it sounds pretty damn amazing and versatile, but considering I'm not sure I would really want to use it so often, let alone like it, the price on this thing is pretty enticing!
Digitech synth wah does what dirty robot does and more
The music in the intro is as good as any of the Mike Post theme songs our any of the other luminaries (except maybe if we're talking about Sanford and Son, but that's Quincy Jones, so...). Why aren't you writing for American television shows in the 1970s? Lack of a time machine? Probably the answer.
how does one update the firmware? The mower manual is lacking
5:44
Can this pedal also be connected to multi-effects devices?
One of Jacko's songs - Dirty Diana synth stab to be precise.
In simple terms, how would any of you compare this to the Source Audio C4 synth ?
Can that pedal do the sounds on Van Halen Dancing in the street?
It seems like it would be fun to play with. Personally I was hoping it would be voiced similar to the EHX Synth-9. But for about half the price I guess you can't be too picky.
It's actually more like a third of the price of Synth-9.
@7:07.....Beat It
Y esa entrada usb para que sirve?
Can it do the sound from the solo to worry by hoops?
Well they certainly did a good job on this. Some synthesiser pedals don't sound good at all. Wow and it's got an arpeggiator. I've got a g2m Mark 2. Which tracks really well. Only thing I wish was it wasn't mono but oh well
Bro you had the attack all the way up for half of the modes :((( thats not a normal way to showcase any synth.
.
That's why I'm not a synth player, I guess.
Does what guitar you're playing make a difference? I've got a Les Paul Gibson
...This sounds like a Mike Post theme song from the 70's.
...how old do you have to be to get that reference?
From a show about an ex con who teams up with a wealthy retired rich person to investigate crimes the police can’t solve
@@Havanacuba1985
...you understand....one of us...one of us...etc...
Hi.can this pedal replicate the synth sounds of 7th son álbum of iron maiden? Thanks a lot....
“I like it up, cos then I can hit it really hard!” 😂😂😂😂 Classic double entendre, Mr K!
Make review of Epiphone NightHawk guitar
What does this sound like? The beginning of Mr.Crowley by Ozzie Osborne the bass line buildup...
Sounds like a $20 keyboard.
don't all guitar synths sound kinda like that
@@Roxanneredpanda probably true
But is that a good thing or not?
If it sounded like anything other than a $20 keyboard it would just be another effects pedal
Isn’t that the idea…haha
But I think it sounds far better! Really depends to on your actual tone vs clean and dirty and style of play. It does a lot for a small affordable pedal
how much it is
This or a boss sy-1?
How might it sound with a warmer more natural amp, mesa, Marshall, fender tube amp...to much artificial digital sounding. Very harsh and cold sounding.
Don't summon demons. Request angels. They're the good guys.
I mean Mooer Akoustika is on my board and I'm not opposed to it, but I have the Synth9. But I always have power issues with the EHX pedals so I'm looking. the new Boss one looks cool. I live in China so this is a pretty dern cheap pedal...but I think I gonna pass....Thank you the review Brett. Cheers!!!
How do you mean problems powering EHX? Mosy of them are basic 9v 100ma's
That last note sounded like the beginning of an old Judas priest song, love bites I think
Tasty playing but the pedal doesn't sound that great. Mostly sounds like a weirdly fuzzy octave-below pedal.
Yes, kinda like ehx nano pog
@@insertanynameyouwant5311 which, at least, does its job superbly and allows you fine control on each voices' volume.
Can You set the first sound without any octaver to something that sounds like Pat Metheny's solo lead midi trumpet synth sound?
any idea of the price range?
Luciano Armstrong if i had to guess somewhere between 50 and 200$ american dollars
7:07 Michael Jackson - Beat it!!!
That sounds terrible...and if you can’t make it sound good, I have no chance.
He's playing it like a guitar instead of keyboard lines.
This is okay for the price. Not much adjustability. I wish most of the synth voices were more interesting.
There's a great review of a Boss SY-1 called something like "Boss Sy1 - No blues licks".
You need to watch it. There's something truly pointless about a review where you take something that's designed to do X and spend the whole time doing Y with it.
"It's polyphonic!"
*Plays only single-note solos*
"It's got a slow attack knob."
*Doesn't play anything ambient or polyphonic that would show how well it works or not."
"It's got different modes".
*Plays exactly the same dad-blues licks as fast as he can over every mode, even the ones with filters that are meant to show off a sustained note or chord*
For $100 USD, it's not terrible, but it's the same sound 7 slightly different ways. The arpeggiator is the selling point for me, but still... I am going to pass on it.
that’s what I was thinking too, this pedal is carried by the arpeggiator
Wonder who they stole the firmware from this time
7:02 es el sonido de Michael Jackson!!
Your a good player man, guitar sounded better without it.
Things I hate about guitar synths is that they just sound like a guitar with manny effects, they still have this guitar articulation and hey don't sound the same like playing on the keys or other gear made for creating electronic music.
Thanks for the demo, but it sounds hideous
There's so much scope for tweakage in the pedal that you can sweeten it up a lot, especially by varying the mix and attack level. Also, a bit of reverb works wonders. I doubt, though, it will ever be described as a "polite" sounding pedal! :-)
Makes a lovely guitar sound bad. Sorry
This is the pedal that’s fun to play around with, but it will get you kicked out of the band if you try to use it!
😂 Sometimes that can come in handy...
Anything King uh? Goose Bye!
Boss sy 1 sound better
Don't like the sounds. All synth pedals but the Enzo sound video game like and not vangelis tangerine dream
like❤
Kiss of deaf pedal :) awful nice shirt indeed
#ClownPedal
Life is so short to spend time making funny noises.
No one plays synth like younplay play guitar may boo
Guitar playing is 1000% better without the arcade cr@p 👍
Sorry nope... this pedal will be $40 and under on reverb/ebay in few months.
That pedal is built in Wah, Chorus, Phaser and Tremolo 😂
No.
Lmao
