Underrated aspects of this game: the menus SOUNDS man. You heard them all the time and you could never grow tired of them. They had the perfect user experience. Sounds that clearly meant navigating through, accept and cancel. One of the best menu sounds i have ever heard in videogames
It’s weird how everything fit together perfectly,, I’ve never seen any other game do that other than winning eleven series + need for speed only the ones ps2 and GranTurismo 1 to 4 .

I recommend using a PS1/PS2 av cable, there's a plug for it on the PS3. Once you plug in that cord and unplug the HDMI, power up but hold down the power button 5 seconds and then wait and it will adjust to the old school resolution and start up. Then adjust TV ratio so its not stretched. And presto, looks like PS1.

Bought all of the Gran Turismos and just finished Gran Turismo 1. Now I'm playing Gran Turismo 2. I'm learning so much! I did not know what FF, FR, MR & 4WD was until I played and was researching things as I was playing like meaning to words and such.
Gran Turismo 2 isn't just any sequel. This is a true sequel to the first Gran Turismo with so many new tracks and includes over 600 cars to drive. Polyphony Digital did such a fantastic job making a realistic driving game that pushed the PS1 hardware to the limits. It doesn't get any better than this. 😄
Yes Suzuki Escudo! I remember just how I excited I was when I first tested it. I spent hours modding it until I got the exact parameters that squeezed a few more km/h. Such a great game.
Thank you for taking me back to the best days with my best game. I have finished the game more than 4 times and that track has 99 laps and took about 1:30 to play.😅
Nostalgia. Remember from when the first game came out, this really was an improvement. I actually managed to get 97% complete in this game. One thing I do feel disappointed is in the beta, the menu sound effects were like the original game and were more epic than in the final.

this game and number1 is the reason why i became so good at racing games in general. i always went for gold licences because they gave you a car at for getting gold!
The early Gran Turismo games had a much greater feeling of speed to them, less of a simulator more of an arcade racer, still realistic enough to make you think/worry about your speed at certain corners etc, but I loved the way the cars handled in GT2 was a real knack to driving the different FF, FR, MR and 4WD cars.

Me and my brother adored this game back in the day. We had tons of fun playing until, unfortunately, our copy got scratched and never worked again. We tried for years to find a copy back then but we were unsuccessful because of how rare it was. It probably so rare because it wasn't that popular in where I lived.
I’m not sure if anyone else has noticed the effort that went into the fonts for each make/model. I think it was a crucial detail for the game as it expressed each car’s uniqueness. Unfortunately this hasn’t been seen ever since :(
That's the main reason I absolutely love this game, it has pretty much every JDM car going. One's that do awful on track but they still added it. The used car sections hide so many awesome 80s/90s cars that get completely shadowed.
Games were so simple back than. Now they want everything super mega ultra extra realistic and with a plot. I miss the simple stuff of the 90's... I might buy a PS2 and all the GT games 1,2,3,4.

A lot of games in the 90's and early 2000's had these kinda sounds - Sonic, King of Fighters, Wave Race, you name it. Miss it a lot too.

I played this for months back in the day......yet barely remember much of it other than the licenses you needed.
Plus rember there was an event race event where u could get crazy amount of cash and I was replaying it like 100 times and got so much cash :)
