Theres nothing American about the 'American Doughnuts', the name comes from the original owners buying the recipe off a German man in 1950s, but it wasnt the right time to sell 'German' anything so they hopped on the trendy post war americana name, even though youd only find this style of doughnuts in central europe originally
I love that you (and the wanderers!) use the old fashioned Aussie/English spelling of doughnut!! These days it seems to be replaced in most places by the Americanised version “donut”, which I find a little lazy- they are after all made of dough! ❤

The Adelaide Central market is undergoing a $400 million redevelopment. When you visited two months ago they had already closed sections of it including the market arcade and international food court. I have visited both and the Queen Victoria is larger in terms of footprint and has a section setup as a flea market with vendors selling clothes, souvenirs and other random items. Hi and welcome back to Australia. Excited to see more content. Just to add to the many suggestions….. the coastline heading north at this time of year is in Whale migration mode. One of the best locations to view them from land for FREE is Port Stephens NSW. As with anything to do with nature some days are better than others. With 40,000 whales streaming past, the busiest time is over the next month or so. Would love to show you the best vantage spots. The area also has the biggest coastal sand dunes in the southern hemisphere. Also free to walk on if your up for a trek 😅 pm me if you’re up for a free day. Happy to show you around

Tia, I hope that know that the entire male population of Australia is in love with you, sad that your with a great guy already - he shows that he loves you as much as much as rest rest of us.
Just thinking about the Blueberry. Great car, but do promise you'll get a proper mechanic check-out and advisory before you leave North Queensland? Some of the attractions are on rough roads and you wouldn't want to have to sell her in a damaged condition. They say you can do the Top End without an SUV, but show your itinerary to somebody who knows, for our peace of mind. You're experienced travellers, I'm sure you've encountered such challenges before.
Cooking roo is like cooking venison, because it's so lean. Seared in a very hot pan is often preferred, and cooked rare. You'll get away with medium rare if you have a descent cut, I used to even make roo kebabs. It can taste gamey, however I've had pieces that tasted like the best beef steak ever, and you could cut it with a butter knife. Other pieces turn to rubber. I think the problem is you can't choose the age and sex of the animal, or what cut, so it's a lottery.
So glad you decided to head inland....it will give you another dimension of Australia's diversity....one which few travellers get to enjoy as they tend to stick to the coast and the more touristy destinations....Hopefully there's enough snow to have a slide or 2....but it is early in the season. Watch out for those Canberra mornings....bbbrrrr...

It's a little warm this week so snow not much falling probally some at night usually in winter we get a warmer weak then a it changes to a south wind comes from Antarctica which brings much colder conditions ...once we got stuck in a blizzard on top of Mt Kosciuszko it allnight 8 hour to do 160klms across from one side to the other .thanks to the road grader that cleared a path for us...
Love watching your videos. Can’t help thinking though that the journey the rest of the way around Australia is going to be rushed. You travelled from Perth to Melbourne at such a leisurely pace, seeing lots on the way I hope you are not too travel weary to fully appreciate across the top.
This made me nostalgic, I used to live across the road from Queen Victoria Market when I was in my 20s, a crazy share house. It was nice to see it again through fresh eyes.
Lovely to see you at Vic Market. A great market that we Melbournians love. The part you may have missed was the Delicatessen area. Great that you tried the Bourek, mussels and the doughnuts. LoL. Safe journeying!
It's great that you do your own car maintenance, a very underrated skill set. I laughed about Tia's comments on the car washes in other videos... my husband and I have spent many hours over the years in a car wash. It becomes a "thing".
There is another sport Australian's and New Zealanders are very passionate about, Rugby league..it's the game I grew up living and breathing, and the reason my dad and I would travel to Sydney every year .it's known as the toughest sport on the planet to many and it's called the nrl 😉 knew you would miss blueberry ....get ready for Sydney traffic 🤯❤️👋🇳🇿NZ
The reveal of Blueberry in the garage reminded me of the scene in the James Bond film Skyfall when Bond & M switch vehicles and the iconic old school Aston Martin DB5 is revealed. That blue Mazda was deserving of some dramatic music!! 🚙
I believe those hot jam doughnuts are the originals (as in, no-one anywhere had done hot, jam-filled doughnuts before). I haven’t had one from the Vic Market in years, but I think of them from time to time and keep planning on getting some when I’m in the city. They are amazing! If you’re visiting the market, do yourself a favour and get some!
Melbourne is famous for its coffee. One of my Chinese students worked as a Barista in Melbourne, in an Australian "Travel & Work Scheme" for foreigners. She worked hard but also got so see a lot of Australia and learn Australian English. Bonza!
Thanks for another bright and interesting vlog. Never been able to visit Queen Vic markets, so colourful and varied. Safe travels for those long hours on the road.😃
Your friend Simon lives in the town I grew up! I saw the sign for Monbulk and had to comment!! So neat that you visited such a tiny unknown town in the Dandenong Ranges 🤩
Thought that home looked familiar, I know that street well in the Dandenong Ranges, it’s my hometown. Love Canberra. We noticed from our recent annual trip that many of the tourist attractions are being renovated or even closed for renovations. Having said that it’s still well worth a visit. Enjoy!
I noticed when u arrived at the alpine region, there was a glimpse of what looked like Lake Jindabyne.! Interesting fact, the original town of Jindabyne is actually at the bottom of the lake.!
Hey guys, enjoying your videos , thanks for sharing with us all. Being born and breed in Melbourne, I especially want to commend you on your Melbourne videos. You show the real Melbourne and not the typical travel dribble you see on other videos. Watching this video, I was so hoping you noticed the donuts because they are the best thing about the market. I live in rural Queensland now but have traveled back home with those donuts on my mind. Visiting family and friends was just a bonus…lol. Enjoy the rest of your journey and hope to see you both return someday with all new places to explore in this beautiful country.
Kangaroo meat is extremely low fat, super lean - so it is really really easy to overcook it and dry it out. Burgers or kangaroo tail stew are probably best for beginners.
Welcome back to OZ great to see you both and blueberry again , you made me envy you both with the mussel pot YUM!! Did you do a video of our high country with the snow ? Looking forward to more of your videos ❤🇦🇺🐨🐨🇦🇺
Please put Sydney fish markets on your list for Sydney as well as Paddington markets (NOT to be confused with Paddy’s markets which is absolute crap!!) ❤ Also you can go to an AFL game in Sydney.
I found your channel looking for nullarbor vids. Now I see you in Monbulk just up the road from me. Enjoying the content alotguys keep up the great work. Subscribed 😊
My favorite line ever, “you don’t want 5 doughnuts?!” ❤ I’m currently in Melbourne for a week and have to try those doughnuts and the mussel pot! Thanks for the videos!
Nice vlog you guys . AFL is played Australia wide so no excuse , you can always catch a game on tv if the crowds are too much . I've never seen snow but on my bucket list . Happy travels :-)
I'm sure you have done more research than is shown in this video, but make sure that you really know what your plan is when you travel around the top part of Australia. Usually people travel by 4WD (SUV) up there, as opposed to a sedan, and it is wildly more...wild...than the places you have travelled before in AU. The nullarbor was remote, but largely just a long road. Northern Queensland, and the Northern Territory are legitimately jungle and bushland that you do not want to get into trouble in. And I'm sure that you know this, but crocodiles in the north are a real thing, not just a spooky story for tourists. If you visit any waterholes/rivers be aware that people die from crocodile attacks, and that they are an actual danger. Other than that, good luck!
We will definitely be giving Blueberry a once over... and then a twice over, before we take on the top of Australia. And we'll certainly stay away from water that we're not completely certain is croc free 😅
I just came back from Sydney (Vivid light festival, combined with a business trip), next month I’ll be in Melbourne for again a business and holidays combo. Definitely gonna go Victoria market! Great video!
I can’t believe you passed through Glen Waverley. I used to live there about 2ish months ago. Also I nearly woke up my roommate yelling Dandenong Ranges when you mentioned the mountains you were near.
Hey guys, glad you got to experience Melbourne and the Vic Market. AFL matches are best experienced at the MCG (imo - biggest audience to hear and feel the crowd), but you'll have more opportunities in other locations. It looks like you passed through Ringwood - my old stomping ground - on the train. Canberra is a weird place, but I enjoyed my time there - 2 years. I hope you enjoy/ed it and weren't too cold there - it gets pretty nippy around this time of year - I think. It's been a while. I'm in NT now, where the locals shiver if the temp gets below 20 degrees C ! Safe travels :)
G'day again! Here I am, 4 months behind your vlogs and I haven't even scratched the surface yet. Re this "largest in the Southern Hemisphere" thing. For starters, it's almost always WRONG; I'm sure the people claiming such-and-such is the L-I-T-S-H don't really know what comprises the Southern Hemisphere. I couldn't find a figure for Adelaide but Melbourne's Queen Vic Markets cover 7 hectares; meanwhile, Sydney's markets, Flemington Markets, cover 42 hectares. 'Nuff said. I'm glad you were happy to be reunited with Blueberry, because I also have a Mazda 3 in the same colour. It wasn't great when I bought it but it is now. Best car I've ever owned! I hope Blueberry continues to perform well for you on your wanderings!
G'day! Indeed. We have found that every time we repeat one of these claims in our videos, it is disputed in the comments. Humanity really has a tendency to get fired up over size-related records haha. Looking at population density, the largest open-air market in the southern hemisphere is probably somewhere in Africa or South America. And it's probably not a tourist attraction, which is why we've never heard of it. Either way, Flemington Markets sound really cool! Next time we're in Sydney, definitely checking them out 😊
I am using my daughter's account. I live in Sydney and have been following your exploits. Three months ago you posted a video about how expensive Australia is. Five days ago I landed in New York for my first trip to the US. I have found that everything here is about four times more expensive or more than Australia. I would think that a US citizen in Australia should be quite happy with the prices. I hope what I am experiencing here is for NY only. Also, I am glad that it looks as though you are travelling the Canberra. Make sure you see one of the three (I think) original copies of the Magna Carta which about 700 years ago set out the democratic system for most of the countries in the World.
Oh, so you're coming back to Perth via the north west of WA? If so, you should absolutely stop off in Exmouth and Coral Bay. Exmouth was an ex US military base which may interest you guys, but better still is the amazing gorges and canyons as well as the Ningaloo Reef and of course swimming with the whale sharks. Lots of places to stay there as well.
Vic Market. It has good bits, but it's lots and lots of cheap stuff and souvenirs. Honestly more fun at the various Sunday markets. Camberwell, South Melbourne Markets. Plenty of others.
Hi guys. Really enjoying your travel experiences, and listening to comments on subjects we all take for granted as a resident Melbournian! An interesting fact about your Victorian Market experience. If you were unaware, that market was built over Melbournes first cemetary, dating back to the discovery of Melbourne by the British explorer, Batman, famous for the fair city of Melbourne, that was built on the backs of British convicts! There is another cemetary site nearby, that is known as "The Flagstaff Gardens" today. It is opposite the Victoria Market, in William St Melbourne. A little bit of useless information to contemplate!
A lot of skeletons are still under the asphalt of the carpark. When Melbourne Council promoted a new high-rise building, planned and financed by the very "Feng Shui" conscious Chinese developers in a radio interview, the moderator pointed to this fact. One could clearly hear the embarrassed tone in the voice of the Lord Mayor, stating very sedate: "I wish ... YOU would NOT (teeth grinding) have mentioned THAT ... (ROTTEN MEDIA. Can't keep their trap shut ...)".
There is another "crazy" cemetery in the Inner West. Williamstown, the New Cemetery. When they cleared and shifted the graves from the Old one at Point Gellibrand, the records showed about 400 burials. However, the operation in the late 19th century (I think it was in 1870 ...) brought over 800 remains to the surface. Explanation: Whenever a crime was committed in Melbourne, the order was given to "take it to Gellibrand ..." All the unidentified "extras" are now placed in a marked mass grave near the Eastern boundary of that location.
Don't miss the Big Trout in Adaminaby while you are in the Southern Highlands. Nor of course the Big Merino in Goulburn after you pass through Canberra.
For me, Kangaroo is best served as a steak medium/medium rare. Otherwise like a beef steak it becomes too chewy. It's great in a burger also! You can get marinated steaks, thin steaks of it etc. It's a great tasting meat. For the AFL game that's totally justified, the crowds there can get pretty rowdy too. I'd say go to one of the NSW or QLD state team games at either the Gabba (Brisbane) or SCG (Sydney), but it's not going to be the same atmosphere you'd get at a big Melbourne home team game at the MCG. Would still be cool to see the reactions to the sport, most people have trouble following it for the first time since the rules are so different that it seems there are almost no rules. The NSW and QLD states are more rugby states, but that's not a sport I follow so I wouldn't know what watching a game is like. AFL is really quite unique, do try giving it another go but as someone with anxiety myself dont beat yourself up too much if you can't muster the courage to do it. Peace guys.

Yep, the Queen Vic market is meant to be the largest OPEN AIR market and Adelaide the largest undercover.
I think Queen Vic Market is also undergoing a $250m redevelopment.
The Adelaide central market itself is not being touched by the development. Only the market arcade.
Parolee on Blacktown is the largest covered market

Canberra is cold as winter is here go to the arboretum and see the bonsai i have been here 75 years travelled a lot home is home but theres an out door life here enjoy you wonderful aspect of australia dont leave yet as theres so much natural beauty to see
Pretty sure every Wednesday night I think the vic markets transform into a cool street food night market
I did the walk up Mount Kosciusko in February and saw a bit of snow still. Gorgeous day walk and not too difficult.
Eli from Russia just posted her walk doing the same thing you did. Little bit of snow at the top month later than you. She did it 3hrs.
Definitely!
You didn't go to the cheese and bread and deli end. That's the best.🇦🇺
I enjoy watching your Videos a lot.You Guys are such a Blessing on TH-cam
Loved the market. Thanks for taking us along.
I can't eat my brekky until i watch you guys. This is my saturday routine now.
Great video guys, good to see you were in my neighbourhood “The Dandenongs” no Bratwurst at Vic market though it’s a staple 😂
welcome home guys .
almost ALL our fruit veg and meat (all food) is grown in australia.
Whilst you are travelling in the Victorian countryside you will find an AFL football game in just about every town on Saturdays. No crowds.
Great to see you both back in Aus! Enjoy.
Welcome back to Australia xx
I remember getting those hot jam donuts as a child with my grandmother, lovely reminder for me to go back and try it again!
The only way to eat mussels is with nature’s spoon! And getting the sauce all over your fingers 😊 Nice vid ✌🏼
Yes we did 😊
Please put Sydney fish markets on your list for Sydney as well as Paddington markets (NOT to be confused with Paddy’s markets which is absolute crap!!) ❤ Also you can go to an AFL game in Sydney.
You guys need to start selling merch , like Blueberry on a t shirt or Tia for scale
Merch is a tough nut to crack but one day, hopefully, there’s going to be a Tia for scale shirt 😅
Nice vlog you guys . AFL is played Australia wide so no excuse , you can always catch a game on tv if the crowds are too much . I've never seen snow but on my bucket list . Happy travels :-)
They are the best doughnuts ever, so glad you got to taste them :) Love Melbourne town x
You guys are awesome when in Canberra I hope you get a chance to visit the The Australian War Memorial.
Sitting happily watching the next episode then all of a sudden up pops the almost 90 year old family fishmongers stall of friends
Welcome back guys! 😍 Roo bolognese is amazing 👌🏼 or if you do a steak, don't overcook it 😅 yay for Blueberry!! 😍😍
Nicely filmed guys. Enjoying some creative shots, and thanks for showcasing my home city of Melb and Victoria. Great job.
You nailed Canberra in your description of the place. Weird but in enjoyable.
Next time we're in Sydney, definitely checking them out 😊
@@OnePackWanderers I hope you won't be disappointed; the 42 hectares may include the huge carpark! Happy travels!
New York, especially the city, is *very* expensive.
Great choice going inland! The coast gets lots of the glory but the inner parts of Australia (or 'the bush ') is so beautiful 😍
Your photography is once again stunning :D Noooo don't leave Melbourne, you haven't been to the footy at the G yet.
South Melbourne market is amazing too!
And the Count Strzelecki Memorial in Jindabyne, Snowy Mountains, NSW. He will show you the direction to go on your trip ...
Cant wait for the next one. Enjoy the alps
Peace guys.
ayyy haha you guys caught the belgrave train line, i live right along that haha
