    One of the biggest upgrades besides a really good SSD From WD or Samsung to keep an older craigslist laptop like this going for a few more years.

    Which other old laptops could support 32 gigz of ram?u could do a series on that,maybe call it,'the sleeper laptops,'or something like that

    Thanks, I always check 'how to upgrade' videos before buying computer systems. I'm currently pondering an AMZN refurb for about $300.

    What are the components next to the hard disk? My laptop feels like something is swelling there (I can't open the laptop components)

    I recently did an SSD upgrade for my Lenovo L 560 and the HDD in the caddy is super slow. File transfer rate is between 0 - 3 MB/s. Could this be a fault in HDD? However I haven't tried any other HDDs in the caddy.

    I just fiddled with my laptop for an hour. I scratched the skin on my fingers, scratched a lot of the laptop plastic, bent the lid, scratched the ruler and the cat because I didn't notice the bolt under the sticker with some serial number or something. Then when I finally took the lid off, it turned out I didn't have a hex screwdriver to remove the old HDD and transplant the extra ssd from my computer

    How hard does one have to pry to get the back off??? Plus there are three short screws along battery mount that look to need taken out also. Mine isn't popping off like yours. Screws are out but not gotten back to pop off like yours. Help!

    • @GarageMaxedOut
      @GarageMaxedOut  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’d classify it as “finger power” to get it off, you should not need to pull with significant force

    I did exactly as you're doing, but the base cover doesn't come off. Something is holding it place in the middle of the laptop. Not sure what though. Any ideas?

    • @GarageMaxedOut
      @GarageMaxedOut  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      When you say middle, you you mean the center, or the middle of one of the edges? There should be no hidden screws in the center with this model

      Even if it wasn't soldered-in, compatibility with a newer CPU is unlikely.

      No. Just put it in and turn on the power. Then log in with your usual username and password.

      @@mrscary113 Naa, ...only if you cloned the new SSD from the old drive. Definitely NOT plug-n-play

    Can I Upgrade to m.2 nvme SSD?

    • @GarageMaxedOut
      @GarageMaxedOut  26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You have two options. You can use the caddy from a T470P to replace your 2.5" SATA drive with an M.2- amzn.to/4csQPAN or you can use a SATA M.2 (not NVMe) in the WWAN slot. I have a video on using SATA M.2s on my channel you can check out

    That's really expensive memory. There is certainly many other choices under $300 for ddr3 memory.

    16 gb is overkill. 32gb is waste. But the work is really nice.

      With windows 10 installed , a 32G memory reserve is verry helpfull.
      My T560 has 16G on a i7 CPU , Lexar 512 SDD , and with LightRoom it rather slow to open to a library of (+-) 5000 images .
      I'm sure the extra 16 would do a better job , but as previouslly said "DDR3L kits are so expensive now" that i'm waiting for a deal ...
