Discovered your channel and I have to say: You are a gem man! Knew a sub 5 who tried to flirt with a HR intern during happy hours, she filed a complaint and the guy was fired 2 weeks later, it was over for him 😂😂 5 years in the company down the drain…
Nailed it! The only thing that I will add is that when things are going good at work, just make an effort to really enjoy it and be thankful. Things could be GREAT. Then, there is a new boss and just a few new people and nine months later it's a nightmare 🙃
my curry parents dont understand this keep asking me to go out and make friends what they dont know is i still find myself alone even when i am surrounded with ppl its so brutal just to go out and still find yourself ignored most of the time by normies morever they make fun of you
I have a blue collar background but for the last couple years I’ve been working in a white collar field (got a job I didn’t expect to get, and now am experienced at it), I was surprised at how superficial the “office” environment is in America. People will hang out as a group and not even like a single other person there. “Happy hours” at a blue collar job are just grabbing some beers with your work buddies after shift or on a night you have off. Small stuff like having a little too much to drink, or causing a bit of a ruckus becomes just an endearing thing you guys joke about for a while, while in this office environment everyone will be cheering you on and then gossip about how you’re an alcoholic or something when you aren’t there lol
In my office usually about 10 of the 300 employees show up to the weekly afterwork drinks, and all dudes including myself, embarassingly enough. All girls vanish at 5pm cuz they have evening plans with chads.
Happy hours are a feminized thing. It shouldn't be about playing board games, drinking or talking. It should be a group of men doing an activity they enjoy in peace.
You hit the nail on the head! Waste of money! I’d rather go home after work and have an ice cold beer that would probably only cost me 10 to 30 bucks for a 12 pack depending on the beer and lasts a week.
At mine all they talk about is lame arse trips and streaming shows or its managers talking about houses and kids which none of their workers can afford.
Funny how these mandatory social clubs are never scheduled during the actual work shift, on company time. They expect you to give more of your time to them without pay. They don't care if you waste your life for them because it will buy the boss' summer vacation
Happens in the trades too. When i was working in the field, after work, we would go with the company vehicle to a small store for drinks. So i sweat my balls off welding in a leather jacket all day and instead of going back to my room, take a shower and unwind a bit, i get to sit in some shack for the next 2/4 hours and listen to the fitters talk about work, politics or how somebody got rich through inheritance or kissing up to some boss/politician. Pretty much was a daily occurrence. Some things don't seem to change no matter the occupation.
At my current place of work, they've made it a requirement for employees to participate in at least three corporate social events to obtain a "meet expectations" on our annual review.
The fact that u guys are “lightly flirting” still means u guys are flirting - even if u guys don’t intent to be serious. Thats why i think its best just to be cordial 🤷♂️

I hated going to happy hours for two reasons.
1. I have Asperger’s.
2. I hate alcohol and junk food.

Really good point! It’s all a part of keeping you spending more time with the company.
It definitely depends on the job

I feel like Happy Hours are really made or destroyed depending on the kind of co-workers you have.
