    Maybe this opens the door for horizon hobby to take a crack at the growing 2WD drift scene. Between arrma, losi, and Team Associated I'm sure they could cover the gamut of budget RTRs to serious competition level cars that challenge Yokomo and the bespoke brands.

      I would love for associated to take the plunge personally. They offer such a vast array of parts and tuning to all their vehicles. I was the only person originally in our NPRC group that ran an associated platform 3 seasons before associated dropped the offical kits. I’ve always been an AE fanboy and would be back in a heartbeat if they did.

      They would need to do a spinoff like they did with element for the crawlers.... They don't want to mess up the heritage in racing they have fostered under the associated banner

    easy tip to remedy self-loosening wheelnuts: buy some fitting locknuts or (to not sacrifice the clean look from the stock wheels) you should look out for some fitting spring washers to be screwed between the wheels and nuts. either of those methods should provide you with the safety to run ur fun without checking the wheelnuts ever so frequently.
    If someone tries the washer method, please let us know, whether the caps still fit or not. Thank you.
    great review with interesting details. looking forward to the upcoming series.

    "Have a home for years" that's quite an endorsement from Scale Science.

    • @ScaleScience
      @ScaleScience  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Figured MST has been in the rtr scene for well over 7 years and straight monopolized it. I’ll give it a home for the simple fact that these rtr creators need that competition to push it to the next level!

      @@ScaleScience Any plans to stock the Aplastic bodies? When I lived out in Bennett Colo. I had a 1969 Road Runner. They make a 1970 version and the wheel base is geared to drift cars. Aplastic or A Plastics also has an early 60 s Impala, don't know what else is in their product line but they have my attention.

    A better looking more scale body, I would drop my $400 right now to get into drifting. But I'll wait until it looks better. Or aftermarket bodies come out.

    • @Luke-en2tk
      @Luke-en2tk ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TandemRCrob they are an odd company as they left the onroad scene when they had a TC car which only really needed small changes to be bought up to date to be competitive for racing. By doing so they are also missing out on the FWD racing scene which is booming right now. But they thought drag racing was going to have a long shelf life 🤷

    Awesome video. I really want to get into drifting but being in the Uk, redcat is hard to get hold of. What would you recommend a rtr something like the mst 2.5 or would you recommend a kit. Many thanks

    • @ScaleScience
      @ScaleScience  ปีที่แล้ว

      Scott, if you have rc experience I’d say get a kit! We could probably ship to you if need be! Otherwise mst or Yokomo will be most popular options

    • @scottjackson1812
      @scottjackson1812 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Scale Science Brilliant thanks, is the redcat a good option say the kit. Postage and tax is really expensive to the Uk.

    • @ScaleScience
      @ScaleScience  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@scottjackson1812 it’s a great option but with nobody else around you driving one, could make tuning it and sourcing parts for it difficult!

      @scottjackson1812 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Scale Science Awesome thanks for your advice. Yeah unfortunately there isn't really any online and we don't have many local hobby shops that stock redcat which is unfortunate. So the mst or sakura would be better options

  • @gartsworld-RC
    @gartsworld-RC ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I think best way is 3racing sakura d5 to start with. It's a kit car and you can put your own electronics on it so you don't buy things you don't really want. Also by building it self you learn about the car😉👌🏻

    • @ShaneMikula
      @ShaneMikula ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Redcat RDS kit will be coming soon.

    • @ScaleScience
      @ScaleScience  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You’d be surprised how many people don’t have the know how, knowledge or tools to build an rc car. So many directions you can go, people tend to get kind of lost in the options too. I do agree building a car yoursef will teach you about it, but at least you can ensure your RTR was assembled correctly (hopefully) and be able to have fun with it as quick as you can unbox it! Different then the d5, you won’t need to upgrade shocks, make an esc plate for rear mount, etc. plus the biggest fright for all new people, painting and cutting out an rc body.

    • @Luke-en2tk
      @Luke-en2tk ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ScaleScience both are essential to the hobby IMHO but we definitely don't have enough kits on the market in general, drifting does a decent job in the kit area but maybe lacking in the RTR area

  • @robertshelton2605
    @robertshelton2605 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm thinking about getting into drifting. The car specs sound really good. But the stock body is awful. Redcat makes so many rtr bodies that look awesome. But this????

    • @ScaleScience
      @ScaleScience  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It weirdly grows on you or can. It looked terrible at first and it still doesn’t look incredible but some simple touches really bring it to life. Any licensed drift body will also work. Most people change their first rtr body within the first year. Redcat is just encouraging those of you who hate the body to do the same. I for one love Z’s and this has enough of a classic Z tail with modernized lines and almost a 350z front end that I actually like it lol. But in grey, didn’t love the orange. I’m eager to paint one and have something different
