Cinema 4D was used to take the painted backgrounds into 3D. But projection mapping is something most 3D software's will be able to do so I don't want to keep this video software focused.
@YTube Glitch (i stink at explaining) Yes. its not that hard its just time consumming, in blender you just have to know how to UV unwrap. and have pretty decent drawing skills xD. uv-unwrap the object on a Plan add Geometry using a Subsurface - use "proportional" edit (which lets you Move multiple vertices easily). Knife Tool (K Quick key) to do more precise edits, incase you need some detail for some weird reason. and incase if you have a bad PC and is starting to lag Press F3 and find "Limit Dissolve" this should help you clean up the topology relly fast but don't forget to select all (A Quick key to select all) before doing "limit Dissolve" otherwise it won't work xD. then the rest is just editing drawing + Mesh to get Results theres a example: let me find you the dud. @@pikachufan25 can you not apply the camera mapping to a group of geometries? Does it really need to start from a plane? I would definitely think that if you have built a decent representation of the drawn environment in 3d, you should be able to texture it easily with a uv tag (or however blender works) set to use camera mapping as its uv projection type. I often build my geometry before even starting to paint. Then I only need to fine tune it to fit the final painting rather then try to rebuild it in the end.

Sir make a video on how to shade character, use any software like clipstudio, blender 2d animation, photoshop but we need tutorials of which color to choose for shading skin, clothes, depend on environment, sunny day, night day. Blue tone.
Thanks for all the tutorials! I'm a big fan. Really need support to get a Graphics tablet, I'm a Nigerian and I can send some of my animations if requested for. I use After effect
Its being projected by the camera that is looking at the geometry from the angle that best represents that of the image. The stretching comes from a 2d image being projected onto a 3d surface. Just like when you project a film from a normal film projector onto something that isn't flat. Im looking through another camera to see the stretching happening. You want to leave the projection camera untouched.
@@OlofStorm Wow I didn't know Cinema 4D did this (I use Blender). Thanks for your help! (Then again I don't know if Blender does this either, I'll have to check)

think I would be able to combine this with all these ghibli tutorials out there? like the grass? new to making enviros and I love the ghibli stuff people have been sharing as predictable as it is. I'm also gonna be trying to make ghibli grass with geometry nodes, hopefully ill end up using less resources. and I hope this camera projection stuff I can use to reduce even further beyond.
As someone who's tried the Blender Ghibli methods (I assume the ones pioneered by Lightning Boy Studio), I can say it's REAL fun combining both their tutorials and Olof Storm's. The results have been spectacular.
Great video Olof! Is there an efficient way to project mutiple cameras while maintaining visual consistency in order to have, let's say, a 360 degree viewing angle? For longer, continuous shots with lots of character blocking moving errywhete around the scene.

Hey :) I know it's off topic to the video but, Is there a way or a plugin to drag n drop images into C4D. I'm working on a motion comic, which requires me to extensively use png images as planes with alphas. Instead of creating a plane, apply image as tex in luminance channel + alpha, then adjust the U & V percentage to match aspect ratio? I just feel like dragging and dropping images into C4D's view port, should automatically create a plane and apply it as transparent texture to it with right aspect ration. Just like after effects. (I can't use after effects for this as the animation needs to be a FBX for it to be interactive on the web). Thanks in advance!

An Olof Storm post... Life makes sense again
Exactly
Damn ! Your channel is Treasure for animators
These tutorials are incredible, but I’m actually really looking forward to the finished film!
I have been waiting for your tutorial ever since

in short Camera Mapping is like the Multi Plane Camera technique the Disney first pioneered in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
Well not really, as that is a 2.5d approach where each layer us a flat card. This here is full 3d space with 3dimentional objects.
