Thank you for taking the time to document your real world experience with a different gun and product application. My son saved his money and bought a F250 and I'm strongly leaning toward Raptor liner as opposed to the standard base/clear.
    Rock On.

Try 10 to 15 percent with 2.0 tip . You won't need as much pressure. Make sure gun is all open. It should be similar to the line x ultra finish.

Raptor recommend you reduce the first coat with a glove gun with your reduction up to 30% just to get coverage and make a tack coat . Less pressure and less reducer through a bigger tip and or raptors cheap gun

Y’all did an awesome job! I’m gettin ready to do this to my 97’ K2500 and would also like to do the Olive Drab.. Could you please tell me what brand Olive Drab Tint y’all use or where to get it?? Because Raptor brand tint costs the same as like 1/3 of what the whole liner kit costs!! Smh 🤦🏻‍♂️ lol. So, if you could please let me know I’d really appreciate it! Thanks!

To get a much more subtle, cooler look, use 2k acrylic with fast reducer - shoot a drop-coat first, let it flash for a half minute - that creates texture when you then spray over it normally - it gives a very light, subtle textured finish that looks mint when you clear-coat it. Especially in black, the finish just looks the bomb. I shoot it with a LVLP gun, so overspray & paint wastage are minimal, plus the compressor is unstressed. I do the same for olive-drab, except I mix the shade myself, meaning I can have any variation of olive from light to real dark. Real dark olive looks very cool too.
I like clearing it as the Raptor tends to get dirty very fast & can be a sod to clean etc etc.

      @@justinmalone8640 I do it 7 days a week for a living, plus I love textured finishes - they float my boat. :-) So I can't stfu from commenting. :-) Texture-Nerd,,, :-)
Hit the tank & fenders with a maroon scotch brite if they are undamaged, bang on an aerosol adhesion promoter after cleaning with panel-prep, I then like to use (oddly..) Halfords weld-through primer on everything small like bike parts - it's just lovely primer to work over.. If you can't get that, use any decent smooth primer/adhesion promoter/plastic primer (depending on what you are painting) you can lay your hands on. I then spray EVERYTHING I am gonna be texturing with a coat of good 2k acrylic black gloss or 2k acrylic red gloss - what colour is going on next decides which I use, but everything gets a solid gloss coat first - it makes the topcoat pop like mad.
Then hit it with the drop-coat in your finish colour, let that flash, then wet on wet it - followed by 2 coats of good acrylic clear. Bang - drop-dead gorgeous textured finish that people can't get their head around as it just pops so good in the light. :-) Darkest grey I'd be shooting a black base first, just so the colour is reeealy deep to the eye. Bedliner tends to look "cheap" IRL - it just does - this way doesn't, it just looks cool. Bedliner also gets dirty like a rocket - they forget to tell you that aspect - cleaning it is then a PITA generally. My way ain't/doesn't. Plus, my way, I can mix any colour you can imagine - and some you can't - which adds a whole 'nother layer of possibilities.

@@justinmalone8640 Bang up the pressure on the gun is one key - the "Trend" lately is for super-low pressures, even with the LVLP guns - that's great for normal paintjobs, but real bad if you are going for a modern textured finish - you want that gauge just veering into the red, not the green - and then just have fun with it. I worked a landrover defender today - came in so boring I fell asleep sanding it. Yawn-Mobile. Dull.
Sprayed out just the bonnet for the owner to come see/say yes/no - jet black textured over jet black base. Guy couldn't get his head around how cool the finish looked - even my wife, who has zero interest in cars commented that "that finish looks amazing... can you do my car that way?" :-) It's about having some fun with paint-possibilities. No point doing just the usual Yawn everyone does - be a bit different.

a bigger tip is going to flow better, a 5/64 drill bit in that tip would provide a bit more texture, otherwise useing the Raptor liner gun will definately give you more texture (play with pressure with this gun for pretty wide results)
