I've been on the Clingan train for over a year but never knew we had a conductor leading the way. Tyler Jones encapsulates all my thoughts on why Clingan is a perfect fit for the Atlanta Hawks and why he is so incredibly unique.
I’m not gonna lie, as someone who has already mentally prepared to not draft Sarr, I’m really starting to warm up to Clingan. Sure, he doesn’t have superstar upside, but he’s a defensive beast, he’s better offensively than he’s given credit for, and his fit next to Trae is phenomenal in theory.
That is kind of the best case scenario. Atlanta gets this extra pick for whoever wants ZR or Sarr and end up with Clingan but there is that small slimmer of doubt of that someone would trade with Houston for Clingan.
@@ajevans1422 agreed. I’m all for the idea of trading back to pick Clingan while getting additional assets. Unfortunately, based on reports, it seems like the Spurs seemed like or primary trade partner and didn’t like the Hawks asking price (the 4th pick + either the 8th pick or our own 2025 first rounder). I hope that changes come Wednesday, but if not, the Hawks should select whoever they like the most and if that’s Clingan, I’m all for it.
I feel we take Clingan. I think Sarr will be a high foul volume project. And I can't get the bad taste of feeling Zaccharie is gonna be another Marvin Williams if we take him. High picks used on swing players like Hunter have not bode well for us. I can't understand why we've been so stubborn at trading him when anything that plays a full season would atleast add consistency. Get us more defense, any big man eats well at Trae's table!
Saw clips of a game with Zac R. Running pg. He had a nice handle also a good feel for the game from the pg position. The main knock on Risacher was his handle and shot creation. He showed he was able to do both.
@@marcuscamp2829Rudy Gobert with better passing and post play. He may not be a generational superstar, but a lot of teams are reportedly trying to trade up to draft Clingan and there’s a good reason.
Donovan Clingan is the best center in this draft the best defensive player in the draft two-time national champions by the way he's 7 ft 3 in tall and 280 lb play is better than 80% of the centers in the league Atlanta Hawks better take him the Atlanta Hawks were having 150 and 160 points scored on them .. better get him

Hawks make fans Happy and draft SARR. He will put fans in the stands! If you draft anyone else expect fans to be very upset!
I really hope we don’t take Zaccharie Risacher, who knows he might turn out to be great but I would like the Hawks to take Clingan or Ron Holland (somehow both would be amazing) or sure Sarr why not. Just personally prefer those players.
@@LockedOnHawks respectfully, his agility rated higher than Clingan and Sarr at the combine. So it is “close”, but neither of them can come close to what Edey can do offensively. With his post game and Trae as the PG, he could average 15-20 day one. Clingan’s upside comp would be Zubac, Sarr’s upside comp is Gobert. Edey also did better in shooting drills. I thought Clingan before too, until I really looked at Edey’s game.
FWIW - Sarr is nothing like Gobert. And Edey did test well but there’s a lot more to NBA defense than that. He’s just not close to the defensive prospect that the other two are.
@@LockedOnHawks Sarr can’t score, but great weak side help on defense [yeah]. Sounds like DPOY that got exposed in the playoffs. All his points are from fast breaks, a few put backs, or lobs. So my point again, he’s good enough defensively, which in the pro game depends more on system, scheme and coaching. Remember Hunter was suppose to be a defensive stopper, how is that going. The Hawks basically have only one consistent scorer in Trae, the others including DJ at times are very inconsistent. DJ can score, but not at the consistent volume you need as your #2. So the point is, Edey gives you exponentially more offensively without losing much defensively.
We fundamentally disagree on Edey’s defense, which is fine. But Sarr just doesn’t play like Gobert at all on either end of the floor. Sarr operates on the perimeter on offense. And he’s not a pure drop big like Rudy. Clingan is much more like Gobert stylistically.

100% agree with Tyler. Cling Kong is my pick. Since Sarr is a no go. Please don’t pick another underperforming wing.
I’m fine with any of the top 3 but I’ve been in Cling Kong army for awhile now
Clingan is the safe pick. At worst a good back up.

Alright. Tyler has me to the point where I'd now be ok with either Sarr, Risacher, or Clingan (I still want Sarr, tho)
I hope we get lucky and trade down to 4 and 8 with the spurs, take Clingan and Knecht plus get a pick back. That would be a win for me.
FWIW i don’t think they’ll get offered 4 and 8, much less another pick beyond that
Its been reported that Houston has a trade in place for the 3rd pick if Clingan is still on the board.
Ok, I give up. I will now be happy with Clingan, Risacher or Sarr.
If this draft class is so bad why would anyone give up assets to move up to # one
Pick the Dino Sarr plus trae = T-rex (Trae and Alex) 😅
Zach Edey dominated Clingan. Why would clingan get drafted before Edey? Make that make sense
Sounds like a Travis Slenk banana in the tail pipe
Lively not being able to post up lost them that final series. If Clingan post up that ruins a lot of teams rim protection gambits
In the comments section you can really tell there are a lot of flat out crazy people in this world
The Hawks better not pick Clingan unless they trade back. They need to shoot for the stars instead of getting a low ceiling guy. 😢
clingan at 1 would be a joke😂😂

It reminds me of Hasheem Thabeet in a way. Dominant ATM because he's bigger than everyone else but not athletic enough for the next level.
