    A strong front office/GM would absolutely not allow the wizards to get their man Sarr without making them make a deal even if we don't want Sarr. At least have and leak trade discussions with teams interested in Sarr. No one should dictate what we do outside of the organization and this is definitely the appearance now which is frustrating.

    Huge mistake if they don’t say “F it” and draft Sarr anyway. Then, auction him off to the highest bidder because the bids will come. Vecenie had it right. “Draft day the thing.” Draft Sarr. Trade him and move down. If you move to two, try to trade that pick or know the guy to pick that will get more offers. Trade down. You don’t take Clingan before #3 in this draft, and even that feels high.
    Won’t surprise me if Tony Ressler is a big ‘fraidy cat and just settles on Clingan at #1 in a move that would make Billy Knight jealous and Shelden Williams blush.
    You either draft Sarr or trade the pick. Period. Otherwise, this franchise and its front office is a feckless bunch.

      I agree with this idea. I don’t think they’ll get a lot but I think they could at least net some 2nds or a lottery protected 1st on a trade down with the wizards or Houston. If they expect to get a haul then that’s where I disagree. I think those teams would be perfectly happy drafting the next guy up.

      Siakam imo woulda been a bad trade digging us deeper! He was way way overvalued being in a weak trade deadline situation. We did well to not buy-in like Indiana. He's later in his career and shows he's not a franchise clutch player, but because large part of a championship on his resume, is to be over-paid. Truth is... we can't take everything at "face value" . Siakam woulda resigned w/ Atlanta if it had happened. Just glad we're not in that situation. Atleast I hope our front office isn't so shallow and transparent that they blow our path winning at these critical cross-roads. I want a championship in my life-time! And ATL didn't even want to give him a chance bc he also didn't want to work out for the hawks. If Tre young got Atl to the conference finals then imagine what Luka would have done that year.

      I say draft him anyway just like the magic did with Paolo when he didn't work out for them. He's a kid, he could be missing out listening to his salty agent. Try it out for a year if he still just doesn't want to be here then that's when you trade him for other pieces. Like sac did with halliburton.
      What you don't do is pass on the best potential talent at number one. Now if you can somehow we get zac at 4 and clingen at 8 from the spurs then that could possibly be better than Sarr by himself.
      But I'm still taking Sarr bc if he falls anywhere else he would be considered the steal of the draft.

    Atlanta doesn’t play the rookies, in fact they tend to stunt their potential. Bey got the nod over Jalen and OO is stuck on the bench. AJG has his own issues but it still paints a terrible picture. Our reputation with rookies isn’t good.

      Jalen is about to get a 9-figure contract. Okongwu has played in the rotation literally his entire career and got an 8-figure AAV extension.

      I would disagree somewhat with that Marqice. I think we develop them before we throw them in the deep end of the pool to "sink or swim" which actually makes them better in the long run and to a degree makes them cheaper while easier to resign. It's not as sexy as getting someone on the ALL Rookie team I agree, but our low picks have panned out much better than higher picked by other teams in recent drafts. Which I believe is directly linked to taking our time with the young players.

      @@LockedOnHawks Jalen is about to get paid for sure but that’s avoiding my entire point. He sat for 2 years and somehow started the season behind Bey. If I’m an agent that’s a red flag.
      OO is also getting paid which could be a negative as well considering the fact that he’s still on the bench. In 4 years he’s been stuck on the bench behind a player who should’ve been gone because of contract and draft positioning. It doesn’t take much effort at all to paint a bad picture out of this.
      How does being a number one pick make the perception of a team different? Our track record on handling our rookies isn’t good.

      Yes I’ve talked about it but I think Jalen can (and probably will) play some 3. The Hawks do view him as a 4 primarily but he can flash over. Ideally if you do that, you’d want a 4 (or 5) who could shoot or you get into spacing issues.

Travis we "F'd" up on ourselves with ownership interference in his job and breaking the Warrior's dynasty blueprint which he was half way done executing which got us to the conference finals and maybe a championship if Trae would have been healthy to play. Winning a championship is timing as well as talent, effort, and a little luck. We wrecked our window with Travis by trading for Murray. He's a great player and love him since we got him, but it's thrown off our path to a championship team.

  • @jasonbrunson4797
    @jasonbrunson4797 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Hawks front office is a circus of too many chefs not enough cooks which is killing us. We messed up bad running off Travis Schlenk. We should take a page from his book though and draft Sarr regardless. Even if he won't play for us, we can trade him back after the pick... for I think, we need Clingan because he is solid inside at finishing around the rim along with defense, and wants to play at center if we're not keeping Sarr. Trade with whoever takes Clingan for Sarr or another descent NBA center and more, be it a real hustle player which we lack or capital. Maybe we pair Sarr with Hunter or Capela, maybe all the above, and get something great. Also don't trade our best player in Trae Young (future Hall-of-Famer). Nor should we trade Dejonte Murray! In the league he's the cheapest/ real-quality/ 2nd star / who has no ego, allowing Trae Young to still run our team! We need to trade Capela while he holds value and is desired by other teams. We've needed to trade Hunter before we even traded Collins. He just doesn't care and isn't reliable to play. Last preseason when asked what he worked on, he straight up literally said "nothing" *shrugged* and repeated "nothing". I mean what audacity to thumb your nose at the teams fans could you ask for?? I couldn't believe I'd not seen more "stink" in sports media about that then there was. Nothing mentioned that I'm aware of. If that doesn't smell of "not caring" with so much wasted potential then I don't know anything so disregard all I'm saying. "Melancholy" and "Laziness" are contagious like the saying "one bad apple ruins the bunch"! I could see us keeping or trading Bogey in the right situation while he's peaking in value though I'd love to keep him. Give us more of Big "O" and Johnson who are hungry along with Bufkin and Griffin larger roles. Not sure I'd keep Bey either. I'd just cut my losses because he's a gamble at best with his ACL which won't even be till the end of this coming season or likely misses all this coming season to return the next. We need to get grittier and hungrier and drop the satisfied/loser mentality. Depending how we draft I think we should go: PG. Trae/ SG. Murray/ SF. Johnson/ PF. Okongwu/ C. Sarr. If we do have to trade Sarr, like Luka due to political agendas, then I'd plug Clingan in for Sarr. Bogey, Bufkin, Griffin {predicting bounce-back season if given opportunity}, Gueye, and Krejci. Improved by adding the acquisitions of trading Capela and Hunter. I really hope our front office can prevent from panicking and fix the damage they've done by throwing nearly all our future assets away and running off Travis who made all the right moves to put us on a winning trajectory. It takes more than stubborn business execs who think they know everything to win a sports championship, got to love and actually know the game itself.😋

Real greats play and don't complain about soreness to get taken out and have an excuse. Sitting on the money once you get it kills some players motivation which the winnners love playing is why they do it. That stands with alot of things in life. Draft Risacher and build around him and Jalen Johnson. Turn them into a Tatum/Brown or Giannis and Middleton type. Trade Trae for picks for next years major draft class. Keep Big O and AJ and Buf

      Blasphemy!! 😄 You trade Trae, we set our franchise back to 2016! Clutchness is not a quantifiable stat and only certain players have that. Trae has that! It's a characteristic you need in a team leader to even come close to winning a championship!

    Here’s the prom you have if you dress or he doesn’t wanna be there he refuses to sign a contract with you then you have no choice but to trade him because he refuses to report or sign a contract and even if he does, let’s say it all works out he does come in, but he still doesn’t like to be there. He signs he says he’s not long. He wants a short term deal. He signs a short term deal with you guys and then he becomes a free and walks then you have nothing, it’s better. The guy who actually wants to go wants to come to you because Alex are at this point is a good defense player but is getting offensively lacking he’s not a player. I’ve said many times in the draft. Every person in this draft is not a top 15 picture there’s not one player who is the top 15 pick in most drafts Are concert over the top superstar Bonnie superstar there’s not they’re all everyone of them development players and even though I don’t think Kling’s gonna end up being more than just his highest ceiling is mark Eaton and his floor I would say is Greg Ostertag or who I think they really should draft and that’s Zaccharie Risacher who have said it many time reminds me a mixture of Scottie Pippen and Kevin Garnett and his ability is the way he does things younger version of them when they first came into the league. The only thing that Zachary really lacks when assistant basis is playmaking, which can be developed overtime offensively he’s pretty good defensively he can defend off for the five positions. He’s very good at defensively that’s who they should draft, he might develop the game. I think he could develop he could end up being Dominique Wilkins like maybe not the athletic of Dominique but he might have the capability of being like that being the Scottie Pippen like I said his floor my opinion is your base three in D guy, but like I said before there’s not one guy at this moment in this draft, that’s a normal draft is a top 15 pic. I understand everybody because he’s 7 foot and I just one number one you have this in your head but if I’m gonna say this many times if he goes to Atlanta where he wants, you guys want to win now he is most likely gonna end up being, the next Kwame Brown because the problem I’ve said this many times big men take time to develop. It’s easier to get a wing to develop their game. It is a big man. The reason Kwame Brown never developed. He could’ve been Washington draft. They were trying to win, and then he got traded to the Lakers and they were trying to win, and no one ever took time to actually develop his skills so we never became the doer he could’ve become, better to go to Washington development team will take time to develop him the right way then go somewhere where suspected to win right now

    Can this please happen?
    Draft Clingan.
    Trade Murray/Clint and recoup (hopefully younger) wings.
    Sign a veteran stretch big and point guard.
    Let Jalen Johnson be the #2 player

      I think you have part of the formula right, but you trade Hunter and Capela, not Murray. He's a 2nd weapon at the point when Trae is out keeping a 20+ pnt scorer and assister running your guard dominated team. We don't have Shaq or Lebron so we gotta focus around our guards and "points of attack".

    So strange that DJ, a great player, has really messed things up for the Hawks. Loss of draft capital and bad guard chemistry has really mucked things up. They really are in a situation where trading the #1 pick is a necessity.

    • @jasonbrunson4797
      @jasonbrunson4797 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's not DJ's fault, he's done everything he could as well as Trae. The media paint them as a problem together but it's the exact opposite. Fix Hunter and Capela with better fitting and reliable players and your not looking at a Play-in team. We're talking easy top 6 in the East if you address "going through the motions" players with more hussle. We have no "dog" in this team when we "turn up the defense" to turn a possession around. Need more Garrison Mattew's mentality on this team!

      What he lacks at times he totally makes up with enthusiasm and hustle! I'd rather watch that losing, than being calm and winning like robots! Thats what the Bulls looked like by 5th and 6th championship to me. Just business as usual. I like the feeling of lifting up and vacariously seeing through the players when I watch a game! Makes Trae fun through emotion though the league has painted him as "Darth Vader" of the evil empire!

    As a Spurs fan, I can’t imagine them or any team in the top 5 offering assets of real value to move to #1. The prospects are projected to have good fit in those spots. I think 6-9 is where ATL can look to get some assets from those teams trying to do a trade up, but I think the idea of dropping that many spots is not great and I still think the return will be limited. I think ATL should just draft best player available. Otherwise, a trade back is going to return limited value and some salary savings, which they might be okay with but probably not.

      I agree if we can't keep Sarr, or if we get a solid offer. Clingan would do what Clint did and maybe better coming off 2 college championships! He's a proven winner still learning. Sarr though could be insane w/ Trae though any big with Trae eats good at the table!

      @@jasonbrunson4797 Clint is a solid NBA center, but he reached his peak about 3 years ago. Clingan would have been a much better option in my opinion. If you're going to start a guy with limited range, he might as well be amongst the biggest and strongest. Clint's range is too limited to play power forward, yet he's kinda small for a center. A few years ago, it was rumored the Hawks had interest in Rudy Gobert. That would have been interesting to see him and Trae play together.
