Hell no. He plays good team defense but gets blown by easily on 1x1 defense. Being a good shooter only matters if you can consistently get your shot off contested as few shots are wide open. The NBA has taller players then college. He is too short to create on his own and consistently get his shot off when the ball is thrown to him. This draft is really not that weak in my opinion, it's just most of the players in it will be low impact in the first few years. I can see Stone/Ime trading down and getting a veteran combo guard and drafting a switch 5 center or a shooting guard. When it's over, everybody is going to react the same way we did when they signed Dillon and Fred. But when the season starts, the wins are going to show up. It's fun to guess; this is my guess, without details.

Feels like a bigger Dragic is realistic but there’s far more upside potential Clingan cannot shoot at all. Great defense but we need 4 shooters at all time so he cannot play with Amen or Alpi ever. When has a shooter this bad ever learned to shoot respectably? My choice is Topic
Amen can run point, we need shooting, which is why my vote is for Dalton Knecht. He is lights out and has size, plays some defense and runs the break. Dan Majerle 2.0.

I think he will pay off in the end if we select him. We can find another big man in the draft or through free agency. We just have to be patient.
I don’t think drafting a 6’2 180 point rookie fixed shooting for a team…. We need veterans to come in and help with shooting. I don’t think Shepard makes that much sense he will not play ahead of Amen, Fred, Jalen, or Cam
@@KerryWilliams-wf4dn You never know. Like I’ve said before, we can go to stretches of games and the same guys that you mention can’t buy a basket. We’ve had several of those games this season. Unless you get a super star veteran to come in and provide some shooting, Reed Shepard is your guy. Who really knows what this organization will do. It just makes for good conversation. Stephon Castle is also a good pick.
@@KerryWilliams-wf4dn Steph Curry, Chris Paul and many other small PGs will shoot you out of the gym, not sure what size has to so with shooting. I am sure Reed will be quick enough to get his shot off, and if not, he has a 42" vertical so that should help him as well.
Have only done a cursoury dive into tape but thus my preference goes Riseche, Sheppard, Holland n then Clingan. To me its about rarity of skill set, irrespective of ceilings. If Donovan becomes Marc 2.0 then that obviously changes things but if he is more a Kessler+, its easy enough to find that in FA or through trade.
Edey and Holmes are the 2 bigs I'm highest on in this years draft. Missi is 3rd. Then comes Clingan.. Next years draft is where I'm more looking for the long term backup big solution and my player of choice for that draft is Khaman Malauch. I would trade up for him if I had to.
Udoka is a good coach. If we're keeping the pick and Clingan is on the board at 3, I'd draft him. Udoka would figure it out on how to play him a Sengun together If need be. If he's not there then I'd draft Reed Sheppard .
Are there 2 different clingans alive? The clingan i watched was way too slow that i started thinking why Houston fans and podcasts attack on alpy for slowing the team?? And the clingan i watched was playing among little high school boys not proffesionals so i couldnt be sure how he reacts to real basketball players?( Alpy u dont like was playing against real basketball players since he was 16 as all euro players if you understand what i mean 🤔) , i think you watch a clon or copy of clingan with video speed at 1.5 faster 😀
good pod guys. short answer on Clingan........ NO. I think we need to look at the point guards. get someone who can give us shooting, floor general skills and play offball. Fred is getting long in the tooth and we need to start grooming a replacement. if Amen assumes the PG duties soon we can still use a player with a Fred like skill set to back him up. besides I would rather select the better of the PG's in this draft because you can bet SA will select one with the 4th pick to pair with Wemby if they don't trade for one. Sheppard feeding off Wemby? we must prevent that from happening if we think his shooting will translate to the NBA level. 1 kid no one seems to be talking about but I thought he was pretty good is the kid from Tenn. I think Knecht is his name. he's and older prospect but is a nice shooter and his shooting will translate to the NBA level I feel because he is a movement shooter. I also like Castle. Bigs like Clingan can be had in FA or trade far easier than skilled wings or PGs. being this high in a draft that doesn't have skilled Bigs and the wings don't jump off the page has me leaning PG
after reviewing some of his games w Uconn he is battle tested (vs Eddey!), but there are better prospects w the #3 pick - Id like my Rox to take Kinecht who carried Tennesse (watch him vs Sheppard's Wildcats) or Buzelis (IQ, Skill, LENGTH, but needs to work on his killer instinct and SHOT), or Holland (Jamal Crawford/Oct. C. Pope high energy vibes), even Castle (although a redundant poor man Cam Whitmore)
I really ca not understand why you need a big for drop coverage when you for sure need a PG with good shooting.. The most urgent need in 2-3 yearsa is a big for drop coverage???
They won't have as many opportunities to draft a quality true center. Compared to getting a shooter or PG. Height is just harder to get than shooting is right now. And players can practice to improve shooting, you can't do that with height. They don't have a long term backup center. And the second center should be able to cover for alpi's weaknesses, in the ways the rest of the roster can't. Also large bigs are coming back. Size and strength are becoming more important again as the transition between eras continues.
@@baha07TR Jokic or curuso??? Embiid or buddy held??? Wembenyama or cade??? Their really is more good shooters and PGs than Bigs right now. And bigs are coming back into fashion right now. You need to at least have to protect the rim some now.
I have to give Jackson some credit here, I think Dalton Knecht might be the Rockets best choice, especially if we can trade down to get him. Dude is like a young Dan Majerle but I think he is a better shooter. Knecht 3!!
Y’all need a high level shooting 2 guard before another big. Steven adams and Jeff Green are there. Two very different looks vs ALP. If Jalen is going to be inconsistent again next year which his track record says he will be, you need what KPJ was supposed to be for the team. And IME knows this
@@Htowndude1000 green 2-5 mins when needed and adams 15-20 mins? They are more then capable when healthy. And if they get injured you have Bari that can play mins at the 5. That team needs high shooting
Steven Adams is on a expiring deal and you don’t know if he can return to form. I’m iffy on the rockets drafting Clingan at 3 would have prefer Reed. But I would understand why the rockets would draft him
minnesota were able to do it because their bigs can shoot 3s, having rudy as the only non shooter. as for our rockets case, unless alpi improves that 3 pointer we will clog our paint with bigs on offense
I would draft either Sheppard or Dilly as Thompson can't shoot but is so athletic that combined with a shooter would put a lot of stress on other teams defense.
Though I like Matas Buzelis,Donovan clingan and rob dillingham. But think about this, if the Cavs can select Mobley with their no.3 in 2021,then the Rockets should select Donovan clingan with their no.3 pick. Clingan is taller than Mobley and he’s even better at college level.Above all he’s a winner.
I think there little to no reason to talk about who Rockets will pick this year. Draft is so random that most mock drafts don’t even line up and won’t know until the draft night
Again Context matters... Ime coached a big lineup that consist of Robert Williams that was an ATHLETIC DEFENSIVE big man, and AL Horford who can SHOOT and also a Defensive player.. ALP cant shoot to play the 4 like Horford, nor can he play good defense like Robert Williams at the 5...All these hypotheticals, are predicated on ALP ability to shoot which says alot about most of you ALP STANS. you guys are so Optimistic about ALP shooting, but what if he dosent gain a respectable shot form the outside, i mean he is in year 3. What if Amen develops a great shot from the outside, i would deemed him the best player on the rockets. what if jalen is more consistent do we need ALP in the game for 30 plus minutes? ALL these what-ifs no one talks about unless it has to do with Sengun shooting
Reed is good but where will he fit on this team, we are already so full at 1, 2 and 3. Beside Segun we have no one else at 5. Steve Adams is coming off his second serious knee injury and on the wrong side of 30 years old.
Clingan is the 3rd choice I want behind sarr and Sheppard. Sarr won't be there. It depends on what Washington do. I wouldnt be mad at Clingan at 3 if it ain't Sheppard.
I think Clingan will be okay. I would rather get Edey or Ware. Two guys we can get in the mid to later rounds and I think will have better careers than Clingan.
Hard pass! It'd be hard to see them playing along side each other in any lineup. Plus, It'd make no sense to have a 3rd overall pick backing up Segun. Not to mention, he and Adams bring same skillset and value. I'd much rather have Adams as backup big. Might as well just put together a trade with POR to get picks 7 and 14. From there just draft BPA. I think Knecht and Castle will fall in 7-9 range. Since Rockets are prioritizing shooting and spacing, I'd go with Dalton Knecht at 7 and Kel'el Ware at 14. Simple 🤷🏾♂️
What am I missing here? He's SLOW, moves awkwardly, and there's not a highlight where he's shooting anything outside of 2 feet away. He moves like he has arthritis and it's not athletic at all. These comparisons to brook Lopez have to stop! This guy is years away from contributing. We have Adams already.... We don't need him. We NEED shooting and ball handling. Reed Sheppard brings both! He measured 6'2 WITHOUT shoes. I'm fairly confident that he will be wearing shoes so he'll be closer to 6'4. Sheppard is also a really good defender. This puck is pretty simple to me. Just say NO to slow, unathletic people who are just going to sit. We have Boban for that
after much full game watching of most top prospects Ill take anyone at the 3 EXCEPT 6'-1" Reed Sheppard!. Can definitely shoot, has high basketball IQ, but plays scared 90% of the time, and his 42" vert is practically useless in any traffic. Sadly he is practically see-through on defense, a green light to many college offensive players. Oh anyone except this guy please. (Not at all impressed by Sarr either... not enough sand in his pants, Bambi legs, shaqtn a fool ROY)
I hope you guys are paying attention to the teams in the playoffs. All of them are long and athletic. Each team has legitimate length and rim protection. The Rockets will not get far without adding both of these qualities. Drafting a 6’1” PG is not a need. Their need is length ands shooting. Shooting they will add through free agency. A veteran shooter. Length and athleticism through the draft. Zach Edey is much better than Clingan. Ke el Ware and Tyler Smith are all better than Clingan who had the worse Combine numbers than any of the top centers He is completely overrated. He is slow. He cant jump. He will be a bench player. Madison is completely wrong on Clingan. Edey will be a much better pro. The Rockets will not draft Clingan or Sheppard.
A segment of the media doing everything in their powers to distract the Rockets from looking at Rob Dillingham. They throwning all these useless White players at us as if they're better replacements than who we have at each of those position. Like, Reed. He's a 6'3 SG that can play "some" point. So he would be behind Jalen Green at the 2 spot but we got Cam Whitmore at the 2 whom is heads and shoulders better than Reed. So why would we draft him?? Even if we was to draft him as a PG, he's not a better PG talent than Rob Dillingham. So, again, why would we draft him? Its pointless. And then this Risarcher guy. He's 6'8.....we got Brooks/Tari/Amen in that spot. And Tari is better than all of them except Brooks. So, why would we draft Risarcher? And the Clingan dude. We just signed Adams. There is no way Clingnan would even get minutes over Landale as a 3rd stringer behind Sengun and Adams. So, thats a waste pick, too. The only guy that make sense is Rob Dillingham because he's better than Aaron Holiday. And can shoot. He's our pick. Stop trying to trick us out from drafting Rob!
How would you feel about the Rockets taking Donovan Clingan with the #3 pick?
Zach Edey is better. Believe me, we will regret if we drafted clingan over Edey. It is a no brainer to draft alonzo morning over shaq.

I would trade up for him if I had to.
just based on his youtube highlights Malauch would easily be #1 in this draft. Wow!
I like Edey or Ware over Clingan.
I want us to draft Reed Sheppard or ron holland better fits in my opinion
Pretty easy choice to go with Clingan. Need depth to matchup with other bigs in the conference like Chet, Wemby, Jokic and Gobert
Our front court will be set for the next 5-7 years… sengun, Jabari, Clingan
good pod guys. short answer on Clingan........
Picking a center at number three OK now y’all making sense I would take a Shooter too only the best one in the draft tho
after reviewing some of his games w Uconn he is battle tested (vs Eddey!), but there are better prospects w the #3 pick - Id like my Rox to take Kinecht who carried Tennesse (watch him vs Sheppard's Wildcats) or Buzelis (IQ, Skill, LENGTH, but needs to work on his killer instinct and SHOT), or Holland (Jamal Crawford/Oct.
@@wuzi7049 SGA or Gomez ... Haliburton or Gobert..... Derric White/Donnovan Mitchel or ??? IMHO It is harder to find better PG with good shooting.
And IME knows this
Love those guys but they are dinosaurs
@@Htowndude1000 green 2-5 mins when needed and adams 15-20 mins? They are more then capable when healthy. And if they get injured you have Bari that can play mins at the 5. That team needs high shooting
Steven Adams is on a expiring deal and you don’t know if he can return to form.
I’m iffy on the rockets drafting Clingan at 3 would have prefer Reed. But I would understand why the rockets would draft him
I like Donovan but Reed the shooter is crazy good
minnesota were able to do it because their bigs can shoot 3s, having rudy as the only non shooter. as for our rockets case, unless alpi improves that 3 pointer we will clog our paint with bigs on offense
I would draft either Sheppard or Dilly as Thompson can't shoot but is so athletic that combined with a shooter would put a lot of stress on other teams defense.
i hope they dont draft this guy ...drafting a backup center with the 3rd pick thats crazy...3rd pick wasted
Sheppard’s jump shot might translate to the nba clingan’s size definitely will
Anyone over 7'1" will have a stunted career riddled with injury issues.
Sarr, Zacharie, Clingan
Though I like Matas Buzelis,Donovan clingan and rob dillingham. But think about this, if the Cavs can select Mobley with their no.3 in 2021,then the Rockets should select Donovan clingan with their no.3 pick. Clingan is taller than Mobley and he’s even better at college level.Above all he’s a winner.
The so obvious pick is Sheppard as he can learn from fvv, just take care of the ball, try hard on defense, and shoot well.
We literally just drafted Amen Thompson…..
@KerryWilliams-wf4dn amen is very different than Sheppard. They both fit on this team
Draft reed n trade up 4 edey
Sheppard or Risacher....otherwise trade the pick or trade back. Reed is ready to play day 1. With Risacher, I don't know where he'll get minutes.
I think there little to no reason to talk about who Rockets will pick this year. Draft is so random that most mock drafts don’t even line up and won’t know until the draft night
If we are getting a big trade down the pick. Get some value to go with it.
Draft the two time national championship big if we don’t get Sarr or zacharrie
Clingan, Shepherd, or Risacher.😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
This guy is going to get ATE THE HELL UP in screen a role,u can trade a SRP for Luke kornet instead of drafting him at 3,…just trade the pick🤦🏾♂️
A good high end comp would be Patrick Ewing.
Reed is good but where will he fit on this team, we are already so full at 1, 2 and 3. Beside Segun we have no one else at 5. Steve Adams is coming off his second serious knee injury and on the wrong side of 30 years old.
Not all the time, but pretty often Madison sounds quite Samuel L. Jackson.
It's cool, Donovan Clingan is talented and high IQ player. He can shoot and pass. He will be better than Rudy Gobert.
where did u get he can shoot from?😭 57% from free throw line is absurd
We need size, we too little and he can shoot. Draft him
Clingan is the 3rd choice I want behind sarr and Sheppard. Sarr won't be there. It depends on what Washington do. I wouldnt be mad at Clingan at 3 if it ain't Sheppard.
Madison you did a good job selling Donovan. Just don’t like him for us at pick 3
Simple 🤷🏾♂️
FVV/Amen, Donovan Mitchell/Cam, Tari/Brooks, Clingan/Jabari, Sengun/Adams.. No Jalen Green. Playoff semis…
Thts not comp. You guys literaly described omer sik
I prefer reed or zachiere
Dalton Knecht 3 level scorer. nba ready frame and atheleticism. rockets should trade down unless they get one of the 2 french prospects
We have Boban for that
I'm all finding Jaken Greens replacement nit alpherens. Thank you very much. Green needs to get traded, high volume inefficient scorer
after much full game watching of most top prospects Ill take anyone at the 3 EXCEPT 6'-1" Reed Sheppard!. Can definitely shoot, has high basketball IQ, but plays scared 90% of the time, and his 42" vert is practically useless in any traffic. Sadly he is practically see-through on defense, a green light to many college offensive players. Oh anyone except this guy please. (Not at all impressed by Sarr either... not enough sand in his pants, Bambi legs, shaqtn a fool ROY)
clingan nice but we want reed!
He's my least favorite prospect. We need shooting so much.
Ke el Ware and Tyler Smith are all better than Clingan who had the worse Combine numbers than any of the top centers
He is completely overrated. He is slow. He cant jump. He will be a bench player. Madison is completely wrong on Clingan. Edey will be a much better pro.
The Rockets will not draft Clingan or Sheppard.
Gasol and this kid have nothing in common
Edey is a much more dominant offensively and polished than Clingan. Edey should be the number 3 pick and Clingan around pick 20.
Trade Jalen Green, and draft any two of Reed Sheppard, Donovan Clingan and Zaccharie Risacher.
