    I've had trouble with high notes for a long time, because I always had a low voice so it was very difficult for me. I preform with a group as a solo artist and I'll sing Hallelujah at the end of December. The problem is that I sing Alexandra Burke's version, and always sing very high but it doesn't dound right. I improved this year, thanks to my teacher.
    So, thank you so much for uploading this video! I am sure it will help me, and the others!

      This info is partially incorrect -- head voice starts around C6 and most humans never used their head voice and don't know how to access it (head voice can only be used in coloratura staccatos above C6) and, falsetto is a vocal technique that makes one's mixed voice airier, so this guy has only used his chest voice and his mixed voice, not his head voice...

    • @FrozenMermaid666
      @FrozenMermaid666 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Most humans have a very limited natural singing range, so they shouldn't be trying to sing outside their natural range, as it's only going to sound ferced and unpleasant -- I am the only being who has the natural singing range that is the widest range (in all vocal registers) that allows me to sing all the notes on a piano without any straining/fercing and without yelling, myself being the coloratura sopranino (unique voice type) aka the being with the highest voice on Earth (that can also reach the lowest notes) and the lightest and brightest tone!

    Not true
    I’m a girl and wow I can’t go high that well.
    Here’s a tip.

      @Mallory Moore and make sure you’re not straining your voice every time you sing. drinking water and tea to keep your throat hydrated is good and massaging your neck muscles can release that tension you sing. if you have a sore throat, instead of singing vowels, try lip trills!!!

    4:03 idk if it’s related to that, but one morning as i woke up, my mom had music playing really loud on our speakers and I really love the song she was playing so i ran to the living and started singing along, and somehow i was really in control of my voice. It didn’t break even when i tried to do a crazy high note
    I was so shock cuz normally my voice is really unstable when I’m trying to do a higher register.
    But that day my voice was amazing
    Maybe because i started singing as soon as i woke up?

Of course not like opera duh, but compared to how I couldn’t reach anything, this helped me so much!! This is amazing!! The part in Alec Benjamin’s song ‘Water fountain’ that says ‘whispering in her ^^ear and she knows that she shouldn’t listen’ I was having trouble with that one. But now I can sing it!! Don’t be afraid of falsetto! It is healthier than pushing head prematurely and is the prerequisite to a mixed voice that allows you to access much higher and more powerful sounds. I come from a classical background so this may be different if you are working for a musical theatre belt rather than an opera mix.

      You are right! Well kept secret is that operatic tenors develope and integrate the falsetto , then add body connection. Very evident in Bjoerling and Pavarotti. Falsetto isn't cheating. Its actually the key. The falsetto he demonstrates here is the undeveloped, detached falsetto.

    I was never taught I just have watched a few videos on subharmonics and the deepest ranges for when I throat sing (still can it's healthy and fun)
    now Im expanding my range higher instead of lower and I watched this and I was legitimately shocked at how I was able to make such a high note.
    Swear I'm trying to train my whole range to be able to go from low lows and high highs
    I love singing through my entire range
    Somebody I used to know and The Less I know the Better are the two that come to mind that helped me come to head voice as you call it
    Then Disturbs Sound of Silence and Take me to Church made me wanna get deeper
    I love singing it's so much fun and healthy for my lungs
    I smoke a lot so I try to be extra proactive about doing what I can for my lungs and singing helps me keep my lungs expandable
    Throat singing helps with congestion and build up in case you didn't know ❤️

    Where the resonance should feel? The higher I go it will get stuck in the neck/larynx, like being chocked

    • @angelopolo3761
      @angelopolo3761 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Practice talking with placing your voice in ur face like a mask and try making a nasally sound you'll feel like a vibration then try singing like that if it's to nasally lay off and balance it out you want good placement like around the roof of your mouth

    • @vegeta1885
      @vegeta1885 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Then step back, the resonance should be more and more in the head as you go higher, you maintain the diaph. support. Feeling like chocked around the neck means your support is not strong enough and the neck muscles compensate for the lack of power just to push out that note, that's what you want to avoid. What to do: Do breathing exercies every day a keep practising this, keep in mind that you have to concentrate on being speaking volume at max! you cannot hold superquiet(like in this video) after the passagio or a half note above that. So there's a part where you have add a little volume or as we call it intensity to the sound, that's okay, don't be afraid of the note, but that's still not "belt loud" that needs years of training. The tenors who belt the famous C5 can hit that note in speaking volume and scale above that to D5 or Eb5.

  • @TruthSurge
    @TruthSurge 4 ปีที่แล้ว +489

      But the technique itself is. He was reaching A#4 here softly. Just because you are lower voice type, does not mean it wouldn't help. Just keep your scale where your voice lies. Also: just because you cannot hit some notes now doesn't mean you won't. This exercise is about reaching those notes, there is a different story how to strengthen them and learn to belt.

    • @stuartrussell4041
      @stuartrussell4041 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Not relevant. A tuba and a flute are designed to create specific sounds in the orchestral repertoire. Almost all human voices can be trained to produce a substantial range of sounds. A baritone can be a tenor or a bass but for a very limited time in areas which are the comfort zones of natural tenors and basses, the same as a mezzo's position between sopranos and contraltos.

  • @rjnaive4825

    Just a friendly tip for all especially those who are still starting to sing or developing just like me that whenever you sing, you just have to exhale air through your mouth, but not to the point you become breathy. That's one thing not to have tension on your neck or throat.

  • @Christian_Girl120

    I was classified as an Alto for years. But now, even at 55 I can reach a high G above high C. I'm careful however. I'm not 25 anymore! LOL! Breath control is a must. I was taught to do that so I wouldn't blow my voice out. Straining is not a good idea. Being able to control the volume of your voice is important too. I use my head voice more, but I can make it clearer than it used to be. Great video!

    Thank you so much for distinguishing between the falsetto and head registers!
    I don't know why people don't do that more often... It's as if they don't know how they're different.

    1. Relax jaw, chest
    2. Sing at a low volume. Not a falsetto.
    3. Closed vocal folds. Not open (as in Falsetto)
    4. Gently push. Try a semi-tone higher than yesterday.

    I can’t sing anything but I love your videos 😂.
    Could you please react to Chandelier Aitana OT 2017 and to “Arde segundo pase de micros” (in both she is singing completely live)

    If it helps, go softly and sing normally and just get 1 higher volume and on the last one go as high as you want but make it short so you don’t voice crack

    I've been working on my lower registor a lot and have been neglecting my highs. I realized my vocal range wasn't really there (d2 to f3 chest and e4 falsetto) so now I'm giving my high notes some much needed attention.

    Very cool insight into how connected cords can sing softer than disconnected cords in certain ranges.
