    Instead of owning up to the issue I do hate it when places come back with lame excuses like "well we do that for configurations" when you buy something for a specific use case.

    Hey! Nice Case! I used to run the same one but in black for my home threadripper server. Its nice, you'll like it. I'm only 10 min in and wont be able to watch the rest until after work, but I would be frustrated as all hell about the fitment issues. Hopefully it will get worked out, but I guess I will see. Keep up the Good Work, brother.
    Edit: Ok, watched it at lunch. Man, I would want at least a partial refund. It's good that the creator wanted to make it right and pay shipping and such, but I woulnt want to ship it back either. Also, the case I used was the O11 Dynamic XL. Basically the same. Anyway, it really turned out great in the end. I love the way it looks. I hope you can get the card bracket figured out. I've used SendCutSend before with some custom automotive projects I've done and their quality is top notch.

      it was not my intention to discredit or "bash" anyones business. I think i handled it in a descent way. all things considered. And yes while he did offer to cover a shipping run, it still was too risky and expensive by that point. just look at the list of parts in the extended desc and you will see why i titled the video the way i did. Thanks for watching!

    The ability to integrate the ancient and the modern makes this a great time to be alive. With that thought I have a proposal to make your Amiga 4000 even more expensive. Create a serial to USB interface so that you can connect the Amiga to the Pi. That way you can control your fan lighting from the Amiga.

    Long but cool video. I have been looking forward to it for a while. Very disappointing the case builder made soo many basic mistakes. I would have sent the motherboard tray, backplane plate, and zorro drive cage back to him to fix/replace. Let him buy another case for fitting. Get yourself a purple ZuluSCSI compact from torsti76! Good to hear the vacuum works hearing it twice in the background. Cannot have clean enough carpets.

  • @MrJakeTucker
    @MrJakeTucker หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Glad you're happy with it Chris.
    Personally I hate any lights in my PC case. I can't see what purpose they serve. My black keyboard's keys are lit but that serves a reason as I like low lighting and the lit keys help me see what key I'm pressing.
    RGB cases are so prevalent these days it's like if you don't want RGB you have to go out of your way to find them. Same with my old TV. Not smart and with lovely component sockets. If I want a new TV getting a non smart one will be harder than a smart one.
    And they call this progress!

    I had the opposite screw location problem on my UnAmiga 500 board. The screw holes in that board would not line up with either the A500 case or the Checkmate case screw holes. It was frustrating only being able to screw in one or two screws.

    • @tspawn35
      @tspawn35 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Man, I have that same problem with the Checkmate case. Though, for a separate reason. It was built for the A500 and is absolutely amazing for it. When I put a 1200 into it. Only like 2 screw holes line up. Works fine just annoying that it could take the a1200 but wasn't built with it really in mind.

And he should also send you a ‘Fist full of dollars’ back to cover you costs and trouble. Hopefully, you can get it sorted to a point where you are happy.

  • @endotherm
    @endotherm หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    Use a nibbler rather than grinding the slots/cutouts. It won't burn away the powder coat. It will leave some exposed metal on the edges but not as obvious as grinder burn.
    With the misaligned mounting plate holes, consider installing riv-nuts/nut-serts in the wallowed out holes. It will require larger holes to mount them, but you will have threaded inserts/holes exactly where YOU want them. I assume they make them that small... [yep, from 3mm up is readily available]
    With the riser bar, can you make something out of clear acrylic? Shouldn't be as visible/obvious in the case windows.
    I wasn't quite clear on how you addressed the flapping back panel that caused the issues initially.
    Shame you have to spend more and reinvent the wheel, but that's the hazard of custom jobs.

    Interesting video Dr Chris. I nearly took up an offer from that seller for a A4KD Bespoke tower case. I sort of glad I didn’t. Keep your eye on Ordyne over on Amibay. I bought one of his first batch of the A4KD custom cases he made. I also inputted on a couple of the rear slots for SCSI 25 and RATTE monitor switcher. As well as the front fan for the accelerator cooling. Oh, are you aware of the V2.2 ACILL A4K Desktop boards? They boast a lot of improvements over the ACILL version 1. Such as 128MB Fast RAM and 1MB KS ROM support. Cheers 🍻

    Could it have been possible to have rotated that plate and made all new holes in fresh metal? Either send him the MB plate and back with your sharpie cut marks & photos for rework, or remake it all and send him the bill (include powder coat, laser cutting, etc.costs). Don't forget the rivet holes in both lower rear parts to secure the MB and not have it loose. All he needs is a metal finger bracket screwed into the leading edge of the MB plate to extend and hold the riser card edge with a plastic clip. That would remove the wire holding it up.

      @@ChrisEdwardsRestoration Yeah, I tend to comment before the end sometimes. Yeah, the plexi looks better than the original. I was more talking about the Zorro slot face. Design, 3dprint, adjust design, 3dprint, adjust design, 3dprint and then send it off to PCBway to produce. You could likely get it milled out of aluminum cheaper than shipping the case back to Hungary, and I wouldn't deal with that guy anyways, very shoddy work...and shipped it to you like that at your great expense. • @IntenseGrid

      @@ChrisEdwardsRestoration As for that loose lower corner, I would recommend that you have someone stateside spot weld a stud to it. with cooling on the other side like an ice cube pressed on the back side of the weld spot, they may be able to pull off a good weld without messing up the powder coat. Then you get it back, and use a bit of marking compound (or waxy makeup) to mark where the corresponding hole should be, center punch it (to keep your drill bit from walking) and drill it.

    Reminds me of the time when the Mars Climate Orbiter took a dump due to lost in communication issues between imperial unit measurement and SI metric unit measurements. Now that was a real costly and avoidable F'up and apparently due to procedural steps not taken. Oh well, at least the purple people eater didn't die in some kind of cosmic fireball but the orbiter that got lost is still, well, lost. (Purple wallet eater?)
    Funny, after all this time since the orbiter's 9-23-1999 launch and trying to google the total cost of the loss, I guess most of the finger pointing is mostly done? Anyway, google searches came up with about $327.6 million & change as an admitted total. Unlike NASA I'll assume most of the dumb finger pointing and knit picking is done as to whatever happened to Commodore.
