    I am from Pennsylvania Amish country and worked for a family owned business that specializes in potato bread and rolls! I retired after 29 years with them and they are going better than ever! In fact they are the number one potato roll being made in the country!

      @@Stacy_SJA we moved from Delaware to Arkansas and if we get lucky you will find Pepperidge Farms potato bread. But it is not as good as Martins. When family comes to visit we have them bring 20 + lbs. of scrapple and several loafs of martins potato bread for the freezer. Were gonna try this guys recipe in the morning. hoping that it turns out great.

    I tried this recipe today and it made a very fluffy, soft white bread with a crispy crust. It had very good white bread taste. I was surprised how well the dough rise was considering the dough has no sugar to charge up the yeast. I did have to add a little more water and was able to create a dough that was tacky but not sticky like a white loaf dough should be. I liked the recipe enough that the next time I make home made mashed potatoes I will put 1/2 a cup aside for the making of this recipe.

    I have a strong preference for easy breads. I am making no-knead potato bread right now. I find the higher hydration to make superior bread and no-knead seems easier to me. I use instant potato flakes as my potato element.

    Question: were potatoes plain, or butter and milk added?
    Comment: I buy active dry yeast in Costco, keep a small jar in the fridge, and the rest in a large air tight jar in the freezer. You can add directly to the dry ingredients.

    • @DeepSouthTexas
      @DeepSouthTexas  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I did not make the mashed potatoes but I would think they had butter and milk. Dry active yeast needs to be activated, so no, you can not add it to the dry ingredients like it is instant yeast. 🤠
