I listened to the west end recordings and i'm British and the only song i preferred to the original was shine a light reprise because she sounded more desperate at the start then the original. I waaaaay prefer the Broadway original though.

Either she was there and they just didn't cut to her... or they had already recorded the few (or is it just one) song she sang in, and let her record her vocal parts for other songs so she didn't have to stick around. Martha (Katie) had few songs/lines in songs, whereas Veronica (Barrett) was part of or main singer for most of the songs, thus had to be there the whole session anyway.
