My Simple Approach to Color Grading in DaVinci Resolve | Fujifilm + Flog 2

- I remember a few years ago feeling very intimidated by color grading and wasn't sure how people were getting consistent looks regardless of the camera they were shooting on. I would buy different LUTs that promised results but did not know the first think about how to use them. So my heart in making this video is to show you guys in depth how I approach using my Meadow LUTs & Film Effects and how to get the most out of them. While this video is not all encompassing or highly technical, the techniques seen here are what I use to get a rough grade built for a project. After doing this I will often go back through and make much more fine tuned adjustments if needed. Holler with any questions down below :)

Thanks for checking this video out! While this is not a highly technical video about color grading, I hope that you would find it helpful and that you would be encouraged to continue to improve your own skills, style and technique. Let me know your thoughts or any questions below :)
the video we've all been waiting for, THANK YOU!!
Hahaha thanks John :)
Awesome grades! I especially like seeing all the clips next to each other, each with great lighting.
Thanks so much!
Really beautiful colors!! ❤
Thanks so much! The fuji footage makes grading lots of fun :)
Really great walk through and excellent work. Would love to learn how to set up your DaVinci interface to look like this.
Thanks so much! Which parts of the interface specifically?
Purchased your luts and the film fx yesterday. They look amazing on your footage but I also wanted to support your channel which needs to be bigger (and it rapidly will considering you've only been doing this for a year). Currently I'm using a Fuji X-S10 and X-T2 which, as you know, have 8 bit footage. Haven't been around to trying them yet, but do you think there will be issues using them on 8-bit? Any tips or do you think they will be absolutely fine considering they use the (tweaked) Classic Chrome profile and not F-Log? Thanks in advance and keep up the amazing work!
Thanks so much for the support man! Love that. I don't think you should have any issues using them on 8bit footage as long as it is exposed correctly and your white balance is close to true. My Meadow Standard Luts should be great on that tweaked classic chrome profile. My Flog luts are really only for Flog1 or 2. Hope that helps and really appreciate the encouragement :)
well thank you. I was thinking how you "painted" "arranged" some things in that music video.
Not sure what you mean but you are welcome :)
Hi there, I bought the LUT could you please tell me what is the version of Davinci that I need for this to work? Amazing work Blase
Appreciate the support. LUTs will work in any version of Resolve
Hi Blase, hope you're well.. I noticed that you have the ASUS ProArt PA248QV external display. I was wondering what do you think about it and how it works on a mac ?
thanks in advance,
Marc
it’s great although i’m not sure i love the 16x10 aspect ratio. would maybe opt for something 16x9 my next go around. i don’t use it for grading but rather rely on my mac display for more accurate colors. that said, it’s a great budget monitor and has served me well. i usually have resolve open on it and then have “use clean feed” turned on my macbook screen to view the full image in full screen. that workflow i’m super happy with and has no cons for me :)
When you’re out on a shoot, how do you choose between film sim, flog, + flog2? Going through that myself and wondering what your selection process is like. Is it based on exposure? Thanks!
these days for professional work I am pulling for Flog 2. Classic chrome only if it’s a less important projects or when a fast turn around is needed where I don’t need the extra dynamic range
I purchased your MEADOW FUJIFILM F-LOG LUTS package however in the package I only received 3 Luts and 1 instruction. I wonder if this is enough product that I should have received? Looking forward to your feedback and support.
Hi! Feel free to email me with any support questions.
@15:50, is there a rec709 involved or is it flog2 straight to lut?
That clip is just Fuji F-Log2 straight into my Meadow F-Log2 Lut. Then finished off with my Meadow Film FX Subtle.
@@blasepivovar nice man, thank you 🙏🏽
Hi mate,
Will these luts work ok with Braw? great tones btw
Thanks so much! I haven't done any extensive testing with B Raw but if you wanted to send me some example footage, I'd be happy to show you how they grade! I've done that for several folks even with other Log profiles like C Log and S Log. You can find my email on my website if that would be of interest to you :)
Thanks for the offer to test out some footage…just emailed you. Cheers
@danielpreston1403 amazing. will check it out and let you know!
