I use the Gafpa Kodak Lut and it’s amazing for 90% of my work. I really like how the exposure and contrast looks without any adjustments - it’s so close to what I would do myself. It saves so much time! Haven’t found the skintones to look weird with it, but would say the greens and shadows can be a little to be blue (which is easily fixed).
@GlennUpgraded husn melara is more matrix based and is not 100% right. The one from Gafpa especially when you need an accurate match os the best when working with alexas
hey man, you honestly have some of the nicest xh2s footage I've used, looks like a legitimate cinema camera when you use it. What do you use to soften the footage? nothing looks way too sharp.
I appreciate that! It’s a combination of speedboosters, some vintage glass, but even with modern glass I’ve found using bloom in dehancer and midtone detail or soften in davinci can work some magic. I plan to do a detailed video over this soon!
That will all be scene dependent. My advice is to try to practice in as many scenes as possible, keep note of your settings, and go to the computer and see what you did wrong until you develop the eye for it. In general, I use an external monitor with false colors to help expose and then either a grey card or xrite passport for WB
Heya, just been jumping back and forth between the Phantom LUT (Neutral) and the Fuji Flog2 to Rec709 LUT and it looks like the only real difference is that the Phantom one has more green (as Arri does). Do you have any more technical details about the phantom LUTs in terms of what else they change? Highlight rolloff, etc?
@@itsaaronmiller I use them and I think they’re very solid. They were made by a professional colorist with years of experience. I think they’re worth it.
@@laughwithoutsmiling awesome! I’d be happy to try them out if they weren’t sent my way. These phantom LUTs were devolved by a DP that owned and compared footage to his Alexa mini / Alexa 35. They pretty much give me exactly what I want from my footage. I’m curious how LutCo would compare!
I' a complete beginner in terms of LUTs. Let's say I have Flog1 and I put it in a NLE, for example Premiere. There are multiple LUTs by Fuji. If my final result is supposed to be a slightly modified Eterna look, do I need to put in the Flog to rec709 and then the Flog to Eterna LUT or can I go directly to the Flog to Eterna LUT? Another question is should I put the LUT on first and then color correct or vice versa? I know that there is a primary and secondary color correct wheel. What is the meaning of this and what is the order of things I have to do? Thanks! P.S. I'm not using Resolve.
@@itsaaronmiller ahh Zeiss…. That must be whats helping it look different ! Thank you. That lens looks awesome.. have you compared to the Fuji 50 1.0 ??
@@BingoBabyO yeah that zeiss has some magic! I haven’t compared it to that one, but I have a comparison on my channel to the 56mm 1.2 as well as a canon FD 50mm
Your comparison lacks one more conversion LUT, which I find to be absolutely the best in case of other cameras (I haven't used X-h2s yet) - emotive color.
Just curious. Since this is only for f-log2/xh2s, do you use this exclusively when you're justing shooting with one camera (the XH2S)? I'm also an XH2S and XT4 owner. I'm just wondering what someone with an XT4 as a bcam would do to color match.
Currently my A & B cams are the XH2S this isn't an issue for commercial work because I don't use more than 2 angles. But for weddings, my gimbal is the XT4. I use my gimbal enough that I was hesitant to move to FLOG2 because of the workflow. So I have just been using flog1 except rare occasions like If i'm going handheld for a sunset shoot with my 2nd on the XH2S as well. I plan to get a 3rd XH2S soon though and fully move to FLOG2. I think you could get away with matching if you primarily use 1 angle, but it might be a hassle
@@justcallmebones you can get emotive luts. Another arri conversion. They have one for flog 1 and 2 (both the xh2s and xt4/xt3). Would highly recomend.
Ah yeah, I should have! I did while reviewing footage and they weren’t at all similar. Very different. Maybe I can share some stills of this as a community post
@@itsaaronmiller I bought them yesterday too - tested it a couple minutes ago - and I´m very happy with the footage. Much better Starting Point than the original Fuji LUT.
No idea what you’re going through, but I’m sorry and things will get better. Spend time with people that love you and you’ll make it out on the other side.
You can use a CST with Arri Clog3 (gamma) and Rec2020 (Colour) as the inputs
Interesting. I'll have to try that. I have heard the gamma curves are very similar

Can we all agree the Fuji correction lut is disappointing to everyone
I also love LutCo luts
Yeah it’s bad haha idk why they didn’t take more care to develop a better correction LUT

Do you think it will work well with Fuji x100vi ?
It should if you use flog2!
What’s your grading process with the phantom LUTs in davinci?
Wooow !!! Sound cool ! But a before/after with DVR will be great !
I plan to do a follow up color grade workflow with these soon so will definitely do have a before and after in that video!
Amazing ! do you think its possible to use these flog 2 phantom luts in flog ?
What's a good LUT for action sports (surfing)?
These will do the trick for sure!
do you think that it is easy to get the "real colours and skin tones" if I don't won't sometimes the fuji look?
I think that’s purely subjective. Fuji skin tones look pleasing and quite natural to me
Will this work with just the xh2 as well? I’m looking for a decent lut pack to grab for it
If you shoot in F-Log2, it should. Maybe just a few adjustments since it’s a different sensor, but should be a better starting point for sure.
