    Here’s a tip for sharpening Fuji files in LR.
    Leave the detail slider to 0 and only adjust the sharpening and masking.
    These way you can control the overall sharpness without worrying about worms or weird artifacts

    The ISO / Rear Dial thing isn't that much of an issue in my view. Yes, you have to hit the 'ISO' button on top plate first (rear of shutter button), but once done can then adjust ISO using the rear dial (which I normally have set to exposure comp). Once new ISO is set with the rear dial, the rear dial returns to its normal use.

    Great video Mitch, really love your work! I have a general comment about APSC sensors... I hate when people shit on them saying you need full-frame to do professional work. I think people forget that FujiFilm cameras mainly use only APSC and lots of "PROS" do use them. I shoot SONY APSC and it's fantastic as well. Cheers from Canada 🍁 Brett

    Excellent production! I have been using the XH2s as my main body for the last month. Massive step in in focus performance but high iso performance is still underwhelming. The lack ISO dial is perplexing and it only makes sense that Fuji will address it in a software update. Interested to hear your thoughts on the XH2 compared to the S.

I literally buy gear based on your videos. So far I’ve referenced you before buying two different lenses. Tamrons 35 1.4 and two weeks ago I pulled the trigger on the ever holy 28-70 f2 RF after watching your video on it. Now you’ve got me thinking about Fuji. You’re a master of your craft sir.

    Same here! back to Fuji since my XT3, The XH2S fixes and perfects their formula. The sensor is a massive upgrade in IQ and lets not get into all other body components that makes this camera close to perfection for any hybrid shooter or one man band.

    • @jayzn1931
      @jayzn1931 ปีที่แล้ว

      Where do you see an IQ improvement compared to the X-T3? Afaik it's the same sensor, only stacked?

    • @eddieriosyt
      @eddieriosyt ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jayzn1931 after owning both cameras I can tell by how much latitude, color rendition (as it is 422 now vs 420 before so no more blotches in color areas like the sky) the idea of it being stacked is that the speed and processing of the image allows better and more advance image capture resulting in higher IQ. If you change or add something to anything it’s not the same when it comes down to results.

    I've been considering the X-H2 for the 17-70 from Tamron and just grabbing the 23 1.4 LM WR my favorite focal length (35mm) and just calling it a day, the current system I use is Sony and the Sony A7IV with the 35 and 90 and I feel like I couldnt get the same amount of focal length on full-frame without grabbing multiple lenses. I really really do miss the JPEG recipes and having the option to edit the photos later if I so feel.
    What would your opinion be to grab the XH2 and replace my A7IV kit?
    I currently only do paid video work for social media content and non-paid portrait work and would love to have the Fuji recipes back in my hand.

    Welcome back to Fuji - I switched from a R5 to a x-h2s because of the ridiculous canon lens price and availability of fast lenses. Try out the 56mm f1.2 at $1500 aud vs anything canon below $2500 to get a sense of what I mean - and boy is the bokeh creamy. 4:20 I would not abandon my FUJI gear for that extra bit of depth of field. I think FUJI put the full frame debate behind us, with the X h2 and X h2s. There is nothing like FUJI. The size, especially of lenses, quality, colour science and cost makes it special. Carry light gear, get more done. Nice portrait pics.

    That lens is amazing, loved the contrast, the tones and background separation, the bokeh is so smooth it sometimes look like full frame! It's really tempting to go back to Fuji from my R6. I moved from X-T3 to R6 because the Fuji AF and tracking was just not reliable, the R6 is on another level. But Fujifilm lenses have such a special rendering and a much lower price compared to Canon... the cheaper RF lenses don't even come close. I have the RF 24-70 which I love though, but was it was expensive as hell and I could never purchase another lens like that for similar price. I guess I have to stick with the cheaper EF L lenses for now.
    Are you thinking of switching your Canon gear to Fujifilm?

    • @27hdyx6b3ym3w
      @27hdyx6b3ym3w ปีที่แล้ว

      Agree with this! No mid-range FF lens can top the best Fuji primes for the same price. Rendering is just so special with these Fuji lenses, even the new ones. Makes it harder to choose between APSC vs FF.

    Beautiful work Mitch. Always used FF but considering this or the X-T5 next month. I edit stuff like movie stills anyways, S35 would be good for more context in a shot while keeping that creaminess, the camera (correct me if i'm wrong) seems to mostly have luminance noise and no "confetti" chroma noise which is much more (IMO) pleasing like film grain, and I enjoy editing/post work life but i've been wanting to shoot a more analog style lately, film sims help create a theme more efficiently from the start. (specially Eterna/FLOG for video and the huge DR) Canon has been good to me, but the amount of insane bokeh FF provides is only needed maybe 1 outta 50 shots for me...and I can only afford their 1.8 primes anyways lol
    Thing i'll probably miss the most tho...sensor cover:( Such a clutch feature from Canon, keeps everything clean and I don't trust myself enough to touch the sensor anyways. I only usually have 1-3 primes at most tho, so if I keep em on the camera a lot I should be ok. I do wish Fuji had a nice wide aperture 28mm tho, easily my favorite but seems like so few out there. (unless you go expensive cine)

    Can you make a comparison video full frame vs. apsc where you compare the fuji xh2s vs the sony a7 m4 or the R6? So we can better understand why you won't leave full frame 😅

    Nice review of a great camera! Fuji is definitely pushing apsc and medium format skipping FF all together. I found the depth of field difference between ff and apsc very minimal when shooting at the same crop focal lengths. The front lens element diameter effects the depth of field hence the Sigma bokeh master has a 105mm front element. Definitely one of the best apsc cameras out there today and great pics!! Gerald undone has a great vid on clearing up the depth of field myth.

    Perfect camera, apart from that damn rear LCD. I really don’t want to have to reach, pull out and twist every time I need the screen. Then I have to look to the left and leave it sticking out like a sore thumb.
    Fujifilm please don’t copy canon and just offer this awful screen, please give us a choice, as most filmmakers aren’t interested in just vlogging.
    The tilt screen is so much faster, convenient and unobtrusive. Thank you.

    • @ghas4151
      @ghas4151 ปีที่แล้ว

      ~90% from where A7IV and R6 are. Massive improvement over Fuji’s previous gen cameras.
      Theoretically, the X-H2s has better potential for AF tracking due to the faster readout of the stacked sensor so it’s up to Fuji to take advantage of this through FW updates.

  • @one901
    @one901 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I don’t think the cameras matter as much if you’re shooting raw and editing them. They can all look the same with editing.
    I think the real test of a camera is how it handles images straight out of camera. Otherwise, these camera “reviews” are just a show of editing.

    • @bobamarmstrong
      @bobamarmstrong ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly. That's why gear doesn't matter nowadays. All cameras since 2006-2007 can deliver excellent images. And after post-processing, you wouldn't tell if there is a difference betwern old and new cameras except only in resolution. What matters is good lenses

    • @GunslingerMediaCo
      @GunslingerMediaCo ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Kinda sorta. There will still be differences based on the color gamut of the file of the image. Editing can make up 70-80% of a final image, but the best photos are usually editing up only 20-30% of the photo, and the photographer knowing how to take advantage of the physical optics of his gear to get a good image in the first place. There are something’s you just can’t add or fix in post, and higher quality sensors and lenses give you even more to work with to edit. All of it matters, gear is very important.

    You can’t assign the dials to ISO which is a huge oversight imo. In an ecosystem that has aperture on most lenses, it makes no sense why you can’t assign a dial to ISO

    • @dimage1124

    • @itsaaronmiller
      @itsaaronmiller ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MitchLally my workaround has been to set both the up and down on the arrows as ISO. It seems to be the best workaround so far. Really hope it’s addressed in firmware though
