    Don Felder and Joe Walsh were meant to play together like this. This duel guitar solo is probably the best ever.

    Don Felder (double guitar) and Joe Walsh are two of the best rock guitarists in rock history. Randy Misner on the base is often overlooked but he is germane to the whole sound. Don Henley on drums and vocals and Glen Frye wrote the lyrics and Don Felder wrote the music. Glen Frye is the other vocalist. His song TAKE IT EASY (you really need to react to that) is the other anthem of the band. Their GREATEST HITS album is the best-selling album of all time outselling Michael Jackson's THRILLER several years back. SEVEN BRIDGES ROAD is almost the standard for a Cappella group of singers.

    • @mrmjb1960
      @mrmjb1960 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Take It Easy was co-written by Frey and Jackson Browne. Browne did his own version of it and both were issued on Asylum both hit #1!

    All those little lights are lighters people held up until their thumbs were thoroughly burned. We didn't have cellphones with flashlight apps back then. In concert or on an album the Eagles were one of the tightest bands I've ever heard. You can add Grand Funk drummer Don Brewer to the list of singing drummers too.

    This is one explanation of the song Hotel California.. This song is about the [Halfway House] or rehabilitation center of the rich and famous drug and alcohol abusers known as the [Hotel California]. The hotel is for the rich and famous drug and alcohol abusers. "And I was thinking to myself [this could be heaven or this could be hell]." This refers to what he will be subjecting himself to during the very painful withdrawal process. And the hours-long epileptic-like seizures his body will be going through to rid the body of its drugs and alcohol in his system. "Her mind was Tiffany twisted she got the Mercedes Benz. She has lots of pretty pretty boys she calls friends." Tiffany's is world-famous for its fine and very expensive jewelry. She is wealthy with very expensive taste in cars and jewelry. And her friends are actors, models and rich kids. "How they danced in the courtyard Sweet summer sweat. Some dance to remember Some dance to forget." This refers to the painful and gut-wrenching withdrawal process one must go through to rid themselves of the drugs and alcohol they have in their system. "So I called out the captain "please bring me my wine" we haven't had that spirit here since 1969." Refers to the Woodstock era of "Sex, Drugs and Rock & Roll." "And still those voices are calling from far away wake you up in the middle of the night just to hear them say... Welcome to the Hotel California what a lovely place what a lovely face. Plenty of room in the Hotel California. They living it at the hotel California what a nice surprise bring your alibis." In every halfway house or rehabilitation center. The staff along with past drug and alcohol abusers who are counselors and to are part of the staff...Always welcome you with open arms anytime day or night. "What a nice surprise bring your alibis." This refers to the many excuses the abusers will give to the staff. As to the many reasons why they became addicts. "Mirrors on the ceiling, pink champagne on ice. And she said we are all just prisoners here, of our own device, and in the master's chambers they gathered for their feast they stab it with their steely knives but they just can't kill the beast." Last thing I remember I was running for the door I had to find the passage back to the place I was before. Relax said the night man we are programmed to receive you can check out anytime you like but you can never leave!" Mirrors on the ceiling refers to the big room where all the addicts gather to receive their drug substitutes to ween them off of the hard drugs. Pink champagne on ice refers to the drug substitute 'Methadone" which is a liquid and is pink in color. The drug and alcohol addicts are prisoners of their own self-destruction. And they themselves are to blame for letting themselves become drug and alcohol abusers. The Beast is the "Drug and Alcohol Addiction" an addict will have to live with for the rest of their lives. The addict will never be rid of the addiction. It will be a constant battle for the rest of their lives to live drug and alcohol-free. You can check out anytime you like but you can never leave refers to "Once an addict always an addict!"

    GREATEST BAND EVER! You should watch anything you can find on them. Breaking the Band is a really good series on TV right now, and they made an episode on the Eagles. There have been a couple live concerts broadcast on TV you could look for. Many of their members had long and successful careers outside of this band. Don Henley (drummer), Glenn Frye (sunglasses on head-RIP), Joe Walsh (bandana on head-solo artist and member of the James Gang), Don Felder (plaid shirt) is a highly trained guitarist and still plays. There is some serious musical genius up on that stage.

  • @docbearmb
    @docbearmb 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    The reason the guitar is two-in-one is that he wants two completely different sounds and doesn't want to run around changing guitars. at the beginning you hear a high pitched ringy sound. that comes from the "top" guitar part. it's a twelve-stringed guitar. Most all electric guitars in rock are 6-stringed. But a 12 string gives the sound he wanted in the beginning verses. During the chorus, simply switches to the other neck. There you have it. BTW, Glenn Frye, the guy in the black t-shirt is playing a 12-string acoustic guitar. It also gives a ringy, chimey sound.
    One more thing: two other drummers who did a lot of lead singing: Roger Taylor of Queen and Levon Helm of The Band.

    Something to consider is every one of the band members were classically trained.

    I figure I'd better check this one out before YT blocks it. The Eagles are notorious for blocking reactions to their songs and it's a crying shame because they dropped a lot of classic songs - "Take It Easy", "Lyin' Eyes", "New Kid in Town" etc. etc. This song was inescapable in the late 70's. Everywhere you went where people were gathered together you would hear it playing somewhere nearby.

      Oh WOW... I forgot all about "Lyin' Eyes" and "New Kid In Town".... I don't know how!!!!! Thanks for mentioning those... :)

    You want to see another drummer sing a great song?
    Look up "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" , from The Band's live performance at The Last Waltz.
    Levon Helmes was the drummer, and did amazing vocals....

    Yo, you’re reaction was 🔥. This Live performance is the way EVERYONE should see The Eagles 🦅. They still sound this great 👍 today, too. But they’ll never be another GLENN Frey ( pronounced “FRY”. By the way, DON HENLEY is the singer, songwriter and Percussionist (Drummer) on the song. Mr. Don Felder on the double-neck/ 12 string guitar 🎸 and Mr. Joe Walsh on the single neck guitar 🎸, doing the song’s end heavy lifting. And Mr. Randy Meisner on Bass.

    If you can find it, please check out Take it to the Limit live from the 70's. It may be this same concert, not sure. Randy Meisner, the bass player sings it. He has the voice of an angel! It's such a great performance! ♡

      I agree here! That concert of Randy miser saying that take it to the limit was perfect also. It’s a great song to begin with, but to see him so happy every time he hit those high notes, I have read he had not a lot of confidence in his voice and every concert, it’s great to see! Beautiful song! Probably time with my favorite is this, take it to the limit and desperado, another Don Henley singing on the drums drums

      Take It to the Limit is my favorite Eagles song. Except for Already Gone and Hotel California, haha.

    An often overlooked album is “On The Border”. It was released before Hotel and is also great! Already Gone - James Dean - Midnight Flyer ( the great Randy Meisner on vocals ) - Best Of My Love - On The Border - A Good Day In Hell and every other song on the album! The Eagles are notorious for infighting and basically hated each other. They still won’t let Don Felder the guitarist who wrote the music to Hotel California back in the band. There was a documentary produced a few years ago about the Eagles that is a must see. Glen Frey and Don Felder almost came to blows - on stage!! I enjoy your reactions ... keep it up!

    Soon after this, Timothy B. Schmidt would arrive as the bass player, adding yet another excellent songwriter to the group. I don't think any other band had 4-5-6 repeatedly successful songwriters.

    Randy Meisner signaling to the monitor engineer stage right at 2:18 to crank something up in his mix. Maybe himself, Don's vocals, everything? Also might be saying: "That's good."

    Firstly, RIP to Glenn Frey. He's sadly missed. The Eagles are one of the best groups to come out of the 70s! Haze, I really recommend checking out Mr Joe Walsh,(the lead guitarist with the bandana on). His solo work is fire. "Life's been good to me" and"Rocky Mountain Way". Also, Don Henley, drummer. Solo work "Boys of Summer". Thanks
