The crowd was instructed to remain quiet for the recording. The BBC was very strict about that. I loved your giggle as he got higher and louder ! You just witnessed absolute epicness ❤
As a rocker in his 60's I grew up with bands like this from the 1970's No auto tune back then. Just Ian putting his finger in his ear to hit the correct pitch. Thanks for the memories. And welcome to my world.
Everytime I listen to this song, I am as awestruck as I was the first time I heard it...and that was a LONG LONG time ago. lol It is an incredible song.
Don't mistake the audience reaction, they aren't bored or indifferent, they know they're watching an epic masterpiece, they are transfixed and hypnotized and awe struck and watching respectfully what they came to watch... the consummate musicianship of a great band giving it their all
I always liked Deep Purple more than I did Led Zeppelin. Their talent was off the charts. Ritchie Blackmore is one of the most talented guitarists of all time.
@HazeBruv - The fact that the crowd is so unmovable can have some reasons. This was a special recording for TV, not a regular concert. The stage and seats are made of thin wood. I am sure that the audience here was asked to not make sound, as the studio sound equipment would pick that up. And this is just a TV audience, not Deep Purple fans. Just a band booked for that show, and putting down a performance for the ages. We saw a lot of artists in those days, both on TV and live. We got accustomed to a lot of stage antics (like Jimmy Hendrix and the Who), so we let it all sink in. And at the same time also aware that we were witnessing something new at every turn.
You are right...they told the Audienz to be silent for the recording...Remember it was 1970 and technology was not as today I had the chance 5o see them in Royal Albet Hall, it was different😂😂I am 74yrs now and still lidtening to Derp Purple, Led Zeppelin with the same passion
What a performance.....to be that lost in yourselves and still stop dead after utter controlled chaos in the middle when Blackmore was playing his solo is just awesome . You'll be hard pushed to ever hear a better all round performance than this. Gillans voice is jaw dropping
The reference topic, incredible. The public does not move because they are stunned by what they see, from the 70s and that masterpiece is not to be missed. Bravo
You are the first I've seen react to this song. I follow 4 other people that react to songs and have been waiting for someone to react to this song, but I never got to see that happen until today. I first heard Deep Purple more than 4o years ago but didn't discover this song for another 30 years or so when I bought one of their albums. Smoke on the Water is their song that got lots of radio play time. Perfect Strangers is really probably their best song. But this song, this is one of my favorite songs EVER. I find that most people don't seem to "get" this song. But those of us that do tend to really, really like it.
This was 1970, just 25 years after the war, no one had done anything like this. I'm sure the audience was stunned... as I was the first time I heard it. They knew they had just experienced greatness and were letting it sink in.
Back in the early 70s. Guinness Book of World Records using decibel readings from hundreds of Rock Concerts proved beyond any doubt that Deep Purple was the loudest band in the world by a substantial magnitude over the 2nd loudest The Who.
I saw them at an all day summer jam at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City along with Uriah Heep and Ted Nugent, etc. They had noise complaints from a mile away 😂😂😂☮️♥️😎
But only one Band, Rage against the Machine, can claim to have been officially registered as an earthquake during their "killing in the Name of" when 50,000 people simultaniously jumped at a live concert in the Netherlands. On another note, the loudest band in history was Desaster Area according to Douglas Adams. But this only counts when you consider life, the Universe and all of the rest :P
Back in the day the audience was told to keep quiet and stay in their seats. It must have been torture for the audience and It sucks but thats why you see this in older video performances. Deep Purple is 1/3 of the Holy Trinity of Rock Music. Keep rockin
I believe the crowd where told to not get up, and stay quiet. Only the brother to the side and a few others showed any emotion lol. Such a great band. Ian Gillen also did the original Jesus Christ superstar cast album...he is brilliant.
All I can say is times were nothing like today. Some of us thought we needed to keep a low profile. There were no cameras everywhere. Police were out to get anyone who was different. Guys with long hair, skin that was not white, dress different. You gotta know what I mean. We had so much extremely incredible music 🎶. The band Ten Years After- I'd Love to Change the World
I gotta listen to more Deep Purple, dang! The way they layer psychadelia-tinged rock over jazz structures really reminds me of the early work by the band "Spirit", not the biggest band ever but their first album from 1967 is one of my favs of all time, one of those albums where nothing sounds quite like it...songs like "Topanga Windows" "Mechanical World" and "Gramophone Man" are underrated classics IMO. Dig the variety on the channel Haze keep rockin'!
This was a T.V. program, not a concert. The audience were under strict conditions not to react due to recording sound effects. Am sure these people's heads were exploding nevertheless! Great reaction! 👍
There are iconic great bands but Deep Purple is The GOAT, nobody could performer like them in live! Then Ian Gillan vocalist left the band and was replaced by David Coverdale in 1974. I invited to you to react Mistreated live in California 1974 I enyojed your reaction to this Masterpiece! Love from Argentina 🇦🇷
This song is considered a hard rock classic anthem. This album was a game changer in hard rock. Check out the best jamming song on In Rock, Hard Lovin' Man. Awesome keyboard and guitar solos.
Be thankful we have such a pristine recording due to faculty demanding quiet in order to preserve what they deemed a historic time for music, the University was right , thanks otherwise the kids would’ve crazed out and ruined the gloriously clean audio.
Haze, you have me listening to all types of music I probably would have never heard before so thank you! Also you should do a Q&A video..I'm sure I'm not your only fan who wants to know more about you! 😊💙
Haze hun thanks for reacting to my 2nd all time favourite group. More bangers; Burn, live in California 1974, the video with the rainbow in the background. Also, Smoke on the water, which is one of the most recognisable riffs ever! Burn has a different lead singer as Ian Gillan had left for a few years.
Thanks to you tube young black Americans are discovering classic bands like led Zep pink Floyd and deep purple good music is colorblind you just have to be human to appreciate it
If I'm not mistaken. DP just put out a new album. Really liked the last one. That's right they're hoping to be on tour in 2022. Ian Gillan the lead singer will be 78. All the power to him.
I don't think the crowd was expecting this. This may have been performed before the album was released. People knew the original line up and the group and orchestra concert.
In them days (60s and 70s), the audience in public television was told to behave disciplined, during live performance- this one was recorded on german TV in 1970-so ,you younger people don`t know about that ,so don`t blame the people--different times, different behaviour...
Knew this reaction was gonna be great! Yeah man, that audience was a television audience in Germany I believe. They were probably told to just sit there and not disrupt things in any way. I know, it's hard to believe anyone could just SIT THERE through this incredible performance.
I don't know where you went but I wish you'd come back. You're my favorite song reaction channel. Your vibe and energy are infectious. Anytime I'm in a bad mood I come to this channel and any of your videos can bring me up
I’ve been to concerts back then where people were almost like embarrassed to move it was all very new at the time . Believe me after Woodstock everything changed and everyone went crazy at all concerts from then on.
It was filmed for a tv audiance. They may have been asked to keep calm during the performance. Plus probly almost none of them were DP fans or even heard of them.
It was 1970 I guarantee the crowd was in shock wondering wtf are we listening too. Not realizing they just witnessed one of the greatest live performances ever from a legendary band
PLEASE REACT TO THE BEAUTIFUL DAVINA MICHELLE! ANY COVER OR ORIGINAL... THAT'S HOW GREAT HER AND HER VOICE IS.. SHE IS ALONE ON A WHOLE OTHER LEVEL......
Mournful song inspired by the Vietnam war. Smoke On The Water, Fireball, Space Truckin, Fools, No One Came, Speed King, Woman From Tokyo, Hard Lovin Man, Burn, Stormbringer, Black Night, Lazy are all🔥🔥🔥. This is a TV show and the audience was told to remain seated.
No, fué por la guerra fría. Aunque, es tan atemporal, que se puede aplicar a cualquier guerra, en cualquier lugar del mundo y en cualquier época. Grande DEEP PURPLE!! 💜💜💜💜💜
Everyone was pretty humble and STUNNED back then.
Amazing time for music
The crowd was instructed to remain quiet for the recording. The BBC was very strict about that. I loved your giggle as he got higher and louder ! You just witnessed absolute epicness ❤
Yep, that crowd were witnessing greatness and legends at work. 5 musicians at the top of their game
Believe it man Deep Purple were and are the real deal, in fact this song broke my pop puberty... Thankyou DP may u continue on forever!!
Child in time is an example of their individual talents band congruence and perfect timing.
The best hard rock band of all time
As a rocker in his 60's I grew up with bands like this from the 1970's
No auto tune back then. Just Ian putting his finger in his ear to hit the correct pitch.
Thanks for the memories. And welcome to my world.
Everytime I listen to this song, I am as awestruck as I was the first time I heard it...and that was a LONG LONG time ago. lol It is an incredible song.
Love your lively reaction to this masterpiece ! 👍
This was the 70s brother the best music to ever grace this planet So much was out there
Don't mistake the audience reaction, they aren't bored or indifferent, they know they're watching an epic masterpiece, they are transfixed and hypnotized and awe struck and watching respectfully what they came to watch... the consummate musicianship of a great band giving it their all
You have to have a masterpiece of vocal talent to be the highlight of this track with all that stupendous instrumental work
This is why this is my favorite song Ian’s vocals and the whole band going off I love it
I always liked Deep Purple more than I did Led Zeppelin. Their talent was off the charts. Ritchie Blackmore is one of the most talented guitarists of all time.
So true. Purple was MUCH better than Zeppelin.
@HazeBruv - The fact that the crowd is so unmovable can have some reasons. This was a special recording for TV, not a regular concert. The stage and seats are made of thin wood. There was a time in the early to mid seventies when teenage prog rock fans didn't stand and jive but sat and payed attention.
Yeah some of the mums and small kids looked in shock haha.
Yeah, looks like for a TV show, so the audience was probably told to "sit down and shut up" lol. 😄
You are right...they told the Audienz to be silent for the recording...Remember it was 1970 and technology was not as today I had the chance 5o see them in Royal Albet Hall, it was different😂😂I am 74yrs now and still lidtening to Derp Purple, Led Zeppelin with the same passion

Deep purple players is genius
So we both reacted for the first time! never heard this before. Amazing how the fans in the stands just... listened in awe!
Welcome to Deep Purple!
@@eviekelpie1 Thanks! Gotta freely admit I only knew Smoke On The Water from back in the day!
This was 1970 guy, they could do it back then, The music industry today, kills music, great vid : )
I've seen deep purple live three times and they still rocking like hell

The reference topic, incredible. The public does not move because they are stunned by what they see, from the 70s and that masterpiece is not to be missed. Bravo
Perfect Reaction to a Perfect Song! 😁

Immortal song Immortal music
Lazy and Burn are two great songs from DP. Definitely worth reacting to. You’ll love them.
More Deep Purple “Lazy”, “Burn”, “Smoke on the Water” or “ Space Truckin”. Thanks for your reactions.
It's not that these people weren't feeling the music, they signed a paper that said they would sit still during the taping
Jon Lord, master of the Hammond B3 organ.
I dig you HazeBruv! Love your channel and I share with many of my friends! Keep rocking man!
This was 1970, just 25 years after the war, no one had done anything like this. I'm sure the audience was stunned... as I was the first time I heard it. They knew they had just experienced greatness and were letting it sink in.
the crowd just came back from a 25 miles hike and all there legs were cramping
Great music and sounds very good on stage live great the video sounds great
Studio audiences alot of times back in the day were basically told to sit and fold hands. Hard to do when you have this band playing before you live.
Back in the early 70s. Guinness Book of World Records using decibel readings from hundreds of Rock Concerts proved beyond any doubt that Deep Purple was the loudest band in the world by a substantial magnitude over the 2nd loudest The Who.

TV show. Crowd was told to behave.

Ian Gillan the lead singer will be 78. All the power to him.

The singer Ian Gillian played Jesus in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s original London production of Jesus Christ Superstar.
