    WHAT IS TALK HEATHEN?
Talk Heathen is a weekly call-in television show in Austin, Texas geared toward long-form and on-going dialogue with theists & atheists about religion, theism, & secularism. Talk Heathen is produced by the Atheist Community of Austin.
Talk Heathen is filmed in front of a live studio audience every week at the Freethought Library of the Atheist Community of Austin.
The Atheist Community of Austin is organized as a nonprofit educational corporation to develop & support the atheist community, to provide opportunities for socializing & friendship, to promote secular viewpoints, to encourage positive atheist culture, to defend the first amendment principle of government-religion separation, to oppose discrimination against atheists & to work with other organizations in pursuit of common goals.
We define atheism as the lack of belief in gods. This definition also encompasses what most people call agnosticism.

Tbf, passion can be misconstrued as “losing one’s mind.” Like when I get passionate I get louder, but that’s mainly cause I was raised by half-deaf people, so my natural voice is loud, and I have to consciously suppress it, which becomes harder when I become passionate. Similarly, I also speak pretty fast naturally, but suppress it consciously, so when I become passionate I become louder plus talk fast. This is commonly assumed to be me getting mad or upset, when it’s far from the truth, typically. Just keep things like this in mind, because it can lead to a pretty negative bias to form, which I’ve experienced personally.

    Caller: :has literal existential crisis:
He knows EXACTLY where that line of reasoning leads. And it's easier for him to be obstinate and difficult because it delays him from accepting the OBVIOUS elephant in the room. That is, if you don't know a thing, you are allowed to not have an answer. But that terrifies some people so "god" is the placeholder answer to soothe their unease. My favorite quote is from Don on this show where he says "god is the sum total of our ignorance". That is the utility of god for this caller. To help him sleep better at night knowing he plugged in an answer even if it's wrong.

    I axed (asked) you a question…
If I axe a tree to the ground, would it make sense to say that I ask that tree, instead?
If I sound bigoted, I apologize! Whether or not you see me as bigoted, I see ‘at ‘ar as humorous!😃
And I absolutely love Rices’ dialogue in ‘Uncle Toms’ Cabin’!!🥰
