Thank you so very much Rabbi. What a light and a blessing you are in this world. My parents have celebrated 72 years of marriage together. I have never heard my father say one negative thing about my mother or my mother say one negative thing about my father. They are Beautiful to watch together. They set a wonderful example. Again how timely it was to see this. They oh 94 years of age. My father is my mothers first and only boyfriend. This brings tears to my eyes to hear you speak.

“Contentment is a dead end.” Amen. Every time I try to explain to my friends that I don’t want to be happy, I want to be fulfilled, they don’t get it. Endless striving is the gateway to humility. I think many people are afraid of humility, of being something more than they are. If a man doesn’t want children… run in the other direction.

@@ThePinkPantha21if you believe in the climate crisis, what do you plan to tell your children when they ask you: why did you have me when you already knew that the planet was in peril and I was going to deal with the damage you and previous generations caused? If you tell them: I wanted to be more. I wanted a family. I wanted to be fulfilled - those are all selfish reasons trying to fulfill your own desires without thinking of the child. There is no selfless reason for having a children unless you are adopting a child to take them out of a bad situation. Every reason for having biological children is a reason to fulfill the parent's own desire and that is selfish.

    • @Jeje-x5b
      @Jeje-x5b 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

@@afriendabroad2083why? Just to indulge your belief of planet in peril. If I did I would say I wanted them to have a chance to enjoy the beauty of life just as I had. It’s not always beautiful but it’s worth it. There is always a peril going on in the world does that stop people from looking at the bright side and enjoying it as much as they can coz that’s all there is and can be. You seem to suggest that because there might be an impending problem so don’t have any optimism, don’t do any good thing for yourself. If so, I’d say hypocrite because if you really believe that then you wouldn’t still be alive G-d forbid or still would be using electricity or gas or phones that are manufactured and heavy machines that manufacture products to make lives easier for millions. Plus who are you to deny a life or think that child will think like you and be pessimistic and about it what if they ask you why you never thought they would instead appreciate the little life, company and joy of being with you?
And adopting is a good thing but by no means does it make having your own children a bad thing. I’d say it’s arrogant of you to think someone controls the birth of a child. The process that leads to it yea but the result? Only people who have tried can tell you. Not to be rude here or anything l, I excuse myself before asking this but genuinely curious if you hate humanity and think no new life should have a chance to experience life here after you yourself were given a chance to be here and decide for yourself if it’s good or bad . Why are you still alive?and haven’t….

I’ve had two marriages that failed and I’ve taken responsibility for my part in that. I now have my inner wholeness. But of course being alone is not for me.
Lack of wisdom and brainwashed by the culture in my first marriage
very young. For security in my second marriage.
Now I’m wondering if it’s too late to marry again, a soulmate as defined by this rabbi in another video. I am not Jewish and this topic is not just for jews. I simply recognise the wisdom here which deeply reached my soul. It’s a universal, non-religious message to me. It’s a spiritual message.
Marriage is a high calling especially in these times of chaos and degeneration/devolution.
A man wants to become more. That’s a real man.
This rabbi is wise, but you don’t have to be a rabbi to be wise. His talk on soulmates getting married was another talk that touched me deeply.
I’m 70 and have wisdom from experience. I want to feel Home (make a real home) at last but of course not to create children. I’ve done that and they suffered and they recreate what I learned from my parents, and from me. Separation patterns. Lack of intimacy. But I believe they chose me as I did my parents. I know this to be true for me.
I create a real home with a new soulmate. My intention. I am young at heart. Open and vulnerable.
    😅
I have always wanted a husband and to be married but didn’t know what that really is until now. I am traditional in my soul., and at last I know this is my purpose, and a noble one at that.🎉

My husband has been breaking my heart for years now with talk about him needing space and alone time. We have 3 young children. He says that being with us constantly causes him to feel depressed and like he's worthless. I dont know what to do any more, i have no one to turn to, no one to talk to about this to get advice. I try to help my husband by telling him he should go spend time alone but he comes back with saying he cant relax or feel alone when hes just in the other room while myself and the children are in another room. We're trying our best to work this out but this problem keeps coming up, im doing what i have to do by taking care if my 3 year old and 1 year old twins and it feels like im doing it all alone.

Talking to my brother yesterday- who's been married for many years and has two grown daughters, he told me the exact thing- as a bachelor in my late fifties, i was told there's experiences that i cannot comprehend unless I've lived through them. Fair enough. . 😀

Hey Rabbi Friedman, me and my wife have been married for 13 years but i feel she lost all respect for me and i have done that too for her. She doesn't see me as the man she fell in love with but rather as a person providing for the family and a good father but that is it. She is intimate with me a few times per year and I resent that. As a man i need to be intimate with my wife more often, but i dont want to force her to be intimate with me if she doesn't desire it. Is there a way back from this if this has already happened? Do i need to better myself, get stronger, better in every way so that i can be of higher worth to her or all is lost and i just need to look for someone else?

You could have named this video,”How to make the best of a difficult situation”. I think that wherever you encounter difficulties in any kind of relationship,it’s showing you where you have a lack of self acceptance. The reason we’re not living in Eden is because we’re keeping parts of ourselves outside of our loving acceptance. Eden is a state of unconditional acceptance of all of oneself.

Seems like these days - the concept of Marriage is increasingly intimidating... Perhaps being scared is healthy. It's a humbling sacrifice that requires more of you. It will place you in a state of dependence and you'll definitely need to partner with the one who created it (God). As the man of the home (The example of Christ) so many will grow to rely on you for many things - Guidance, Love, Wisdom, Money (extremely problematic FYI), Security. I imagine it gets overwhelming and this is why I also believe we will have to be more. I'm certain if Men take on the full responsibility of creating and leading a family, they will be stretched for the ones that need them. There is much to be appreciated in the stretching.

I know your comment is from 2 years ago but it’s has much wisdom. Like theres going to be a lot of work… but one day you’ll look back when those kids are out of the house and there’s grandkids coming in & you’ll be at rest. Continuing a lineage requires much sacrifice. Your comment also makes me think why it’s important for woman’s submission as the man is taking on a lot. Even women being the primary caretakers of children with the late nights attending to babies, organising lunches, getting the children ready… eventually it will end and you’ve grown in wisdom and passing to the new mothers ect. You’ll look at the person you stuck by through it all and grew more in love with (if you put in the effort & your marriage first) and just be grateful to God for bringing you through. Gods gifts are beautiful.

If I go by this logic, I could just marry any “old hat”. I think I’m quite a good looking guy, I’m respectful, confident (most of the time) and even funny when I’m in a relaxed state of mind. I have a job I quite like (pay could be better), but have been single for years. I do get many opportunities with women, but I’m not into them and then the ones that I am into either I’m too shy to approach or if I happen to somehow meet someone that I do like, either they’re not interested because I’m too nervous and of course those ones have a ton of more options too. I’m 38 years old and just feel like I’m kind of stagnant in my life right now, I tell myself that it doesn’t matter anymore, that I’ll be dead soon anyway…but truth I might have 40 or more years left…I think is the solution for this, but according to the Rabbi, maybe I shouldn’t look it that way…

Men dont realise but when a women loves you you're first in command you're the CEO.. most women probably wouldnt tell you that but it's true and thats why you can hurt us so much... 💜

I don’t agree at all. “To become something more”, or to have something more, is being never satisfied, is craving, is ego-driven, is ungrateful, is worldly. “Smug Contentment”? What does that even mean? Contentment is peace, is gratitude, is fulfillment, is of the kingdom of Heaven. Eve disobeyed and partook of the fruit because she wanted what she didn’t have. If she had been content, suffering and death wouldn’t have entered into our existence.

the reason for marriage for men is to have kids. men can have kids without marriage, but women should not be pregnant and have kids without funds and security. Therefore, women need legal contract against men. ofc women can get child support from men and security from govnt/police, right? no, not enough. living with men is much better for women, financially and for immediate protection.

Why do men die before their wives?
    Because they want to.
Why do married men live longer than single men?
The don't, it just seems that way.
What is the role of a woman in a man's life?
When he realizes that one day he's going to die she's there to make him realize he might be better off.

The reason why men don't want to get married anymore os because women decided to tolerate the situation of living together unmarried with no commitment. So it is really women's fault

Everything revolves around money , a successful career , this is what a successful man is for the vast majority of women I am done with it ...since the God of money is Baal...I d rather be a looser in a world full of injustice and no it's ok to be just ME when everything is falling apart and things are meaningless...give up

Why do old men give advice to young men without realizing how much things have changed, with vacuous metaphors no less, and pass it off as wisdom?

    • @porcudracului
      @porcudracului 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

Maybe you have a blindspot. Someone wiser and more detached can see things from a different perspective, and conclude that only the distractions changed, nothing fundamental did. That's a why. There's others. If you don't understand the advice, you might not be ready to see it, doesn't mean the advice is not good for you.

Don't like the way you say what's natural for me. Say what you feel for yourself, don't assume for others, it lacks humility which is the greatest human trait. When I strove for more I became unhealthy and miserable. Now I'm happy being a content human, my health has recovered and I can contribute to others. Call me sub human all you like.
