  • In this last vlog from our trip, Blair and I cut our time at Punda Maria short due to heavy rains and head to Olifants Rest Camp further south. We have an incredible few days and saw some great sightings, including lion, hyena and black-backed jackal.

    Sorry to say my comments are infrequent. However I feel I must tell you after four or five years following you I can only say your videos have steadily improved in content, editing and frankly, letting your delightful personality shine through. You have a captivating presence on camera, a presence that deserves much more sponsored attention. I so hope you continue to prosper and post. I for one will be a loyal viewer (from the Washington, DC area). All the very best to you.

    I have made two visits to Kruger, each for several days. You are right, there is no place like it on earth and coming from New Zealand I am astonished by the Kruger. The incredible foresight of Paul Kruger to set this vast land area aside just for the wildlife (and a few people visiting) has resulted in a park of global importance and significance. Everyone should experience it at least once in their lifetime.

    Hi Nichole, thanks for the great content. I haven't been to the Kruger in many years, and your vlogs took me back there. It brought back many awesome and happy childhood memories spent in the park with my grand parents, aunts and uncles and extended family. I watched the vlogs non-stop. Feeling quite nostalgic right now, but in a good way. Your choice in music is also on point. Thanks for taking me along for the ride on TH-cam.

    A brilliant vlog and the animals beautiful , the majestic elephants , the graceful giraffes , the frightened male lions, oh what bliss such a glorious country you live in. Brings back memories of my trip to South Africa in April 2000 , stayed two nights in Cape Town and the flew to J’Burg then drown the long distance to Ulasaba game reserve just before it was bought by Sir Richard Branson, the trip I reminisce every year,thank you and waiting till your next bush visit. Marvelous images; wild animals, magical skies, gorgeous birds, flora, light, audio... everything touch the senses. We are "in" besides both of" you. How I understand your feeling when you had to quit such a special place. I've only had one opportunity in my life to go in Africa, it was not South Africa but Kenya (Masai Mara) but I remember that from my first breath and my first step out of the plane I instantly fell in love with this continent; smell of the air, atmosphere, colours of the light ... and then with nature. When I had to come back in Belgium I was so deeply sad, downright depressed during several weeks! I still remember and still dream to visit other african countries and national parks. I do it by proxy thanks to your vlogs.Thank you for such a quality content. As I wrote recently you Nicole deserve to be followed by many more subs and to be more sustained by brands. and sponsors. Maybe I am wrong but I can't prevent from wondering if it would not be the case with such a content if you were a man ?🤔🤷‍♀️I hope I am wrong, in any case go on!.😉

    • @NicoleEddy1
      @NicoleEddy1  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Masai Mara is also something truly spectacular - I would love to go back and experience it again. Did you go during the Wildebeest Migration? There's a saying that goes 'I envy the man who has not yet been to Africa, for he/she has so much to look forward to' and it couldn't be more true. I would love to fall in love with it all over again and experience it for the first time :)
      I appreciate your lovely comment and kind words, thankfully Squarespace has been a fantastic long-term partner with sponsoring my videos which has really helped, and before COVID I was lucky enough to have a few travel campaigns lined up which will hopefully return when international travel is a allowed. So I can't complain too much with regards to sponsorship opportunities. My other concern is not wanting to saturate my platform with sponsored content all the time, so I do turn down a fair amount of opportunities with random companies that don't quite fit in with my personal and brand ethos. But I really appreciate your kindness and so happy that you're enjoying the vlogs :) Take care!

    • @NicoleEddy1
      @NicoleEddy1  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We thought the same when we entered but actually found ourselves thinking that Olifants & Shingwedzi were two of the most well-kept and looked after camps. To be fair, they had received over 200mm of rain within the previous couple of days before we got there, and that grass grows like wild fire, so hopefully cut it shortly thereafter.
      But many of the Kruger camps need a bit of TLC unfortunately, the gardens, the overall maintenance, the camping facilities etc.

    Thanks Nic - yet again ! What controls where you can get out of the vehicle ie is it about safety - or limiting human impact?

    • @NicoleEddy1
      @NicoleEddy1  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Mark :) It will typically be places of historical interest, high bridges or a couple of view points which tend to be relatively close to a rest camp. I think it's more about human safety and limiting any chance of danger or interaction with wild animals in these areas that are deemed 'safe' to get out.

    Hi,
    How does this work, can you drive your own car in the park or are there just guided tours ?

      Hi Chris, most people self-drive within the Kruger National Park to get from camp to camp (as the distances can be long) however you can get guided tours into the park with companies.
      In most private reserves surrounding the outside of the Kruger National Park (they make up an area called the Greater Kruger National Park), one cannot self-drive and guided game drives are therefore included as a part of your stay at all lodges in these reserves. I hope that all makes sense :)

      Hey, no it's not mandatory in the Kruger as the speed limit is 40km/hr & we are constantly stopping the vehicle for filming and spotting etc.
