What a legend, grew up watching Red Green on CBC, probably the best show 90s Canadian television had to offer. It was bleak back then with only 3 channels on the rabbit ears lol
Watching the Junkyard Digs crew breathe new life into the Possum Van is like watching MacGyver if he had a few more wrenches and a lot more duct tape! Y’all took a relic that looked like it came straight from The Red Green Show’s retirement home and turned it into a road-ready beast to meet the Possum Lodge on the road at Canadianafest-absolute legends! If it ain't broke, don't fix it-but if it's a Possum Van, give it the JYD treatment!!
As a Canadian who grew up with the Smith and Smith comedy hour and then Red Green, I really appreciated the effort you put into all the wipes and other effects paying homage to the show.
I saw Possum Van on the thumbnail and instantly clicked it. That was really awesome. Bizarrely, I first came across the Red Green Show back when I as a kid when it was being aired on the PBS station in Columbia, SC of all places, and I've been a fan ever since.
That’s the power of the Possum Van-it’s got instant click appeal! And discovering Red Green on PBS in Columbia, SC? That’s a true testament to the Lodge’s reach. Once you’re hooked on duct tape wisdom and handyman hijinks, there’s no going back! Glad you’ve been part of the fun ever since.

Steve smith came to my town years ago to do a stand up, and I am so glad I went. The red green show was a huge part of my childhood. And I am in in the same boat. Nobody I know has ever even heard of the show
I went to a Red Green taping in 2001 (I was 16… incidentally it was the weekend after 9/11), the episode with skateboards with chainsaw motors mounted to them. They did a pop quiz, whoever got the question right won a prop from the show (in this case it was a card for a free shoe shine). The question was “what is the year, make a model of the Possum Van?” I was the ONLY person in the auditorium to raise their hand, and of course I got the answer right. Red seemed really intrigued how a 16 year old kid knew that.
That's a legendary Possum Lodge moment right there! Nailing the year, make, and model of the Possum Van at 16? You were clearly born for the Lodge life. Red must've been impressed-probably thought he had a future Handyman Corner host on his hands. And hey, who needs a shiny shoe when you've got a mind like that, right?!

My dad always drove these dodge vans when I was a kid. The first vehicle I ever drove was a 1986 Dodge ram 12 passenger van with the 360 cubic inch engine and a 4 barrel carb. I loved that van so much!!
@hendo337 yup sure was. Damm, thing hated starting up and staying running in these cold Candian winters. The choke didn't work worth a crap. My job in the mornings was to go start the van before my dad left for work and warm it up. I had to pump the gas pedal 3 times and then turn it over. Once it started, I had to keep my foot lightly on the gas to keep the revs up for about 5 minutes until it warmed up enough to idle on its own. Lol. Typing this reply really brought me back, haha. I was like 12 to 14 or so at this time, so that was the closest I would get to drive until I got my license, haha
I was lucky enough to be part of the studio audience during an episode of Red Green, it was such a cool experience! I think it’s part of what inspired me to get into the media industry. In case you’re wondering, it was the episode where they talk about turning a hotel into a cruise ship by floating it on its roof.
Old neighbor was an SR-71 pilot...but then again, my dad was a pilot, twice over vet. Grew up with some awesome guys, but you wouldn't know it initially because the truly bd-ass guys never puffed themselves up. BTW, we lost two SR-71's in development because the air was traveling so fast the fuel wasn't totally burning. It would start collecting then ignite, leading to an uncontrollable yaw. An aerodynamicist (John Vachal- retired out from Boeing) is the man who discovered this- and I knew him & his wife when they lived in Medina, WA.
@@JunkyardDigs I scan through. John Vachal was a helluva guy. Brilliant, but humble & friendly. I've been very fortunate to meet some absolutely unsung heroes this far into my life; (Col) Russell Temperly, I introduced to (Col) Daniel Bigelow. Also, two guys that were fantastic
Congrats on the wedding, I also grew up watching Red Green, it was kind of required viewing for people in Ontario, Canada. Though, I also thought The VAN 2.0, given the infamy of the previous video and van, then the paintjob dawned on me, in the instagram post, lol.

Living in rural southern Ontario most my life and all my childhood one of the few things we could consistently watch on the ol' C-band satellite would be airing Red Green one time or another. Love to see this.
1:59 Had the 12 passenger version of this van - 1980. Torque converter had a crack in it and we didn't know. The man who bought it found it. It was a good van. But it had a wimpy 318 so when it was full of people it wasn't quick... 33:51 Don't go aviation unless you like puking.. ThoseCH47s are pretty wobbly. CH53s are worse, though.
Used to watch Steve Smith and his wife performe on Canadian TV in a sketch show called Smith and Smith. Years later, my father took me to see his one man live Red Green show at a theatre in Ottawa Ontario. He is an absolutely wonderful individual. Appears quite humble. We talked about the Smith and Smith show, he appreciated that I had followed his brand of comedy for that long. That was the last show my father and I went to before his passing. Red Green, (Steve Smith,) gave me the gift of hearing Dad let out some genuine belly laughs. Hold that memory very close to my heart
What an incredible memory to share. Steve Smith has a special way of connecting with fans, and it's amazing to hear how much his humor brought joy to you and your dad. Those belly laughs are priceless, and it’s beautiful that Red Green gave you that gift to hold onto. Thanks for being a longtime fan and for carrying those moments so close to your heart, KYSOTI

I did get to go to the This is it final tour, and got to met Red. Quite possibly the greatest T.V. show ever.
Well done Kevin and crew. This made my Canadian heart happy. I grew up watching Red with my dad and brothers, and was privileged enough to take them to a live stage show he did years ago. Growing up in rural Canada, we all could relate to what was on screen for once. And as always, thank you for your service, Kevin. I'm pulling for ya, we're all in this together.
When I went to the Snap On diagnostics classes the teacher played a video compilation on the projector before the classes started and a couple Handyman Corner segments played. That was my first introduction to Red Green and I became an instant fan.

Without doubt the BEST JYD video ever! This writer does know and enjoy the Red Green Show'. After all, much of my state, Maine, WAS part of Canada, till circa the Aroostook Wars. And the tour of the A/C museum was FIRST RATE! I even saw the Marine painted L-19/O1G.O1E BirdDog hung from a rafter, right at the scene of the 60 rocket motor. That was this writers A/C for 18 months during the Viet Nam War. The visit to the base and the 'fling wing' A/C was a treat as well. Ahh, the days of my long lost youth! Thank you for a fine video

The Red Green show was goofy good fun. Watched it for years. Still watch reruns on the inter-web.
I was lucky enough to be part of the studio audience during an episode of Red Green, it was such a cool experience! I think it’s part of what inspired me to get into the media industry. In case you’re wondering, it was the episode where they talk about turning a hotel into a cruise ship by floating it on its roof.
Absolutely your BEST EPISODE EVER! The van turned out great, and the interview with Rick Green was amazing!!! Great job!!
How the hell are you possibly that far into the video 😂
@@JunkyardDigs I scan through. John Vachal was a helluva guy. Brilliant, but humble & friendly. I've been very fortunate to meet some absolutely unsung heroes this far into my life; (Col) Russell Temperly, I introduced to (Col) Daniel Bigelow. Also, two guys that were fantastic
Thats awesome! @@olikat8
I am too@@JunkyardDigs
My favorite Uncle Red project on Handyman Corner was the One Horse Open K.
Mine was probably the tank tracks lol
Was stoked you got to meet Rick. I spent many a night watching his sci-fi show Prisoners Of Gravity back in the day.
Definitely one of the top episodes of junkyard digs
From Kentucky, Grew up with Red Green, love that man.
Congrats on the wedding, I also grew up watching Red Green, it was kind of required viewing for people in Ontario, Canada. Though, I also thought The VAN 2.0, given the infamy of the previous video and van, then the paintjob dawned on me, in the instagram post, lol.
42 here, also grew up with Red Green back home in Michigan. I'm having some hard nostalgia right now bud, thanks for this episode!
my sister is currently a chinook mechanic for the army, and everything you said she agrees with. man I loved watching the redgreen growing up, you are so blessed.
Greetings from Canada!🇨🇦
Red Green is hilarious 😆
So cool that the show caught on South of the 49th 👍🏻
Awesome as always! Loved the Red Green Show growing up as well. Super cool to recreate the van! Congrats on the wedding!
I love watching the red green show I started to watch them in the 90’s when I was stationed at New Port RI in the Navy. It was my highlight to watch every Saturday night. Well done Kevin and the whole crew up there at Junk Yard Digs. Keep up the great work and stay safe out there.
Congratulations on your wedding!
When the windshield wipers broke, I figured for sure it would have been opossumable to see 😂. Thanks for another great video!😎🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
🤦🤣
Climax is literally 15 mins from my home town.. 🤯 I got excited the first part of the video when you said the festival was four days away, thought I had an opportunity to meet you guys!!
This is the dream crossover video I never knew I wanted but absolutely loved watching!
I'm from Kentucky and I remember the Red Green show! So its not just the far north at least! Great Episode!
I officially have a favourite episode of J.Y.D. now. As a Canadian I grew up with The Red Green Show. So many things from it I still say. Also I’m jealous. I always wanted a possum van of my own. I did get to go to the This is it final tour, and got to met Red. Quite possibly the greatest T.V. show ever.
33:06 "Much worse, the Army." spoken like a true past service member
You know it’s a great day when Kevin and Angus upload a funny video while teaching us things.
I absolutely loved listening to his stories. I could definitely listen to all his stories about behind the scenes
Keep Your Stick on the Ice !!
Man, you guys were all of a half hour away from me! So cool to have you here! Hope my state treated you well. Love the old Red Green memories!
Congrats on your wedding too, Kevin! (From another Kevin) Keep yer stick on the ice!
Without doubt the BEST JYD video ever! This writer does know and enjoy the
Red Green Show'.
Thanks you for your service from a USAF AWACs radar tech there in '66.
Dude. About damn time someone did a red green tribute. Well done my man. Cheers neighbor, from SW Iowa.
I'm in albia right now. The tabletop jump they used as a bridge on 655th st is crazy as hell, couldn't believe it
@@greenbassboosts8872 Hello neighbor! Im about 2 1!2hrs east of ya, 15mi so of Atlantic. In Grant Iowa.
Congratulations on your wedding ,,you just love our HEAVY SALTED roads in the winter,I'm from center point Iowa
Growing up north of Seattle I watched the Red Green show when ever I could. He still is funny as hell.
Your wife?!? Hell yeah, dude! Wish the two of you the best. The tiny bits of your lives you shared with TH-cam make it seem like you two are going to have an awesome life together filled with a lot of smiles and laughs.
I love the Red Green Show!!!!!
It's so cool that you built a Possom Van!!!
The transition graphics and sound effects took me back to the show.
I loved the outro
What a great video!!!!
Really enjoyed that episode Kevin and Angus!
Keep it up!
As a Canadian, and one who also grew up on Red Green, I APPROVE THIS MESSAGE!!!! Wooohooo!
Keep your Stick on The Ice !!
Great video! Loved watching Red-Green as a kid too.
Absolutely love the scene transitions - as was done on the R-G show. Please continue to use these wipes in your future videos. They are great!!!
Loved every bit of this. I remembering stumbling upon the RedGreen show..maybe in my early teens and just was hooked. Absolutely loved that show.
Thanks for sticking with us like duct tape! We're still going strong with our newest release - Red Green More Animated, head over to Possum Lodge to check it out, eh?!
I'm a good southern boy and love Red Green.
0:10 watched so far, i want such car
She looks like she could be a Canadian rig aaaaa?
Congratulations on your marriage to angus 🎉🎉❤
I LOVE Red Green... I grew up on the south side of lake ontario, straight across from toronto. " If you cant be handsome, be handy!" Dont forget to get a Tim Hortons!
As a lifelong Tennessean, I ended up discovering Red Green via TH-cam around 15 years ago and have been a huge fan ever since. I may have been late to the game, but I still have just as much appreciation and nostalgia for the show. The transitions used in this episode were pure perfection. It's too bad you couldn't meet up with Steve, it would have been fun to hear his take on it after having driven the original so much. Rick was great with his own insight from production of the show though!
LETS GOOOO. Also Happy Wedding Keving and Mook!
one of the Canadian legends in a junkyard digs vid hot damn wonder if it will be held together with duct tape
As a resident of Illinois, I sincerely apologize for the time you had to spend there.
harold was my favorite. i always thought uncle red was my uncle when i was very young. love this!!!
I'm from VA. Grew up watching red green on PBS with my dad. Was a riot! Introduced my Canadian mother to the show and she loved it.
What an awesome adventure! It was so cool meeting you guys at canadiana fest! Side note, i used to work at that Oreillys at the 56:00 mark lol and congratulations to you and mook on your wedding!!
As someone watching this from the city they filmed the show in, wasn't expecting to see this crossover but I loved it. Great work on the transitions!
Canadian here, as someone who grew up watching the red green show, this episode really hit home, drove across the northern states this summer to BC, might I say the steaks are mouth watering in Montana! the car museums are great
that van is a great gift for a newly wed especially for you and angus
I'm in upstate NY but we got CBC over the air. Every week my dad and I would watch the Red Green Show. Great memories. He's gone now, but he would have loved watching this!
On a side note, always loved the B series vans. Not a mopar guy but these vans are the exception.
Absolutely my all time favorite episode of yours! As a Canuck who grew up on The Red Green show, you nailed the cutaways and did a great job capturing the humor and quirks that made this Canadian classic a fan favorite for generations.
Great work guys and keep it up eh.
You and Angus are gold together.
This is a crossover I never expected I’d see in my life. When I was growing up The red green show wasn’t being produced anymore so all I could watch was re runs at 6am before school. I loved that show so much and the fact that my favourite TH-cam channel has basically made a new episode of the show is the best (Canadian) thanks giving I could’ve asked for. Great video guys!
I absolutely love the Red Green show. Awesome that you guys got to meet Rick Green. Adventures with Bill was always my favorite. Great job on the oppossum van!!!
