Fun fact: arousal can take many different forms including anger, excitement, sexual, fear, and even happiness. All these activate different parts of the brain and it gets weird, all of them have the same physical symptoms increased heart rate, dilated pupils, sweating and sometimes shivering. And why this happens is rather simple, we have different braid regions for different functions but you have only one sympathetic nervous system. It can turn on and off and kind of has a dial that determines your state of arousal.

Theres simultaneously pressure to pursuit and enjoy sex (otherwise theres something "wrong" with you) yet theres also stigma against people (esp women) who are sexually active. For me, learning about my sexual preferences and what gets me aroused most often was the final piece of the puzzle I was missing in order to finally accomplish the healthy self-esteem I have today. While of course there are those out there who don't need sexual activity to achieve happiness, I realized that I at least needed some of it in order to achieve the self-fulfillment I had been longing for for so many years. TL;DR, understanding my sexuality was one of the keys to becoming the happy, fulfilled human being I am today, and it baffles me that so many schools and people try to shun and hide this topic because it just makes EVERYTHING worse.

I know it’s not apart of the sexual cycle itself but there’s definitely been a large part of guilt filled in peoples minds and this could be simple because of how they are raised, confusion. But it could also be from medical issues like people who have hyper-sexuality, or PTSD and I think mental estate is definitely such a large part to the cycle 100% and I am glad people have touched on it over the years

She says she enjoys kisses, hugs, and more wholesome displays of affection, but feel uncomfortable even thinking of having sex with a person. She does however please herself bc it's a natural way of relieving tension. Plus it has a lot to do with brain chemicals (I'm not a doctor, so I don't know what exactly happens there) but she only likes that because it's private. She doesn't feel like showing her naked self to someone else and do things that gross her out mentally. Physically, she still gets horny and is ok with occasionally satisfying that need on her own. I hope this helps! As they said in the video, there are physical and psychological parts of sex and masturbation. This is an example of how an asexual would feel. This isn't the same for every asexual person, but there are a lot that still please themselves.

So ok the testosterone part, but i think that it's not so simple for men either, there is a big psychological part that is not taken into account. Maybe because people in general take men' sexuality for granted at a point where men themselves think that it have to be so. (I'm generalizing ok, i do not pretend that my experience is all men experiences, I'm just saying that maybe women' sexuality is not more complex but only different and that also men' sexuality can be complex as well and must not be taken for granted)

    • @brohvakiindova4452

Yup, there is almost zero awareness about this. Women experience extremely horny teenage boys early in their live and this sets some sort of expectation that men are always horny and can climax easy and fast and need no emotional attachements.
I had to explain this many times now. Sometimes the sex is good but I got too exhausted and then would rather take a break instead of forcing a climax. Sometimes you're too drunk or maybe just emotionally loaded or stressed, or exactly as you put it - don't feel enough connection to have a proper errection. Somehow some women interpret this as their fault for not being beautiful enough.
Last but not least not having an orgasm isn't that big of a deal when you're not a mindlessly horny teenager anymore and this is always an issue when I said it's fine to try another time.
So much pressure to fill that expectation to always climax.

Sometimes I wonder if even the "horny male teenager" stereotype only actually persists because nobody actually helps teenaged boys understand when they're feeling aroused and give them non-sexual ways to resolve it. Orgasms can always be the go-to most of the time, sure, but it's not like a guy can't take a walk to calm down or something. Or if there's a way to channel that desire for sexual relief from looking for sex or sexual activity to non-sexual activity (intimate talking, exercise, etc.)

@@JonathanScarlet Well speaking from personal experience from my teenage years there is very little you can do when you're hormonally instantly aroused by the slightest thought AND you're then laying in bed next to your girlfriend, in her bedroom, presumably in her parents house. All that after the fact that you didn't get to finish.
But also yes a lot of that frustration comes from wrong expectations from porn.
Double but there's also the fact we're biologically primed to reproduce asap so the urge to climax for a man is possibly different than it is to a woman.
Seriously as an adult now I would say just slip out to the bathroom and finish yourself, if you're that frustrated in such a situation. Infinitely better than getting lowkey disappointed or even mad at your girlfriend.

I'm a trans woman, on HRT, and I relate most to the Basson model. With testosterone out of my system, my sexual response has completely changed.
Before HRT, my sexual response usually started with a mental desire, either spontaneously, or triggered by "visual stimuli"; Which is what my desire primarily revolved around.
After HRT, my sexual response usually starts with physical arousal (which also happens differently now), and my desire is much more emotional & contextual; visual stimuli has nowhere near the same effect on me.

My reason for watching this video is the observation in that women seem to be attracted to different things and respond completely different than I do as a man. It seems a lot more action based for women, like the man has to do specific actions for woman to be aroused and satisficed. A man just has to see a moving shape to whatever he finds preferable, touch it, or less commonly get touched by it, and he's aroused and satisfied.

I have a friend who is asexual and while they enjoy talking about fetish stuff, it never goes into the subject of sex as it just isn’t for them. They experience what they refer to as “horny thoughts”, but that excludes sex and even the idea of masturbation.
It can be a bit difficult to remember this when we discuss the fetish stuff, seeing as I am not asexual and share some of the same fetishes, but I am also autistic so it could just be me struggling to read the social cues.
It’s interesting to discuss a shared preference with someone who has a different response to it than I do. My fellow humans are quite interesting and varied. It’s fun to learn how different we are and yet how similar we are.

There's a lot lot of crieteria that can go into that sort of thing. The term 'evolutionary psychology' sometimes gets treated like a dirty word, but there's something to that. Women have a lot more invested in sex than us guys do, biologically speaking. They can get pregnant, and as such it makes sense to value stability and the like. We dudes can just go wherever, practically speaking (nothing keeping us around other than our own decency if she gets pregnant), and as such we tend to favor 'ease of access' a bit more on average.

Huh, didn't know there where so many different schools of thought on this sort of thing. Don't think any of them really apply very well to me though, as I'm an unusual case. Most folks who have sex drives don't train themselves to turn it completely off on command. That last one listed is the closest, but would have an off/off switch for the whole loop. Provided I've actually allowed the cycle to start in the first place, there's another branch off to the side labeled 'Abort!' or something. Followed by 'Yep, enjoy your migraine' because that's what happens when I decide to pull the mental handbrake like that.
It's a useful ability, particularly for a male, but it's not without it's problems. Having it switched off most of the time means I never had to learn to actually *deal with it*. The few times it's caught me unaware usually see me walk (or ride, if on a bike) headlong into the nearest inanimate object and that's pretty embarrassing lol.

You probably need to get out of your current mental state before things can change for you.
      First:
Don't listen to those "You have to had Sex before Age X" bullshit. I thought for a long time like that, just to figure out that I'm Ace and therefore have no sex drive at all. (Its hard to figure out something's missing if you don't have a reference)
      Second:
If you feel lonley and therefore devistated, sucidial, depressed -> Seek professional mental health staff and maybe get a pet.
If you can increase your feeling of selfworth, than you see more oppertunities, and it will be easier to deal with people in a positive way.
      Third:
You only life once. If you are like a workaholic, think about if its worth to put that much lifetime into work. You won't turn younger.
Do some hobbies. Find some friends. Relationship might or might not occure through accident.
If you work in a field that does not give you enough money, maybe think about a change.

I know yall have other videos soley for that convo, this one though i think it wouldve fit right in. For me, hell if a lady gives me them crooked eyes with a smile i melt. I do admit, i have a perfect lady for me though, when she does that, holy damn its like im transported past having a convo with her to wanting to take the clothes off

As male, sometimes I have huge sexual desire, sometimes I`m arousal.
Sometimes I`m disguasted by my sexual urges and just see sex and sexual urges as weakness
