I lost my home that I had finally paid off. Hit some really tough times, wasn’t able to work for awhile. No one would give me a loan. I was forced to sell for a fraction of its value ,ran out of time .state was close to taking it. So I had no choice but to sell. It makes me so angry. After all those years working so hard , finally paying off my mortgage. Then to lose it because of taxes. It’s criminal.

@@bifftannen1598 I agree. Property taxes hit people whose circumstances change upon retirement, and those who inherit properties very hard sometimes. Also, if the neighborhood gentrifies, they vote in tax hikes to force lower income people out of "their" neighborhoods. The taxing bodies would also benefit, as they get their money all up front, from the buyer, if cash, and the lender, if mortgaged, and they don't have to bill/assess constantly. Also, if people move a lot in a certain area, they get the full amount frequently.

Perhaps we should just figure out who those pipes serve and send a $100k repair bill to those 5 houses on that dead end street. Try to budget that for yourself last year. And for those who don't know how Property Taxes work in the State of Texas, please read. Some fear that this will drive appraisals way up in value. That can't happen as, by law, the most a county can increase the value of your property is 10% more than the previous year. This why protesting your taxes every year is so important. It holds the Appraisal District accountable as most counties do a blanket 10% across all properties and don't expect you to protest. You won't win every year you do this, but it does force them to justify as to why your property (home, oil lease, etc.) was valued the way it was. Realtors will usually run comps for you on houses that sold in your area that are similar to your own.

Oh geez. You appreciate a guy who is making it harder for women who have had miscarriages to access mifepristone and are afraid to now even tell their doctors their menstrual cycle dates? Doctors are afraid of being arrested for completing the evacuation of a miscarriage. It's disgusting. And by the way, there is no evidence of a god and what does god have to do with property taxes? Good luck with finding teachers.

Yes abolish property tax! I want all my roads to be toll roads owned by a private company. I want to be charged an arm and a leg just to go down the block. Those big corporations with their big building shouldn’t need to pay more taxes. They are struggling too.

They lower taxes by Billions, and Colorado raises them by Billions.
They cut Property Taxes by 18 Billion Dollars.
Colorado raised theirs by 4 billion dollars.

Does this mean rent will be lowered? I sure hope so 🙏🙏 I rent an apartment in a senior community ,and my rent is increased every year. And I'm told its because of property taxes. It's gotten really hard when you're on a fixed income 😢 Now I would like to see electricity rates come down also. What I pay for electric is REDICULOS. I don't cook or bake. I only use my microwave 2 times a day, ac is set at 79, and I go to bed at 8pm and don't have lights of any kind on, don't have a washer or dryer either. . I can't figure out why my electric bill is $103.00 a month. This is pure greed. 😡😡😡
