I owned a 2015 Range Rover sport v8 supercharged for about 2 years. Added 16,000 miles to the car, lost 0 money. Basically drove the car for free. Car never had any issues, I called it “the brick wall”. Extremely reliable from my experience. I would also have to agree that it’s the best car ever made and if I could have 1 car for the rest of my life it would be a Range Rover. In fact I’m getting another one in the next few months... The car is the epitome of luxury, sportiness, comfort, reliability and practicality. Highly recommend and agree with a lot of what was said in this video 👍🏽👍🏽

Best to buy with LR warranty from dealer. I bought a well specced 67 reg HSE dynamic from a LR dealer with 2 yr warranty a year ago for £40k with a service plan!. They changed the front lower arms, front discs and pads and front tyres at a dealer retail cost of £1500 before sale . Would have cost more privately or elsewhere. Has run superbly, air con needed topping this year. Would recommend LR history as it enhances resale values, and allows the warranty to be extended each year for around £850. By the way, don't skimp on tyres, get the original fit Pirelli Scorpion verde all season for £200 each fitted . The fronts lasted 25k miles and the rears 33k miles, which is excellent.

I currently own a 17 RRS Dynamic with the V8. I've owned it since new and with 104K miles it's still like an absolutely NEW RRS. It's a beast of an SUV and does what it's asked. Love it. I'm actually in the market now for a full size RR with the V8.

great idea but i feel like the evoque and the sport are the most reliable ranges, ours had minimal issues, the 2012 evoque and 2017 RRS V8, since new. ultimate cars and the feeling they give off when driving.

As an MOT tester i can say that the range rover cars are extremely reliable mechanically !.
A couple of issues at 100,000 milage you ought to look out for commonly :
    Rear brake pipes corroded
    Rear brake hoses corroded
    Differential leaks
Side steps often corroded ( this does not affect MOTs )
The only issue when buying these cars at a high milage is the electronics, most owners do not put in the effort for extra servicing such as replacing the suspension valve block filters etc.
These cars are built very solid and my only advice would be for anybody purchasing is to have a good inspection of the cars electronics/suspension heights/braking system

Agreed. The best driving experience of any SUV, and a road presence like no other. My TD6's get better mileage than my wife's 2024 Toyota Rav4, and cost less to both purchase and maintain. The TD6 engine is most efficient at highway speeds when the turbos are working and the engine is in it's power band at around 1850 RPM. I've seen 7.6 L/100km on long highway trips over 800km average. Incredible. You can drive this thing at 85mph for ten hours, and feel like you just went for a spin to the grocery store.
I wish they carried the 2016 styling and interior through 2022, the tactile knobs in the older style are very easy to navigate when driving, compared to the sleek touch screens of the newer models. My first was a 2016 td6 HSE, purchased with 60k miles, sold it at 170k. Second is a 2018 HSE td6, just purchased with 80k on it, for $33cdn, roughly $23,500 usd.
The TD6 is the easiest car to maintain; you'll need a 32mm socket and a siphon to change the oil, a torx T15 or 25 to change the fuel filter, and a philips screwdriver to change the air box filter. Cabin air filter is tool free.
    Tips:
-Use JLR spec oil, changing every 4000 miles, with fuel filter and air filter at every second change. **This can be done from the hood in about 20 minutes, including an oil change with a simple siphon pump off amazon. ****6.4 liters Castrol Edge Engine Oil 5W-30 C1 Synthetic is the alternative.
-Use FRESH dated DEF, adblue when available. DO NOT PUT OLD(a year in your garage) DEF FLUID IN THE CAR! EVER!!!!
-Buy diesel from busy truck stops, where fuel turnover is frequent. No need for "Premium Diesel".
-Michelin Pilot 4S for best summer performance tires- silent, incredible mileage(36psi front, 42 rear). They hydroplane a bit in deep ruts over 80mph during storms.
-Michelin Primacy for best all season. Incredible tire.
-Michelin X-Ice for Canadian winters, Alpine 5 for milder winters on highways, Bridgestone DVM 2 for icy/muddy roads.
-Polish the windscreen, treat it with Rain-X, use Bosch premium wipers and use RainX washer fluid diluted 1:1 with distilled water, and you'll think your windscreen is invisible.
-Spray the foam bonnet gaskets with silicone, as well as exposed wiring in engine bay. The foam absorbs water, and can freeze and deteriorate in winter after a car wash.
-Treat the leather with saddle dressing; it's a high quality leather balm that gives incredible suppleness to the seats, and leaves a residue free satin finish without any slippery feel.
-Treat exterior matte plastics with gel style trim dressing after a good scrub, for a deep matte black finish.
-Ignition stagger at low speed or in traffic is usually a result of old fuel, old fuel filter.
-Change glow plugs & Cam belts at 160,000 miles, and consider a ZF8 transmission flush and fill with new pan, as part of scheduled maintenance.
    2016 Issues:
-Rear wheel bearings in the 2016 at around 130k miles. 400USD. I always travel with the car loaded up with 400lbs of gear etc, I expected this.
-Ground fault, showed up as electrical issue and put vehicle into limp mode. Just needed a ground wire added to the main loom in the engine bay, and some new weather wrap on exposed wiring, engine bay passenger side, front fender harness. $150usd.
-INCORRECT DEF warning. Took it to rover, flushed the system, changed injector, refreshed DEF, reset ECM. $600usd.
-Nothing else, car was as good as the day I bought it when sold.
    Comparisons & Maintenance:
2018 Toyota 4runner, 140K miles: CV Boots($600), Transfer Case ECM ($3200), front steering links($750), Radio short($800), Tailgate rust ($400 repaint), seat bolster collapse($360), and gas mileage was half of the TD6 on premium gas (94), at about 16L/100km. Nice roomy car, good off road performance, challenging to drive in winter highway conditions, frequent brake pad & rotor changes. Seats are small, controls are great but dated interior, good paint, good weather sealing, loud on the highway with wind and road noise.
2019 Ford Explorer, 100K miles: Transfer case($2200), Transmission($3800), ECM($450), CV Joints($700). Drives ok, interior like an old Chrysler. Sits a little too low to stand under tailgate when loading. Mediocre comfort & driver experience. Always felt like like a grocery getter with a bit of lipstick.

I think the biggest issue that isn't mentioned here is insurance rates for this car are absolutely insane, with many insurance companies apparently outright refusing to insure it, and the ones who will charging 3.5k per year for basic insurance. I think this is one of the main reasons why so many people are selling them. They can't afford the insurance anymore and so they have to sell, flooding the market.

I bought a low mileage (30k miles) 2017 SDV6 and it's been nothing but trouble. Constant issues with the DPF despite regular motorway use. Nobody knows how to fix it. I've spent hours under the hood. Love the way the car drives, but cannot justify how often I'm staring at a check engine light and how much time the car is in limp mode. As for the broken crankshafts, maybe it doesn't affect a ton of owners, but the ones it does affect are out thousands and thousands of pounds. Search range rover broken crankshaft and decide for yourself.

    • @AutomotiveEvangelist
      @AutomotiveEvangelist 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@Mina_munas Mina, have your mechanic check the solenoid on the charge air intake valve. This is the valve that mixes the turbocharged air from the primary and secondary turbos, as well as from the EGR valve. Mine was sticking and causing a P0234-77 fault code (turbo overboost) and when that fault code is logged, the car WILL NOT regenerate the DPF. That's why the car was suddenly giving me the message to visit dealer for the clogged DPF - the overboost error won't always light a check engine light. I'd like to say that a Land Rover mechanic figured this out, but I figured it out on my own because those guys don't seem to have any clue how to fix their own products.

Shane I had the same issue on my SDV6 and after purchasing an expensive diagnostic tool (GAP) found that the error was a turbo overboost. This is caused by a sticking butterfly valve on the main air intake. It's not overly expensive to repair and this will most probably sort it. Google the issue and the sticking inlet valve is very common.

    • @AutomotiveEvangelist
      @AutomotiveEvangelist 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@chrismchale1174 I already fixed that but still have the error. I've traced it to the solenoid on the charge air intake valve. Waiting on the part to arrive from Germany.
