I've been riding a RR Sport for almost four years. A great car. It's just a shame that the 3 liter diesel engines, engine type 306DT, are very susceptible to crankshaft bearing damage. The repair of the following engine damage costs € 20,000.
Brilliant review. Love your irreverent approach. I have one of these (my second) and I don’t sell drugs or have kids to drop off at school. Our local school drive is full of X5s and GLEs and I think these are now the brand in which to be seen. I need a car that will pull a heavy boat, cruise effortlessly on Australia’s long distance freeways and allow me to explore the forest tracks. I don’t care about the RR name - if this was an Audi, a BMW or a Merc (BMW and Mercedes’ won’t pull the boat) I’d happily buy it.
These are actually great cars, we need to start uncoupling vehicles from the people that buy them and take them for what the machine can do and how it feels. Also, Yoooorkshire
I drive an X5 but my sister and brother-in-law own one of these - the Autobiography. It does look great and has great options thrown it. Low range acceleration feels quicker than my 40D, but I beat the Range in the mid to upper range. The air suspension can make it tower over my X5 in the highest setting. I wouldn't trade in my BMW for one of these, but I rate them highly, when they work.😂🤣 This is my bro-in-law's second Autobiography. Their first one was nearly a money pit. But they traded it in for a newer version.
My Rangey, an 06 4.4 petrol v8 sport Lives on a farm out in the sticks in Australia. This is its real habitat. Awesome offroader out of the box. Super comfortable on crappy pot holed dirt roads. I frequently wade through my creek crossing when flooded to over my bonnet. Theyre wasted as shopping tolleys in the cities. So far ive found it no more or less reliable than any othe 4x4 ive owned, and ive had em all.. Service the air suspension and clean out the dessicant reservoir every so often then its the best suspension there is. Comfort , class and capability all in one package..... bmw,s porsche, or audis dont cut the mustard out here.Love my rangey.
I get those looks in my old X5. There also seems to be an attitude amongst drivers of small cars, where they seem to pull out on you or, as you saw with the driver who'd rather go head on with you than slow down and wait to overtake, it's almost like a pet rabbit goading a lion.
Another brilliant video The word of the day is Cock... One thing I always think about and have friends (farmers) who are in this scenario, why buy a new defender for 70k plus when you can have the comfort of a sport that's just as capable off road
Just bought a ‘16 RR Sport TD6…. Phenomenal vehicle! Better than our BMW and coming from a newer Ram 2500 w/ Cummins, I’m getting the diesel power, 32 mpg highway, and 7700 lbs towing; while getting absolute luxury and suspension of a suv! Bravo Land Rover!
Had a 2016 RR Sport 3L HSE from new. Only problem was a continually illuminated airbag warning light. Over 3 years LR main dealer couldn't fix it. I understand LR pay minimum wage so their technicians are not too bright. A local garage with a real time served mechanic moved the loom under the seat. No other problems. Very happy.
My wife and I looked at all the smaller Land Rovers and chose the Range Rover Sport because the other models are all much smaller and not that much less expensive. We have the 2021 HSE with 3.0l straight six petrol engine making 355 hp and 365 lb ft torque. We love our Range Rover and I have taken it off-road in the SoCal desert. No X5 could go where I took our RRS. We didn't look at the X5 because... well, my wife wanted the Range Rover. ;)
I see you guys going far glad I met ur channel @ its birth. Your accent is so cool haven't heard Geordie accent in years proper. Never in London its heard never. I'm an old school Londoner even though I live in the States.
@@OLLIEHEELANDTOE how much further nearest city or town thanks. I’ve been to Leeds some of them have it. Glad got that bit of Cockney makes people laugh LOL.
That one guy has such a chip on with the range rover vs X5 as he must have an X5. I'd far rather have a range rover sport than an X5. A range rover sport is designed from the ground up to be a range rover sport. And X5 or GLE share chassis with saloon cars which makes them feel much less planted than the range rover, because the range rover is supposed to be a big tank and the gearbox on the range rover is incredible. For a better driving car, the Porsche Cayenne is the only car I'd rather have but a range rover sport autobiography comes way better spec'ed out than a porsche without all of the expensive extras that must be added on. I had a range rover sport rental, aswell as a Cayenne GTS, X5 and GLE but the Cayenne and Range Rover are the two that were special in their own right. The only thing better about the X5 is the command Navi system and possibly the comfort of the seats, as the range rover seats are quite uncomfortable on long journeys.
I,m on a farm in Aus. My RR sport SDV8 dynamic handles everything on and off road with ease. The beemer X5,s just rattle to bits n get bogged. Not the same cars. ThecRR is a formidable iff road machine with beemer 7series comfort. We true country folk apreciate it deserve it. The RR is still king and will be for as long as it keeps its original design brief. A serious off road machine with a luxurious interior......... get yours dirty today.
Thing about is that you do have off road capability, unlike the X5. Objectively the X5 is a better proposition for someone who doesn’t leave paved roads, but for some of us who do like getting our cars dirty the RR is the choice.
It's the idea of utilitarian luxury. You have a car that is luxurious in avg daily conditions, however if you live somewhere where you get snow during the winter you have a car that is fully capable of getting you out of almost every situation
It´s great that Range Rover is following the footsteps of Audi. Since the 1990s aluminum has been in use at Audi as a key material for bodywork and chassis systems. Wish Land Rover would greatly improve its reliability as it constantly (15 years) seem to produce the least reliable cars in the world.
I bought a RR sport 4.4 V8 d and its fantastic! They are the best cars to drive daily, superbly comfortable, quiet and smooth. They are just about big enough, though the boot is not the best in class. If you have the money buy the V8 diesal. 30mpg and plenty of punch with the ability to pretty much go anywhere.
@@user-ip5fm3ck4p I bought one with full service history. It’s been 13 months of blissful ownership now….since I bought it I’ve replaced two tyres 🛞, replaced 2 brake pads, and serviced it once (full service) when it became due for service (£420.00) … the Range Rover is just like any other car. Drive it like you’d drive your normal car you worked hard to buy, service it when it’s due. Nothing complicated, I love it!
Not sure if anyone pointed it out yet but those vents on the hood aren't fake. They are legit functioning heat extractors. Other than that loved the review.
I'm currently driving my second RR Sport, looking to up date it to another later this year, and I'm genuinely not sure what you mean about people looking at you/me like a knob? I think its mostly admiring it, or jealousy. The weird thing I do notice, is how often people tailgate me. its really strange, and doesn't seem to happen half as much when I drive my wife's Mini, even driving in the same areas at the same speeds?
Very good review. Personally I would buy a Range Rover but one a few years old as they tend to depreciate so fast, where as a BMW seems to hold its value.
Bmws don't hold thier value lol you can get a 2015-2017 for as much as a used disco sport which is obviously Alot cheaper than the real sport so bmws don't hold thier value at all compared to range rovers
Has anyone compared the lease price of the RRS SVR to the SQ7 SQ8 and yes the X5 what a value for money deal £105k car for £750 a month on a 24 m x 5 kpa, tbh not the same build quality as Audi but still a great car, best car I have ever had was the AUDI S8 but a tad too pricy this time , maybe next time , and guys like the way you are doing the channel, keep it real
Had a 2021 D400e HSE. 2800miles on the clock air-conditioning stopped working, sat nav keeps crashing, Bluetooth keep failing and the back door doesn't shut properly. And as for the garage they are about as useful as a glass hammer. Still waiting for my Discovery sport after 5 month's with no updates at all. Now we have to loan a car just to get by.
This idea of unreliability has to stop as well. All modern cars are light years ahead when in comes to reliability than when I was in my twenties. Which was a while ago. I had a gentleman come in to see me to purchase a new Range Rover and he was trading in his current vehicle which was a Range Rover as well, he handed me the keys and a folder with what had malfunctioned on the vehicle and there was a lot that had gone wrong with the car so I asked him why he was purchasing another one with all the problems that he had the his current vehicle his answer was that out of the six Range Rovers that he had owned this was the only one that had caused him any grief and the reason he was updating this one with another Range Rover was because there was nothing else like it. His owned his current vehicle for three years and nothing has gone wrong with this one. You will find that all car companies have similar stories regardless of the brand.
Unfortunately most of the RRS drivers I know complain about the reliability aspect. My brother-in-law currently drives a RRS Autobiography. I drive an X5 with 120k on the clock. In the 6 years since I bought my X5 he's now on his third Range Rover branded vehicle. He doesn't go more than two years without suffering big issues. His first (the Evoque) and Autobiography number 1 caused him no end of problems. His current Autobiography is going well so far. But time will tell.
When the passenger, who admitted he was not a RR owner, past or present, said the RR Sport was unreliable I question how many, if any, BMW’s he has ever owned. I’m on my fourth RR and have experienced zero problems and as a former BMW owner of several models and having friends that have owned the BMW X5 i can honestly say it has been my experience that BMWs are totally unreliable.
Very true. I own 2 BMW’s. No issues, but friends have had theirs towed away with problems. LR is always slated...BMW are not all that great either...over rated for sure. Although, I did have a brand new RR once...it broke after 3 months !
I've got the 2017 SDV8. Wouldn't swap for the SDV6 ever. I pull a 2.5 ton boat and I can still accelerate up steep hills and still uses less fuel towing the boat than the petrol V8 towing nothing. The power is effortless. 250KW and 740NM of torque. Land Rover in their ignorance have dispensed with my model. Just as well mine will last forever.
I have a 2020 RRS, one of the air suspensions went out that had only been driven 4400 mileages. Ride is smooth and nice when it works, my advice if you don't have the time to entertain back and forward to your nearest shop for repairs, look for something else
If I had the option to go back in 2011 I’d never purchase the rrs 5.0 s/c v8. The most “off road” experience Ive ever had. Quick TH-cam search about timing chain for example, or faulty suspension, fan clutch noise, supercharger rattling, etc that will make you off the road most of the time.
Send your CV to JLR Marketing department. "Range Rover. Gets drugs to places other SUVs can't reach" It's genius. Sales would soar with a strapline like that. 🤣🤣👍
That's the best philosophy. I love big Citroens with their fantastic suspension. I know maintenance is higher, but i am prepared to pay for it because of the pleassure that the cars provide when driving them. Like you say, enjoy it!
IMO the X5 is hideous, ditto Audi's offerings. Vulgar stuff. RR is simply class. And to say LR are not forward thinking ignores the new Defender. Nothing is as lovely to sit in and own as a LR. Nothing.
I dont really understand why he still brings the X5 when its literally way under its opponents even the M model.. (RR, Audi Q7/SQ7 and Benz GLE/GLE AMG) all mentioned have way better feel from driving itself and arecin fact from better materials.
Because BMW have an emotional cult like following. The big dude in this video admits the good points of this RR e.g. ride height, off road capability, yet is going for an X5 based off emotions of fear of being judged. The first guy was more honest and let’s face it , when you’re the best everyone wants to take your crown, it’s not pretentious when everyone stops to look at your RR as you drive past. It’s the sign of dominance. Some can handle it others can’t. But let’s not pretend that this isn’t the best SUV around. RR ftw 🙌🏾! 😁 Edit: I’m buying one this winter. Not bad of an upgrade from a little 208 Peugeot. Tired of pretending to be broke to make insecure people “comfortable” about being on their level . Yes I am a knob here’s a 🖕🏽to all the haters ! Always live your best life fellas, you freaking deserve it as you’ve worked for it. 💪🏾

I wouldn't trade in my BMW for one of these, but I rate them highly, when they work.😂🤣
This is my bro-in-law's second Autobiography.
Great banter guys and a fab car. I have a P400E and it has surprised me as a long term Discovery owner. Won’t go back!
Great wee video great start to it music and look . Like your style . Very good vid .
I get those looks in my old X5. There also seems to be an attitude amongst drivers of small cars, where they seem to pull out on you or, as you saw with the driver who'd rather go head on with you than slow down and wait to overtake, it's almost like a pet rabbit goading a lion.
Another brilliant video
The word of the day is Cock...
One thing I always think about and have friends (farmers) who are in this scenario, why buy a new defender for 70k plus when you can have the comfort of a sport that's just as capable off road
Yeh I don’t really get why you’d buy a new Defender unless you need a very serious off roader.
I'll never understand farmer's minds...
so very true
I think what you really mean is jealous
Very happy.
Great review gents, glad I found it. Subscribed from Melbourne 🇦🇺 , keep it up 👍
My wife and I looked at all the smaller Land Rovers and chose the Range Rover Sport because the other models are all much smaller and not that much less expensive. We have the 2021 HSE with 3.0l straight six petrol engine making 355 hp and 365 lb ft torque. We love our Range Rover and I have taken it off-road in the SoCal desert. No X5 could go where I took our RRS. We didn't look at the X5 because... well, my wife wanted the Range Rover. ;)
Great choice overall!
Brilliant video, nice one guys.
I have a RR 2015 V6 Supercharged here in Australia beautiful car and very reliable and fully off road capable
Yesterday i bought mine,2012 5.0 compressor,grey matte ,SVR 22* black rims.I am really happy!
I even like l320 much more than the new one…
I see you guys going far glad I met ur channel @ its birth. Your accent is so cool haven't heard Geordie accent in years proper. Never in London its heard never. I'm an old school Londoner even though I live in the States.
Geordie is just a bit further north than us. We are Yorkshire boys 👌
@@OLLIEHEELANDTOE how much further nearest city or town thanks. I’ve been to Leeds some of them have it. Glad got that bit of Cockney makes people laugh LOL.
P400e has mild hybrid engine and performance after battery used up. No concerns aboit the small engine - it does the job very smoothly
Most fair car review ever, wish you the best and to me too😁😅
That one guy has such a chip on with the range rover vs X5 as he must have an X5.
Thanks for the comment. Privately I must admit, I absolutely loved the Range Rover. I promise I don’t own an X5 😂
Glad to see someone mentioned the seat comfort issue in the Range Rover Sport, I thought I was just picky lol.
The rr is a electrical dumpster fire
I just love the look of a Range Rover Sport.
Thanks Guys. I really enjoyed the Video.. Great work!
Many thanks Ian!
Thing about is that you do have off road capability, unlike the X5. Objectively the X5 is a better proposition for someone who doesn’t leave paved roads, but for some of us who do like getting our cars dirty the RR is the choice.
This was a very good video! Well done!
Late on this but this is a quality video, lads. It’s refreshing to have someone put out an opposing view. Nice one
I own a 2008 Discovery 3 SE V8 with 84K miles on it and I absolutely love it.
The way the casually talk about drug dealers 😂
Once that Repair Bill hits, the owner will start selling drugs 😂
@@mayankexodus Or when the repair bill comes, one will need opioids after looking at that bill ! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Great video and production quality
Thanks Fourwheel Trader - Car depreciation analysis
It's the idea of utilitarian luxury. You have a car that is luxurious in avg daily conditions, however if you live somewhere where you get snow during the winter you have a car that is fully capable of getting you out of almost every situation
I want to give that baby a hug 🤗
The Range Rover is Aluminium so it won't rust and will still be perfect when the X5 is falling apart.
You're right
Good point
It´s great that Range Rover is following the footsteps of Audi. Since the 1990s aluminum has been in use at Audi as a key material for bodywork and chassis systems. Wish Land Rover would greatly improve its reliability as it constantly (15 years) seem to produce the least reliable cars in the world.
@@Kmasse8 Mine is perfect. A combination of great looks, a superb drive and massive power when needed.
Love my Rover Sport 😎
I bought a RR sport 4.4 V8 d and its fantastic! They are the best cars to drive daily, superbly comfortable, quiet and smooth. They are just about big enough, though the boot is not the best in class. If you have the money buy the V8 diesal. 30mpg and plenty of punch with the ability to pretty much go anywhere.
Just discovered this channel, nice lads, easy going style, love the Northern countryside, subscribed ✊
Appreciate it Steve! 🙏
I bought my first Range Rover Sport recently after watching TH-cam videos for 4 years ….I will make a video about the suv after 2 months use.
How's it going?
@@user-ip5fm3ck4p I bought one with full service history. It’s been 13 months of blissful ownership now….since I bought it I’ve replaced two tyres 🛞, replaced 2 brake pads, and serviced it once (full service) when it became due for service (£420.00) … the Range Rover is just like any other car. Drive it like you’d drive your normal car you worked hard to buy, service it when it’s due. Nothing complicated, I love it!
@@Michael.P247did you service at main dealer or Kwik fit
I could take mine Kwik fit or Halfords and it’s sorted , I.e X5
Not sure bout range rovers
Never really considered this as the go to off-road barbiturate delivery vehicle. Pro tip.
One day
For sure
I will gift myself a RANGE ROVER 😤
This is the best car review...I have ever seen
Top watch again guys!
Not sure if anyone pointed it out yet but those vents on the hood aren't fake. They are legit functioning heat extractors.
Other than that loved the review.
Great video! Really enjoyed the content.
Thanks God I will buy one for myself
I'm currently driving my second RR Sport, looking to up date it to another later this year, and I'm genuinely not sure what you mean about people looking at you/me like a knob? I think its mostly admiring it, or jealousy. The weird thing I do notice, is how often people tailgate me. its really strange, and doesn't seem to happen half as much when I drive my wife's Mini, even driving in the same areas at the same speeds?
It’s probably jealousy! Look at him in his big Range Rover. Instantly breeds contention 😂
This is true
after a long time im seeing svr i love it thanks
Beautiful looking car.
Great shape.
Bit expensive also unfortunately..
Very good review.
Personally I would buy a Range Rover but one a few years old as they tend to depreciate so fast, where as a BMW seems to hold its value.
Yes crazy depreciation % on the Range Rovers
Thanks Dude!
Great video guys
I hope you wear dark trousers in your X5 so you can clean the sill when you get out.
You truly deserve more subscribers
excellent on diesel newcastle nsw to gympie qld full tank on a 110 klm love it
Had a 2021 D400e HSE.
We hope it does last forever. They are truly brilliant 🙌
Oh man nice editing sounds colours feel like watching movie.
Thanks for your wonderful comments and ratings. I really appreciate ❤️.
I'll advise you to invest in crypto like I do and make good profits as it's currently the most profitable investment after telsa.

Do well let him know I referred you to him...his strategies are top notch ✅...and don't forget to smash the like button..

"Range Rover. Gets drugs to places other SUVs can't reach"
It's genius. Sales would soar with a strapline like that. 🤣🤣👍
Might give it a go 😂
here in Brazil they used some for bank robberies, one got impounded with a f*cking .50 machine gun mounted on the roof LMAO
Loved the video! Good fun you guys! Have you test drove the SVR? I test drove one today. The SVR is sensational!
Not yet! Have only been a passenger in one and that was as you say, sensational!
Top reviews. Subscribed and shared 😊
Test drive the p400e hybrid... 400bhp, 86mpg
Sounds like a beast! 80,000kg though?
Forget all about the naysayers whining about the reliability. If you like it and you have the money, buy it. Have fun, enjoy it. Live your life.
That's the best philosophy. I love big Citroens with their fantastic suspension. I know maintenance is higher, but i am prepared to pay for it because of the pleassure that the cars provide when driving them. Like you say, enjoy it!
So when can we see the counter argument video for the X5? Waiting with excitement!
IMO the X5 is hideous, ditto Audi's offerings. Vulgar stuff. RR is simply class. And to say LR are not forward thinking ignores the new Defender. Nothing is as lovely to sit in and own as a LR. Nothing.
Definitely
I've got an SVR an amazing machine!
Stick with my Land Rover Discovery 4 Landmark.
I nearly bought one but the V6 crankshaft failures put me off
I dont really understand why he still brings the X5 when its literally way under its opponents even the M model..
RR ftw 🙌🏾! 😁
Edit: I’m buying one this winter. 💪🏾
