      Terrain Response is an evolution of Hill Descent Control. HDC was first introduced in 1997, in the Freelander Terrain Response was 2007 in Freelander 2. They were also the first to use air suspension way back in the early 90s. Despite their critics, they’re nothing if not innovative.

    Great review guys. Personally I don’t even think X5 and RRS are same league. The RRS is something else and has a presence nothing else on the road has. I’m getting a V6 Dynamic this week.

    • @markkofi8522
      @markkofi8522 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That's your opinion and I respect it. But when you look at the technical side and driver appeal, the X5 is certainly more than a match for the RRS, on the road.
      Clearly the RRS has the off road edge, but how many actually do any serious off roading?
      Also the reliability issue puts the X5 on top.
      A final point, there are soooooo many RRS's on the road that its lost that exclusivity.

    • @dennox1
      @dennox1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@markkofi8522 Still on the road the RRS is a head turner the X5 doesn't look anything special in a world full of similar cars from Audi, Volvo, VW, Porsche, Mercedes etc ... again my opinion. Also on driver appeal, have you driven one? they are something else.

    • @markkofi8522
      @markkofi8522 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@dennox1 Hey bro, I was waiting for your response. 😁
      No, I've not driven one.
      My brother-in-law, who has a RRS Autobiography, hasn't given me the pleasure of sampling his. He knows that my right foot is rather heavy, so he doesn't risk it.
      I gave him a blessing for my sister but he won't give me his car for a test drive. 😂🤣
      The Range is a head turner. But the head is turning every 2 minutes because there's so many of them on the road 😂🤣

      @alexthyer1681 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@markkofi8522 x5 is not as exclusive as RR. x5's are driven by the police here in the UK and because of that, many see the x5 as a common/cheap car.

    My uncle had a 2014 V6SC SE with the 3.0 supercharged petrol engine with 340hp. It was grey with black interior and had black badges and black wheels. Car looked so mean and drove so nicely. Seats were comfy and the car had something about it that made it feel strong and quality. Ended up selling it last year with 77k km on it for a brand new Audi SQ7. Only ever had one issue which was a coolant leak. He loved the sport so much that he is considering buying another to replace his old 2015 Mercedes ML. Range Rover Sport is an awesome car.

      The X5 is not interested in bundu bashing while covered in mud mate. It rules the road, it has amazing tech and the only SUV's that can challenge it's car like agility and road holding are Cayenne & URUS. Yes the RR has that nobility/regal status. I’m on my 2nd RRS now. I had the 306PS SDV6, and i have the P400e now. There was a 6 month delivery time when i ordered it, so while waiting for the new i one i ordered a BMW i3s, that i have wanted to get for a loooong time (i got a better deal when i traded the SDV6 immediately to the dealer). I got the P400e in January 2021 and i have driven about 5000kms with it, with the BMW almost 1 year later a bit under 25K! I do LOVE the RRS! I got it in Carpathian Grey and put those 22” graphite grey silver turned wheels on it, it looks just amazing! I also love BMW for their technology and how their cars drive and i was looking at the X5 both times before i got the RRS, but there is just something special about the RR…The feel, the amazing ride, i love the seats, it feels like a real SUV, i love that! Also, i like the image of the RRS compared to the X5, it feels like it’s “nothing special”, while the RRS has that “something”. I REALLY hope that Land Rover will soon bring a electric RRS, i have gotten to love driving electric and do so mostly with the RRS, but the range is absolutely shit with the those 22’s. Also, the RRS is pretty poorly equipped. I have ticked almost everything possible, but it lacks things, or charges extra that many many much cheaper city SUV’s have (Skoda, VW, the Korean’s), so that’s a big downer. Looking very much forward to the 2023 RRS, if it rubs me the right way, i will def consider trading it in around 2024…It will probably have 20k Km’s on it, LOL!!😂

    The main issue with JLR cars really has been the reliability, silly issues and quality problems. But even worse than that is the extremely sluggish at times infortainment screens compared to market leaders. The latter is really a problem that shouldn’t even be a consideration for cars that easily exceed £100k. Seems like the newer systems in the Defender and refreshed discovery sort out some of it, but it’s still not quite as smooth as it should be.

    It does look great and has great options thrown it. Low range acceleration feels quicker than my 40D, but I beat the Range in the mid to upper range. The air suspension can make it tower over my X5 in the highest setting.
    I wouldn't trade in my BMW for one of these, but I rate them highly, when they work.😂🤣

    I,m on a farm in Aus. My RR sport SDV8 dynamic handles everything on and off road with ease. The beemer X5,s just rattle to bits n get bogged. Not the same cars. ThecRR is a formidable iff road machine with beemer 7series comfort. We true country folk apreciate it deserve it. The RR is still king and will be for as long as it keeps its original design brief. A serious off road machine with a luxurious interior......... get yours dirty today.

    It's the idea of utilitarian luxury. You have a car that is luxurious in avg daily conditions, however if you live somewhere where you get snow during the winter you have a car that is fully capable of getting you out of almost every situation

    My wife and I looked at all the smaller Land Rovers and chose the Range Rover Sport because the other models are all much smaller and not that much less expensive. We have the 2021 HSE with 3.0l straight six petrol engine making 355 hp and 365 lb ft torque. We love our Range Rover and I have taken it off-road in the SoCal desert. No X5 could go where I took our RRS. We didn't look at the X5 because... well, my wife wanted the Range Rover. ;)

    Very good review.
    Personally I would buy a Range Rover but one a few years old as they tend to depreciate so fast, where as a BMW seems to hold its value.

      Bmws don't hold thier value lol you can get a 2015-2017 for as much as a used disco sport which is obviously Alot cheaper than the real sport so bmws don't hold thier value at all compared to range rovers

    I bought a RR sport 4.4 V8 d and its fantastic! They are the best cars to drive daily, superbly comfortable, quiet and smooth. They are just about big enough, though the boot is not the best in class. If you have the money buy the V8 diesal. 30mpg and plenty of punch with the ability to pretty much go anywhere.

    Thing about is that you do have off road capability, unlike the X5. Objectively the X5 is a better proposition for someone who doesn’t leave paved roads, but for some of us who do like getting our cars dirty the RR is the choice.

    That one guy has such a chip on with the range rover vs X5 as he must have an X5. I'd far rather have a range rover sport than an X5. A range rover sport is designed from the ground up to be a range rover sport. And X5 or GLE share chassis with saloon cars which makes them feel much less planted than the range rover, because the range rover is supposed to be a big tank and the gearbox on the range rover is incredible. For a better driving car, the Porsche Cayenne is the only car I'd rather have but a range rover sport autobiography comes way better spec'ed out than a porsche without all of the expensive extras that must be added on.
    I had a range rover sport rental, aswell as a Cayenne GTS, X5 and GLE but the Cayenne and Range Rover are the two that were special in their own right. The only thing better about the X5 is the command Navi system and possibly the comfort of the seats, as the range rover seats are quite uncomfortable on long journeys.

    Has anyone compared the lease price of the RRS SVR to the SQ7 SQ8 and yes the X5 what a value for money deal £105k car for £750 a month on a 24 m x 5 kpa, tbh not the same build quality as Audi but still a great car, best car I have ever had was the AUDI S8 but a tad too pricy this time , maybe next time , and guys like the way you are doing the channel, keep it real
