Graham, Thank you for a useful owners review of the vfr1200f and especially being open about your own physical size. Too many professional reviews claim the vfr1200f is too heavy but you have put that into perspective. My plan to tour Europe in 2021 was cancelled by Colvid. I maybe able to undertake that in 2022 with the vfr1200f on my to buy list.
Thank you for your kind comment, and on my other video. The bike is definitely a grower, and I hope you enjoy one as much as I have. Hope to tour more in 2022 myself.
"professional reviews" don't listen to those. They all want to track this bike because of it's engine and forget this is a sports touring bike. Longer and heavier is your friend for touring, gives you directional stability at hwy speeds. This bike got canceled because of 2008-2012 financial crisis (expensive bike) and in part because of idiotic reviews.
Hiya pal, I enjoyed watching that 👍🏻. I have the VFR1200x and the Honda tech guys I think tweaked the engine on the one I have to give it much low down punch, it's the DTC gearbox in mine and it's awesome. Since starting to ride bikes I've always treat mysel to a new one every 3 years but no so no more, it's a keeper as it's without doubt the best bike I've ever ridden. You've got yourself a well looked after motorcycle there, nice colour to 👍🏻
I'm thinking about buying a bike like yours so, thank you for your videos they are very informative. I love the blue! I'm hoping to buy a newer model with few miles on it. I'm at an age where I don't want the hassle of a chain. Power comfort and luggage are important factors. If you get to Scotland please make a video! 🙂
Nice ride all round. My2015 is a freaking missile if you want it it to be, but always smooth as silk, love it. Around town, 3rd to 4th gear max or it feels like it’s labouring. You would be a harsh critic to knock these bikes. Fantastic!
I bought a 2010 with 30,417 miles as a first bike. I'm glad I went with this bike. Only thing I don't like is the jerky throttle input at about 2k to 4k rpm. Other than that, it's so comfortable and it doesn't feel heavy at all, but I'm 6'1 250 lbs. Overall, idk what I could replace this bike with later
Yes, although mine has the 2012 updated ecu, and a power commander, it still hunts a bit a low revs, but only just coming off a light throttle. Out of character for such a fantastic engine. Yes I don't know what I would replace it with... Possibly a dct like yours. Thanks for watching.
@@TopDonBarrow Oops yes sorry, I must have seen your user name DBC and got a bit dyslexic. I've heard good things about both of those ecu remaps, but I personally tend to leave things standard (previous owner fitted power commander). Thanks for your kind comment.
Anybody on here have the cam chain noise on start up from cold. Slight rattle for a minute or so then stops . Seems to be a issue on the 1200f and 1200 x crosstourer. Apparently some bikes did it from new .
@@Grahamvfr i was concerned about it until i read lots of people have had the issue , but have done thousands of miles without issue and its not not got any worse. Was quoted £500 plus two chains at £140 each , and then you have no guarantee if they will do the same in a few thousand miles. 🤔 mine does it from cold for a minute, and warm for a few seconds if you rev it.
@@JIMWSMITH yea, I woukd have been concerned if I'd not known about it before, simply because its such a otherwise refined engine. I personally am happy to ignore it... ish haha.
Ooh, comfort is quite subjective, depending on which type of bike your coming from. If you are coming from a sportsbike, no you probably won't feel the standard are low, but if you are coming from a upright bike, then possibly. However I must point out that the standard bar position is perfect for 'sports touring', which is the bikes brief I guess.

I went from a 2010 VFR1200F to a 2012 VFR1200X, the X has 44hp less at the top end but has amazing grunt from tick over. Honda put in different cams, smaller headers and longer intakes to put massive grunt into the bottom end. Both fantastic bikes, Love Honda V4’s

Yes indeed, many yrs before I got mine, a vfr owner said to me, you'd have to go a very long way, to take the vfr out of its comfort zone.
That bike is beautiful. Wish I could find one hee in the US
