    I switched to tongue blocking 5 months in to learning to play. I was hesitant at first but am glad I did. Seems easier for me to play that way. But i’d still like to do both.

    • @Harmonicacom
      @Harmonicacom  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Right on Allen! Yeah I do think it's best to be able to do both.

    Hey Luke, thanks for this. Been playing as a hobby for probably about a year and a half-ish now & been watching your stuff from the start, and I always get jazzed when a new email pops up in my inbox. Always fun to encounter something new that makes me stop and go "wait, hang on...." since then that's a brand new hill to climb & conquer!

    I'm cheating on my beginner-to-boss class to try this Luke! One question...You go into tongue slapping around 12:30, but if I'm correct the entire shuffle goes back into lifting. Am I missing a step? Thanks :)

    • @Harmonicacom
      @Harmonicacom  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      🤣 Great groove to work on for sure! And totally suitable for beginners who have a lot of patience! The ultimate goal is:
      *Slap for single note
      *Lift for chord
      That's what I'm doing at 13:30. The Slap is a fairly subtle effect, and the faster the tempo is, the less noticeable it is.

    Hey Luke, thanks for this excellent lesson. You have inspired me to pick up my Hohner Blues Harp again after 25 years! I'd like to ask one question on the bit about the chords being all draw 12 by lifting the tongue : How can you not use the lungs even a little bit when you're on blow 2 and you lift the tongue to get draw 12? I think than I can even see you instantly draw breath at 11:44 ,unless I am mistaken. Thanks again for taking the time for all this, good buddy!

    • @Harmonicacom
      @Harmonicacom  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Awesome man. SO GLAD you're digging the lesson. It was a labor of love. 😁 I believe I'm doing all those with just the force of my tongue, but I could be wrong. Scratch that, I just tried doing 100% tongue, not really possible, has to be a tiny bit of lungs, you're right! 🤣 But strive to use as much tongue and as little lung as possible, and I think you'll find it's easier as the tempo picks up.

      Hope it works out. Definitely just a personal preference and both Embouchures work! I was super hesitant but a friend talked me into it. I’m only 3 weeks into it and I honestly don’t think I could go back to just lip blocking. My plan is to just utilize both honestly. In my case the transition was easy and I caught on quick. I’m only a beginner too maybe 5 months in so I’m not very good all the way around but I’m enjoying the journey!! Anyway hope it works out bud!

    Would you please do a lesson for the song "I've got a golden ticket" from Willie Wonka and the chocolate factory. Or perhaps point me in the right direction. I can't find a harmonica lesson for that song anyplace and I would love to learn to play it for my grandson. Thank you for considering.

      I've never played one. But you get what you pay for. The best cheap harp (though not that cheap) I recommend is the East Top 008k like $20. More info here: www.harmonica.com/which-harmonica-to-buy/
