    I'm a new (60 year old) harmonica player this week and have really really enjoyed your teaching style. I look forward to playing well enough for my wife (she's a new ukulele player) and my beautiful little grand-daughters! Thanks again.

    Hi Tomlin, thank you for your lessons! Mostly I play a chromatic harmonica and mostly I can translate your instructions for the chromatic harp. (Depends on the key you play.) Can you give some hints for chromatic harp players to get a better blusy sound?

    • @danielfaller5617
      @danielfaller5617 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ive never had a chromatic harmonica but I guess you should play the blues scale and for the sound try to bend the notes that are bent on the diatonic harp of just get a diatonic harmonica.

  • @blackfishgaming7145
    @blackfishgaming7145 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why do you use a C harmonica when the progression is in G? (I'm a guitarist trying to help my friend learn the blues on his harmonica). A simple explanation on what harp to use over different keys would be super helpful. Thanks!

  • @boro4186
    @boro4186 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    all righty so how do we expand on the base set here by adding 2-3 notes per progression? :) Also something I have huge difficulty learning is bending, you can't blues without bending :)

    Hey thank you for the lesson. I think I’m getting it, but I wanted to ask you a question. How do you draw without losing your breath? I tend to lose my breath quickly when I draw. Maybe I’m doing something wrong?? Is there a better technique?

    What really is the meaning of "second position in the key of G"? Has it anything to do with being able to bend a key to the tone of G?

  • @lolwhittingham

    Hey Tomlin, could you answer this question for me please...
    If i want to improvise to this 12bar progression. Do i have to use the notes that are in the chord being played? Say the first 4 bars was 'C' chord , am i 'only' allowed to use the notes from this chord? Thanks !

    • @TomlinHarmonica
      @TomlinHarmonica  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No you can use those notes but you can also use notes from the Blues Scale and major pentatonic scale (unless a minor blues). There are very few rules.

    • @JBCavern
      @JBCavern 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@shaggymotionless4269 Thank you, Snookie. This doesn't answer my question. Can you take another shot at this. I can play chords and single notes and that's not the issue.

    • @TomlinHarmonica
      @TomlinHarmonica  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@JBCavern That's a great question JBCavern. You are not playing chords when you play single notes. Instead, you are playing the root note of each chord. The guitar is playing the chords and you are playing the root note which is the strongest fundamental tone in the chord. Hope that helps. T
