  • The Maronite Monks of Most Holy Trinity Monastery are a Catholic community of contemplative monks dedicated to a life of prayer and Eucharistic Adoration-a life of religious reparation and penance for souls-that is, for our brothers and sisters in the world, especially those in most need of our prayers. We are a cloistered, contemplative community in which there is an harmonious fusion of cenobitic and eremitical living. This life of adoration and penance overflows to others by making possible to all God's People in the local community the opportunity for:
. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament
. Sharing in the Liturgy of Divine Office
. Participating in the Divine Liturgy of the Mass

I visited this monastery when i was 17 in the summer 1992. It was a holy experience. The chants were beautiful and i still hear them in my head today. When I was there they said mass ad orientem. My best memory was Sunday afternoon and benediction. I remember ther being 2 thurifers swinging before the large monstrance. I would love to have a recording of them chanting the offices or to buy a copy of their office book. My priest went every summer and invited me to go with him. My priest was the first American priest to be ordained to the Roman Catholic priesthood. I hope to visit this monastery again.

They would kiss the floor when enter the chapel except they would bow when processing together. The Blessed Sacrament was exposed most of the day except during liturgies.

What a lovely chapel. Sounds odd, but I'd love to be able to visit each state' monastery, for the Lord and for the quiet offered.

Monks are normally have toughest penencial life like John the Baptist. Missionery priests are like Apostles who carry good news of Jesus to people then secular priests who generally carry out parish duties and keeping their flock together and general priests who are coming under some special congregations like St. mother Theresa and other priestly congregations.

Do Maronites cross themselves in Byzantine fashion, Latin fashion, or a different way? Do they utilize the rosary, prayer rope, both?

Maronites cross themselves the "Syriac" way which is same as Latin (other Christians who are "Oriental Orthodox" - the Copts, Syriac Jacobites, and the Armenians - likewise do same as opposed to the Greek Orthodox who do right to left.) I positive they do rosary, the prayer rope in regards to the Jesus Prayer of Byzantine Catholics and Greek Orthodox is traditionally foreign to Syriac Christianity.

These guys aren't REAL Maronites. They're an American invention.

M Thank you for clarifying that Pau D’s comments were completely uninformed. He was more concerned with getting attention than getting it right.

@@Sybok51288 I'm a Syro Malabar Christian. Our church follows the East Syriac (Chaldean) tradition. In the East Syrian tradition, we cross from right to left, the same way as that of the Byzantines. But the Chaldean Catholic Church, and some dioceses of our church as well, cross the Latin way. This might be due to latinisation. In the Syrian tradition we do have the prayer rope. Oriental orthodox churches uses the Prayer rope including Coptic and Syriac Orthodox. Our church which is based in India, traditionally used Rudraksha mala as the prayer rope with a wooden cross at the end. Rudraksha is a seed which is commonly used as beads in the Hindu religion.

Eastern and western rites both are acceptable if who are following it. And like catholics, orthodox, Meronite, Syriac, Greek, Chaldean, Coptic, Jewish community, Byzentine, Roman,Latin, Aramaic, Anglican, Methodist, protestants, Baptist, Pentecost like wise etc are to be brought to closer. Then only peace and harmony can reign all over world .

I visited this monastery for a retreat and they wanted me to join. But the Abbot is an ex Trappist I want it to run his own show and was very controlling. It felt more like a cult he used the Maronites as a way to fund his little monastery even though most of them monks were not from the Maronite tradition.

patrick Sampson ....one visit to the monastery and they wish for you to join the community, some how I don't think so. it take years to find you're true calling to this way of life, sorry but one visit won't cut it. I think that the Abbot show wise prudence in showing you the door.
