    If you have multiple windows running, rather than using X to close out of Chrome, use 3 dot menu > Exit. This will close all windows, and when you re-open, ALL windows including their respective tabs and tab groups will be restored.

    • @geecrypto5650
      @geecrypto5650 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I also recommend an extension called Session Buddy which saves all your sessions (sets of windows and tabs) automatically, handy when Chrome fails to restore them occasionally.

    Those group tabs are also being forced in chrome for android. With every update i'm Disabling everything that has "tab" in it and it's still comming back those group tabs. With latest update, you can't even disable them anymore... Everything is disabled and they are still present. Group tabs for Chrome Android SHOULD BE AN OPTION!! NOT PERMANENT FEATURE!!

    • @tjj1171
      @tjj1171 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I absolutely agree and I HATE tab groups in Android Chrome.
      It is inevitable that they will become a permanent feature and ruin it for good- but for now you can still fix it
      Go to chrome://flags/
      "Temporarily unexpire m89/90"
      This will bring back all of the tab group flags for disabling
      Disable everything relating to tab groups
      Relaunch
      Force stop app
      Relaunch again
      Force stop again
      Relaunch again
      (I dont know why the multiple relaunches and force stops are needed but they were necessary for me)
      The groups will be gone
      If youre reading this in the future and you cant do this or the unexpire m89/m90 dont exist anymore. Its already too late. Google has made groups truly permanent

    • @juliedejonge3931
      @juliedejonge3931 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The developer said, "Unfortunately no, tab grouping cannot be disabled anymore. As you said, flags were the intermediate solution. But, the flags to disable tab grouping will no longer be in new releases." So thoughtful. Nobody qsked for it and nobody likes it, but let's force it on every user because we know better what they want.

    What a useless feature. If you can't save the groups and then open them later (without the work around) what is the point of bothering to group stuff?

  • @thismomknows
    @thismomknows 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Thank you! It is crazy that you can't save tab groups. That (to me) would seem to be the entire point of them and therefore where the value is. (I suppose you could argue that bookmarks would accomplish the same thing, but the difference to me feels like tab groups are more regularly used sites while bookmarks would be things you want to find at some point later.)

    • @imtotallyseriously
      @imtotallyseriously 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Agreed! I'm so annoyed. I saved a bunch of tabs in a group for my work research, assuming they're now saved somewhere like a bookmark. I could also see them in the restore tab recent history. Fast forward 24 hours, that group is gone - some 4 hours of valuable research wasted.

    They need to save the groups in a dropdown option somewhere on the bookmarks bar. So that we can close the group but still have other groups open in other chrome windows and/or so that we can quickly select a group and it pops up on the screen in front of the others. It's still so cumbersome but a start to a great feature to have.

      It saves having loads of tabs showing on top of the Google screen. Instead you just have a few groups - for instance one containing all your TV and Radio stations. When you click the group it flip-flops between displaying all the tabs or showing just the one "master" tab.

    Thanks! Nice workaround. I'm going to give it a try. How strange that we can't save them, though. I mean, we can save bookmarks to pages, why not tab groups? Oh, Google! You work in mysterious ways.

      I agree. I was expecting to see a Save Tab Groups near bookmarks.

      Loved every new tab management thing on chrome. But saved with tab group disappointed me after finding way online 1hour. Expecting a new update with this one from google.

    Great Video, one issue is that the save tabs doesn't seem to work well when your work mandates that you go through a VPN. In that, I just start in the morning and at the end of the day, I just all out and start over the following day. However it is very useful during my work to have Tab Groups. I hope Google Changes this soon, very handy though. Thank you for the training!

    Thank you your majesty... you have saved my kingdom! I am forever in your debt. Hail to king MENARD! This morning for the second time this year, I foolishly let all my 17 tabs and groups vanish into the far reaches of our solar system. ( I was ticked off big time...you wouldn't believe all the good stuff I had saved up !)
    I'll never get that info back again, so I'm going into a very deep meditation today and try to visualize how my screen looked a day ago then try and re-create everything again.
    You're a nice guy, thanks again... and expect a miracle to happen in your life this coming Friday as a result of GOOD KARMA !
    Good day.

    Thx Chris but sadly due to product, it appears you cannot retrieve more than one tab group unless you have instances of Chrome on different screen, nightmare
