    Can you set a reminder for this?? Also can you add to this where it won't duplicate dates?

    Okay. I’ve watched this video 1000 times, and I’ve done at least 30 test runs. But it is just not working for me. I changed all the times like you said, I formatted the dates the same way you did, all my headers and stuff are exactly correct, saved as a CSV, but every time I hit import into google docs it says it cannot process my file. What am I doing wrong? I know it’s something so obvious but I feel like I’ve tried everything. I have given up for tonight

    If you really want to do repeating events correctly, import the single event to your Google calendar then export the .ics and open it in a text editor. Then you just "find and replace all" for:
    END:VEVENT
    with
    RRULE:FREQ=YEARLY
    END:VEVENT
    That will make all the events repeating yearly. There's also "DAILY" "WEEKLY" etc. If you want to see what the proper fields are for different event settings, make an event with those options, export it and then open the .ics to see the format.

    Can you update that spread sheet and if you do will it duplicate events??

    • @ChrisMenardTraining
      @ChrisMenardTraining  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No that will not work. If you update the spreadsheet you would have to do the import again. I'll have to test to see what happens with the duplicates. I have a feeling it will import them again.

    Hi Chris, thanks so much for the video. I don't know why I can't export mine, seems there are other columns Google Calendar didn't like so much. I tried to copy paste them in another sheet and it works (so why doesn't it work in the first place?). Since it's not convenient cause I'm trying to create an event based calendar and I need to change the dates as events change dates, I tried to import the data into another sheet and export it in .csv, but this time it doesn't work either. Do you now what could cause the issue?

    Hei Chris, thanks for the missing manual. In Europe, nobody would think of writing the date and time like that, but maybe it would work with other formats. I've been importing mainly all-day and multi-day events, and I really have a problem with the multi-day ones, even though some of them end incorrectly a day earlier. I can't figure out why that is. You didn't deal with multi-day events in the video.

This is an import so will only import the information as it is presented. If I was to change the information in the csv file, it won't automatically update it on my google calendar, correct? I have been doing this for years. Every year there is a new problem. Either Apple or Microsoft has changed something.
    This time the .csv -file refused to go through. I had to close Excel, tell my Mac we are in the US (I am in France), restart Excel, import the .xls file again set with correct delimiters, and save it as American style.csv. Took me an hour to figure it out, but it's done.

The moment I take your CSV file, do Text to Columns, then save again as CSV file, it does not work. I have also changed the date columns to display as our format (we don't show the month first, usually it is dd mm yyyy or less common yyyy mm dd). I have not altered your CSV template in other ways. I have been sitting at this for hours trying to find that one small thing that is in my way. Any advice?

      Hello, google calendar told me the same. I was saving the doc from excel (and not google sheets). I think the problem was that on excel the .cvs use ";" to separate the datas and google calendar only accept the ",". Which is why we need to go through google sheets which does use the "," separation.
      Hope this will help

    Great video really helpful, thanks for sharing. Is there a way to make an event every Monday or every two weeks at all? Thanks

      Yes! I'll make a video on how to do every Monday or whatever repeating time frame you want this weekend.

    Very helpful, thank you! Is there an easy way to clear all events from the previous import? I'm making a conference schedule and I'd like to make updates in the spreadsheet and then reimport the updated spreadsheet (without creating duplicate events and without manually deleting them from the calendar).

    • @ChrisMenardTraining
      @ChrisMenardTraining  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Erica, there is no easy way to do that. I would make a new calendar and import the events into the new calendar.

      @@ChrisMenardTraining thanks for your response! It really is too bad there is not an easy way to do that. The issue for us with creating a new calendar each time is that there will be multiple versions of calendars floating around. And duplication of events as people copy events from the calendar to their personal calendars.

    Thankyou for this!
    One question. I want a 25 hour event to show start and end times on the calendar, so that I can print them from the calendar. Is there a way to do this please?
    Google shows 'all day' for anything over 24 hours when I try to print it.

    Hi Chris, great video and helpful. Can you tell me how to delete events from a calendar that were added in error please? I mistakenly imported an ics file from a third party calendar to my main calendar and got overwhelmed with all their events. I was trying to figure out how to delete those events but could not determine how. The only thing I came across was something that said to replace File:Confirmed with File:Cancelled in the ics file itself. It said open the ics file in a text editor and make the change then save it and upload the ics file from the third party calendar to the calendar you wanted to delete the entries and that is what it was supposed to do. I couldn’t get it to work so I wonder if you might know what to do. Would appreciate any thoughts you might have and thanks so much for your help.

    I've followed this video the best I can but still hitting a wall. I saved as a csv from Google sheets. Will that effect it?
    I also home some text in my start time on some cells. I'm aware that won't go in but it shouldn't effect the rest of the times etc correct?
    Basically trying to import my baseball schedule into the calendar. Just keeps coming back as 0 of 0.
