    Hello friend! When I bought my 49 3100 last March, I thought... How in the heck am I gonna learn how to work on the old girl... Then I found you! Wow! What a Godsend you've been! THANK YOU! Tomorrow I start inspecting and adjusting my huck brakes! Thanks for being beside me in the garage giving me a hand!

    Hey Dave thx for the history lesson.. I don't think I've ever heard of huck brakes.. looks like a simple design.. Well thx for the explanation.. I think I've missed a few of your videos.. Been helping mom.. she's been in the hospital several times and it's keeping me pretty busy.. Dave you take care my friend and God Bless...

    Thanks Dave. I didnt know they were called Huck brakes. I rebuilt the entire brakes/master cylinders but the car is hard to move (1941 Master Deluxe). When I release the pressure from any of the four cylinders it is back to normal.... Until I press the brake again. I'll adjust down the cylinder's screws and see what happens.

    They remind me of the old Volkswagen brakes, but the adjusters were on the bottom, You read the old owners manuals and they tell about adjusting valves and brakes, today’s tell you don’t drink the battery contents, thanks Dave.

      Hey David. Some don't even provide a dip stick for the tranny anymore. It's crazy world out there, LOL. Have a good 'un.

    I've been saving up and finally got myself a 1948 GMC 1/2 ton short bed five window. I've been watching your videos for years gathering info for this momentous occasion. It's a project not road worthy at all. No brakes lights and no interior. I think it has a 216 in it, four on the floor. I have some catching up on your videos now. Thanks Dave for all the great info your channel offers.

      Hey Randy. Thanks for watching. Send me your addy and I'll send you a couple stickers. As for your engine it's possible someone put a 216 in it but being a GMC it's probably a GMC 228 which has more HP. Checkout the serial # behind the distributor for more info.
      Dave

    I always have trouble figuring out which way to turn the adjusters. Your chart is a good idea. I use a screwdriver also. I don't get many opportunities to adjust huck brakes.

      @Volfandt  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Lee, that chart saves me alot of trial & error. have a good 'un.

    Hey bud long time no talk.... had a question for ya...im workn on my front discs on a 65 tbird... im tryn to remove my hub & rotor assembly.. to clean & inspect the bearinge.. i hve my shop manual but i can not get the assembly off the spindle... outer bearing wont come out .. dont wanna damage it... any pointers my man thanks again 🙏

    • @Volfandt
      @Volfandt  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm not aware of a 65 TBird frontend being any different than most mid size cars of that era so I'd think once you removed the cotter pin, castle nut & washer it should just come off. If it's been on there awhile a couple smacks on the inside of the rotor should work it loose. Don't go gorilla on the smacks and if you have a rubber hammer that would even be better. Good luck and have a good 'un.
