Thank goodness for the internet! I was you as a boy. As early as four, I remember I sat on our avocado green Speed Queen dryer and watched the matching washer go through its entire cycle, load after load. My fascination never died for all appliances, especially those operating with water. I even got to sell appliances for four years, a few years, back. I always thought I was just weird, until the internet showed me people like you have that basement!!! LOL That should be me.
Appliance designs from that era were a work of art. Names like "Fabric Command 400", light-up name plates... Nothing like the boring white boxes Home Depot sells nowadays.
You answered the Million dollar question for me... What was the first washer I remember? The VERY FIRST WASHER I remember watching was a "Wizard Citation Imperial" just like the one at 0.35, but I think my mom's was brown... she liked brown appliances. I think it succumbed to the rigors of 3 active boy's filthy clothes and was replaced with a Kenmore. Now to figure out what dryer she had...
My favorite's the Frigidaire with the up and down agitator. No other company so far as I know had that. Maybe you can open up a laundromat with all these appliances. You sure have enough of them to do so.
wow! What a collection.. Caught a glimpse of the Wizard Citation in the beginning of the video. . Growing up, my neighbors owned a Western Auto Store and had a washer like that.. Any idea as to what company made the Citation washer? Love the videos alot.. Keep em coming and Thanks.
My favorite washing machine was the avocado green Maytag that was displayed at the beginning of the video clip. My all time favorite. Was it turned on? And if so, why didn't the control panel light come on? Last question, but not least, what year was this machine manufactured. I know it came from the Maytag appliance retailer center in Newton, Iowa. Thank you! Have a good day and may God Bless you. -Shari
I was recently surprised to learn Kelvinator is still in business, good to see "Big guy Carlson" This is Robert & Fred's museum" brushing past the vacuum cleaners I thought I saw a vintage Filter Queen ? The soap boxes just puts it over the top.I'm thrilled & grateful guy's like you do this kind of thing,it just fuels my little boy fascination at 49
What kind of electrical system do you run? Most homes even big ones couldn't run more than a few of these old school machines without trippin breakers. The current capacity of this home must be huge.

30 year appliance repair business owner. I have never seen a bendix... much less seen one work. This is great to see.
Love this! Wish I could see it in person!!
very impressive indeed! You should have all of your Frigidaires in one room! You could call that room the Frigidairium.
Actually, in Roman times when someone took the baths and went from cool water to hot and back, the cool part was known as the Frigidairum.
WOW! I would love to have been there. Thanks for posting this.
i love this i could live in Robert and Fred's basement
