Fabulous! Love these machines - so much more efficient. My mom always said the last decent macine on the market was a 1959 front loading Bendix. We loved it, even when it came unbolted and hopped all over the garage! Thanks for this video!
This is the coolest video I've seen in a long time! I love seeing those old machines (some of which I remember when I was growing up). Just wish the cameraman had zoomed out a little to show the entire machine & the control panels.
So cool, that turquoise Frigidaire at the end! With the "granite" porcelain tub. We had a slightly newer model when I was a kid. It had the full width fluorescent light on the control panel. I used to hold the button down and watch it wash and spin. SO COOL!
Ah, your videos bring back great memories of getting drunk and doing all the laundry I could find with my Danby twin tub washer. I already had another portable washer (apartment without w/d hookups), but I bought the twin tub just because it was the first one I had seen available in the USA since the 80s. This was around 5 years, ago. I can't imagine spending a whole day in that basement! There wouldn't be enough vodka!
I love it! I know 2 guys in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania that have a collection of antique washers and dryers. And 1 of the 2 guys wishes the other did not have so many machines!
That Apex is COOOL. Basically similar to a front loader mechanism but top loading? You should have heard the font geek in me freak out at the Speed Queen font at 2:10. I love industrial design, and this is Industrial design porn. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING!
@JSneaker It was in the early Westinghouse front-loaders that you had to use those detergents back then, as they were the precursors of modern HE detergents.
Do you have a lot of washing machines? Can you hook them up so they can be used? Have a party and invite people you know would be interested and tell them to bring laundry.
Hello, would you be willing to sell that pair? the aqua/turqoise models? I can't see the make. I had a pair of pink maytag 1961 on my eaby watch list. They are somewhere in Florida, ebay deleted my list without asking. If you or anyone knows how to find them I would appreciate your help. thanks, Karl
That is a 1958 Whirlpool Combo! The Speed Queen combo is in a 27" cabinet, versus a 33" cabinet for the WP. You can see a Speed Queen combo at 1:45 in the video link below. (It happens to be sitting next to another '58 WP combo.) th-cam.com/video/E6-Lt7Ec-SA/w-d-xo.html
Thank you Kevin B. I too had a Suzy Homemaker & some of my relatives had that whirlpool & he washer / dryer combination. I am old school & a washing machine aholic.
5***** Star vid :D brilliant machines and they look nearly unused and new :D wish i could wash in one of these machines :D love the machine @ 6:13 :D:D the suds-cake is funny :D

LOVE the '47 GE automatic!! Back when American meant quality! Thanks for posting this!
This is just unique and fantastic.
Never seen so many men so interested in laundry. Love the machines.
I like how these guys are reduced to little boys by these wonderful machines.

IF in my country been place like this, Then I can be hours in there.
I had one of those Suzy Homemaker washers when I was 10 years old.
My favorite is the Philco Automagic with the high speed "hula" agitator.
2:12 what a beautiful speed queen
Ah yes the good old days
When washers were made to last

What a incredible for this... Is quite awesome!
Amazing!
love the frigidaire 1-18! Where did you get that wonderful green pair?
Wow, I wish I got my own washing machine when I was 3! But I did have my own Kirby vacuum cleaner at that age, and it was taller than me at the time.
Do you sell these washer sets? If you do, I'd like a mid 70's Kenmore washer and dryer set
I sometimes wonder WHY some of these washers still weren't made. They had excellent turnover and rinsing.
I've got to make to one of Robert's wash in, no if, and or buts!

Is the first one a Philco ford?
What's that washer at 1:30 called ?
That is a 1955 Westinghouse Laundromat (that's what they called the washing machine).
@3:17 The one and only Uni-matic!
How do i host a wash in?

With all these machines in operation I could only imagine your electric bill.
i wanna go to this museum one day!
I do too.
It's not a museum, it's a private collection at someones house.
Kevin B well I know it's not a literal museum, but Givin the amount of antique machines that are on display I wasn't sure what else to call it
@@revvinkev Robert could charge admission and people would come.
They don't make them like that anymore. Such a shame.
Dear Lord I'm in heaven!
Would have liked to see these in action
What brand Is that huge washer / dryer combination front loader in the video? Is it whirlpool or speed queen?

What in the world is a wash in?! And how do I get invited? 😆
It's something that collectors on the Website automaticwasher.org do. It's a sort of social event for people to show off their appliance collections.
no sudslock on a good old thumper they could handle anything.
at 4 minute that one is cool
5***** Star vid :D brilliant machines and they look nearly unused and new :D wish i could wash in one of these machines :D
love the machine @ 6:13 :D:D the suds-cake is funny :D
2:42 Seems like this is what HE machines try to do nowadays, except the "engineers" can't seem to figure out how to get the clothes to turn like this!
